Last year i used Maxxis Exception tyres with rim strips in N Wales at the trail centers and on natural trails with no problem at all and although i'm no Steve Peat i dont hang about

I've heard you'll be hanging round at the rear of the Dyfi this year dressed as a laydee!

Oh….and I've done loads of sidewalls on other brands but never Maxxis – Conti's were the worst.

None LUST Maxxis tyres are fine on my 355's – tried several different versions. Yes they do take a bit of pumping (I used the local garages compressor) but you don't need to use the LUST version if you don't want to!

There's a lot of cock and bull spoken about tyres by people who aren't in the know or haven't done it the right way themselves.

I haven't partaken as my employer put a "must be ridden to work at least 50% of your commutes" rule which I find too restrictive. No weather or health exclusions!

They have built bikes in the showroom. Worth a visit. Not far off M6 or M61 on outskirts of Chorley.

Well! What a thread. Think it's run it's course now. Thanks for all the contributions, including the down to earth staff.
Glad Mark got irate at some of the contributers-shows he's passionate about what he does but my point wasn't the adverts v content. I just think the last couple of issues have been light on pages and not up to the usual ST standard.
If the next issues better, I will continue to buy. I never mentioned that there was a lack of hard work or commitment by staffers. Just food for thought and if it brings things into focus as part of a debate, all well and good.

And if you don't believe we have things in common with the Enduro/Trail bikers, just wait until the Namby brigade have got rid of the motorized bikes from all the downgraded highways, byways and bridlepaths….we'll be next on the hit list.

These Berghaus clad wanderers are extremists and Janet Street Porter is their leader!

Beware. Some companies (like Trek) will not warranty purchases made on eBay. That would leave you in limbo if say the seller said the item was damaged in transit. Check the small print.

I mainly ride off road but have to suffer the road bike to keep fit.
Due to a serious accident on the road caused by an old duffer I do ride defensively when necessary i.e. Poor road surface, parked cars etc.
During every ride I have been skimmed by at least one car driver. Usual culprit: old male duffer who probably thinks it's illegal to cross any form of white line to overtake.

If you can't overtake cleanly-don't bother!

Merlin Malt 4 or Kinesis Racelight frame – nowhere near that price and equal if not better than all on your list.

Plus Merlins customer service is one of the best.

Read mixed reviews of Push'd shox. One stated that the shock was worse after. Tempted to stay where I am although Mojo say the shock will be matched to the specific bike and my weight.

Looking at upgrading but just want to know the skinny before I commit to a 2010 shock from Mojo. They say they'll tune for my weight and specific bike.

My Merlin 2009 Reba SL's were 120mm travel when spacer removed.

Not heard of anyone not getting all travel on 2009 Reba's from them. Great service, great blokes.

Rumours of OEM supply are wrong-take time to chat with them!

Did a circuit yesterday. Muddy in places and the downhill from the Pigeon Tower to car park was lethal with ice/snow.

Which one of you was the 70 year old bloke on the oldest MTB in the world?

Did an 09 XT bleed last nite with the cheap £10 mineral oil bottle and it was very easy as per many previous posts. You don't need the full kit IMO. Just follow the Shimano instructions. Get the fluid going then let it dribble through of its own accord BUT keep the reservoir topped up!

I would therefore definitely recommend Onza Porcupines for forest riding in Michigan.

    Follow these instructions NOW!

    1. Report accident to Police and get reference number.
    2. Get in touch with the best Bicycle specialist solicitor there is at: http://www.bikeline.co.uk

DO NOT deal/have contact with motorists insurance company-you will get shafted-let a trained solicitor do it for you. Things always turn nasty when the insurance company gets involved. Clear liability will turn into 'not our clients fault-you were speeding/wearing black/no lights/reckless cycling'.

    Personal experience-top bloke.

You have to be French and have completed all the French Safety/Qualification courses and speak French and possibly be French or have a French mother…………

Remember 3/4 years back when all the none French guides were prosecuted for endangering life or something!

SLX is the best weight to price value. SLX is more up to date than XT too- the last to get revamped.

Torn between a set of the Carbon exotic's and On-One cro-mo's.

Bit of retro style 'light' off roading on my Inbred.

    Anyone ridden both for comparison?
