Possibly Piriformis. Sounds similar to my issue.
Always been a cyclist and very occasionally a runner (I hate running).
A couple of years ago, I foolishly ran on holiday because I couldn’t access a bike.
Cue excruciating pain in my groin, inner thigh and making my knee feel like the blood had been cut off.
A physio diagnosed Piriformis issues, made me cry for weeks and pay for the ‘pleasure’!

I have found variability in the width of hubs from different manufacturers of sealed bearing hubs.
Some are slightly narrower but Shimano tend to be more accurate than most.
This presents as slight wheel movement even when the thru axle is tightened to spec.
A micro washer (spacer) is a possible way forward.

Being in an oversized Petri dish with hundreds of other peeps frightens the life out of me. Food poisoning and illness on boats is a regular news story. And if one gets ill or someone forgets to put the salmon mouse back in the fridge, everyone’s likely to go down with it!
And that Covid thing is here to stay apparently 🤣

Done exactly this a few weeks ago.
£40 to hire the self propelled turf cutter from local hire shop. Weighs 95kg so ideally get it dropped off by them.
The rear wheel drive didn’t like soft/wet ground so wait till the ground dries out or is freezing.
Cutting depth was adjustable. The turf rolls weigh a tonne when wet.
Screwfix HEAVY DUTY weed matting, avoid cutting it if you can 1 and 2 metre widths, various lengths. 20mm gravel. Eat plenty of spinach for gravel digging.
Get the delivery driver to pile the tonne bags on top of each other for easier barrowing (CAREFULLY cut the bag sides).

One of my greatest memories of the RAC was pulling into a petrol station after watching Stig Blomquist (Ford Sierra XR 4×4) and Per Eklund (Audi Quattro) fight to the proverbial death in a Lakes Stage. Think it was the last stage before a long drive back to the finish at Chester.

To my absolute jaw dropping amazement…Per and Stig are filling up at the pumps and chatting to each other across the forecourt. I was totally star struck and……they were SPEAKING to each other! 🤣🤣🤣

Per showed me round the car which was literally falling to bits at the welds having been thrashed around numerous international rallies. Down to earth didn’t do it justice. What a star.

One of those moments you never forget!😁

*Per won on the road BUT his intake manifold was aftermarket and out of spec to Audi’s original dimensions so Stig was promoted and won.

I did a lot of research before buying a gravel steed: Dolan have GXA frames in stock which most don’t (and can’t give you a solid re stocking date). The original 2018 GXA was a handmade Deddacci frameset and so more expensive than the carbon GXC.
The GXA is a very nice frame and fork in the flesh. It couldn’t be described as ‘budget’ IMHO. The ride (around the showroom!) felt great. Top tube is no higher than the other bikes I tried-that photo is misleading. The staff at Dolan stated it was their most popular model at the moment so I wouldn’t hang around.

It is not currently possible to predict what you will be charged until you receive the delivery notification along with any fees that apply or have been levied.

You can write what you like and try to put ‘fixed’ numbers on the Tories successful zero tariff deal but back in the real world we have found massive variability on what our export customers are having to pay, almost as if it’s all made up on the spur/whim of the moment. Frinstance: EU customer required to pay local VAT (expected) Shipping company import admin paperwork fee €20 (not expected) and a 20% ‘customs tariff’ (WTF?)
No wonder the EU debated and ratified the deal in one day.
The UK public has been royally shafted by Boris.

These thing are truly the work of the devil himself according to people I have dealt with:

    1. Di2 – communicates with Microsoft and Google and will short out and electrocute you, especially on a Ti frame. Allows Amazon to listen to your gear changes.

    2. Tubeless – will puncture and go flat the second you leave the house IF you can get it to seal. Tyres are known to explode and kill nearby puppies and kittens. The only safe way to cycle is 120 PSI in a tubed tyre.

    3. Disc brakes – untried technology. Will lead to deafness due to squeeling and rub noise that you can’t eliminate. Hot rotors can also slice people in half during an accident.

I suspect some of my customers experiences may be anecdotal.

The comments from JRM made me laugh! He bragged in an article a few years ago that he doesn’t see his children until they are 7-8 years old as the nanny takes care of them. In true Victorian Dad style he then insists they are seen but not heard at the dinner table.
I thought the article was a spoof at first but it appeared 100%.
JRM obviously has his finger on the pulse especially when he’s on fact finding visits to the ‘street’ and getting down with the kids or chatting in the queue at Tesco.
Can’t think of anyone less qualified to talk about children or their welfare.

Elite Suito – superb, will replace the Direto at some stage. Just works and brilliant with Zwift.

ALWAYS had issues/niggles with various TACX models. Went through the Flux debacle. Never again.

Ridden Assos and wasn’t particularly impressed. Have ridden Castelli for a lot longer and they’re okay and better for me.

Life lesson: marketing and profitability is king, comfort and practicality isn’t!

My favourite go to shorts are GSG and lately Endura who seem to do loads of R+D.

Castelli used to brag that a percentage of the Pro’s used the 2nd or 3rd tier ‘endurance’ shorts rather than the top priced race bibs.

SRAM cassettes last no longer Shimano.
I cannot understand anyone who opts for SRAM (or Campag) over Shimano. Consumables are all more expensive than Shimano.

Your contract is with the retailer NOT Mavic. You need to contact them.

Warranty is to the original purchaser only.

Mavic are operating as normal, they are ‘restructuring’ but supplying and carrying out warranty work.

They destroy grass and plants like a plague of locusts. Your garden will look like a desolate waste ground within weeks. They attract urban foxes. They were probably responsible for my mates wife leaving him and moving abroad.

You wanted talking out of it, right?

their top end road cranks are made of cheese, i imagine if teams weren’t given them for free and were spending their own money they would go else where.

Only a few WT teams are officially (fully) sponsored by Shimano. No-one really knows who outside the top couple of teams. Some WT teams DO pay for Shimano but claim to be sponsored to avoid embarrassment and claim one upmanship.

SRAM have struggled to get any team to use their groupsets and I suspect they are supplying teams for free.

The Pro’s beast equipment and SRAM is not a safe bet or well liked.

I’ve never seen anyone eat a Shimano crank either.

Look are okay but the bearings and cleats won’t last as long as Shimano. Reckon on 3x Look cleats to 1 set of Shimano.

Mavic aren’t ‘bust’ in the traditional sense.

Better to consider the EU arm as restructuring.

The situation is mind blowingly complex in that the company is split into (at least) 2 arms owned by different vulture capitalist groups who then have subsidiary company’s to distance themselves from direct ownership/responsibility.

Mavic are a cycling icon so I don’t think the French government would see them collapse (but we live in weird times!).

More likely that another group of vultures will bail out the company name, reduce costs and staff to carry on as normal.

We have ordered and received a large consignment since all this occured.

I know the staff and they are all dedicated to genuine customer service. They’re all riders too which is a massive plus. Not always the cheapest but you’re supporting a smaller independent company not a faceless profit machine.

Watched the Airbus 4 prop ‘Hercules’ type thingy on Sunday out of Brize Norton doing pretty circuits in the sky around Prestwick then around Liverpool presumably testing ILS. Suppose it keeps them occupied! Showed up on F24.

    This:

I’d wait until more people are back at work and the backlogs are cleared at the distributors. Also parts from China etc are either delayed or they are still manufacturing orders made months ago & were then halted by Covid lock down.

Every bike shop open in the UK is pretty much overwhelmed with work and also struggling to get spare parts at the moment

Most manufacturers, shipping and transport companies shut down for over a month so there’s a big gap where stuff should have been arriving but didn’t. Everyone’s working to get back to normal but there are BIG backlogs. It’s likely costs will rise, we’ve seen price increases already from transport companies milking the situation even though diesel is dirt cheap.

Please don’t think we’re anyway near ‘normal’ because of positive news lies. There’s a long way to go yet and the upshot is increased costs for consumers in the short term☹️

Never jet washed a bike in my life!

People do though and that’s why they’re regarded as consumable by the industry.

    ginsterdrz

Headsets are a consumable item like tyres and chains. They take hammer, get wet, get jet washed and the grease can degrade and/or wash out. The best can last for a lifetime, the worst can also be fine if you look after them.

    1. Sounds like someone has forgotten to correctly set stock level on the ad. Easily done.

    2. Behind the scenes bike retail is ABSOLUTELY crazy at the moment, beyond anything anyone has ever experienced before. There are currently not enough hours in the day to deal with and dispatch orders in manner most of us have become accustomed to. Couriers are struggling with sheer bulk of parcels.

    3. Deliveries to retailers and distributors are slow and often delayed.

    Just an insight.

We are not in normal times peeps!

It’ll be designed to last 12months and 20minutes if the warranty is 1 year.

Another modern day consumable product unless you buy quality.

If you pull it to bits to fit an element, marvel at the POS craftsmanship inside: sharp hand shredding bent steel, cheapest electrical components known to China etc.

Be aware that the rotary controller for the element may also be goosed. Sometimes it’s obvious with arced/black connectors, sometimes it can’t be seen.

Nestcam Outdoor is very good. Works fine at night. I have the under £150 version and there is a £300ish 4k version if you have the bandwidth on the hub. Simple to install, go down the plug into laptop set up, far easier. Installed a few now. Put a Dayglo “CCTV” sign in your window. Let local plod know about sus circs.
Reg plates in daylight are viewable, not tried at night, might also be dependent on street lighting.
Security light might be a better first option, Shady Characters don’t like light especially flicking on and off.
