The problem is punters are paying for what they think is a personal connection and for some it’s only a small leap from ‘supporting’ the person of their desires for £20 a month or whatever to thinking they’re in a relationship, and the realisation can be crushing and upsetting.

And I think that’s why OnlyFans is facing stick from payment cos whilst for example PornHub doesn’t for their premium service.

Don’t think this is the issue and here’s why:

Pornhub purged 70% of their content earlier this year. They did this because they were under pressure from payment firms (visa, MasterCard etc). The reason they were under pressure was because knowingly or not, they were hosting illegal content (rape, abuse underage etc). They implemented a better verification system, but first they went clean slate. Payment partners can be fined/prosecuted for processing funds for illegal content in the usa.

Onlyfans is following suit, it’s not about people spunking (heh) money up the wall on a girl (or guy) they don’t have a chance with, it’s about money, VC funding, dodging jail and actually making sure there is going to be an onlyfans in the next couple of years. Better a slice of a tiny pie, than skint and in court.

Mortimer forest for chill fun trails – park at black pool carpark and ride up and explore. Good for 3/4 hours.

Bringewood for DH and enduro lines (better if dry). Park on killhorse lane

Neither of these options are waymarked.

Hopton for the ace trail centre with plenty DH and enduro options. Skip the last dogleg on the red and explore other lines instead.

I’ve been running a lot recently, it’s been my go to exercise when pressed for time – consistent efforts 4 times a week for about 3 months, and I’m actually starting to enjoy it. Finally invested in a bit of kit too which is pennies compared to the bikes.

Ditched the arm band which I always hated for a flipbelt, which is a super low profile running belt, keeps my phone, bank cards and keys, under my shirt/vest weight centered – doesn’t feel like I’m carrying anything.

Bought a second different pair of decent running shoes to rotate on the advice of physio.

    Grizedale has all sorts.
It’s got a full trail centre – these trails are IMO terrible. Hard to carry speed or flow and lots of wasted decent.

It’s got XC options like parkamoor – ok for a pootle but basically like riding fire road (and actual road) all the way round.

Where it really shines is the mix of hand dug stuff and bridleways that run all over it. These are amazing, however there isn’t a lot of overlap between these and the waymarked trails so you need to know where you are looking. Generally these trails are in southern half of the forest. There are loads of options that drop down to coniston and will dump you on the lake edge. Some of them have the potential to deal damage so be careful. The climb back up here is steep and long.

Some of the easier stuff to find runs out on to the road just south of the boggle crag carpark. Park at boggle crag car park, ride up the fire road, whenever it splits head right, and look for the stuff dropping off the fire road. Once you see the big slab, you’re basically there. Once again, these trails can bite, so if in doubt have a look first. Head over the top of the ridge from boggle and then ride down heading east and pick up the bridleways that drop off this side – plenty of options dropping this way, and they’re all good.

You have to explore to get the best out of grizedale – take a bar mounted GPS and it makes life much easier.

they’re being deliberately used in a different way?

    Yes

I was trying to read around this and my feeling is that if the completer/subject knows the “desired” outcome you would be more likely to get some unconscious acquiescence if it was one sided to the desired answer.

I reckon. Not sure how much of it is unconscious though.
The polls/surveys/votes/whatevers are also targeted, so you’re likely to see huge numbers in favour of given outcomes. Seems to be a trump/post trump thing IMO. Good practice/statistical significance/truth doesn’t matter, it’s about having data to back up what YOU want to be true. There are good surveys out there – there is just a lot more noise/false positives.

Nothing to back this up, just what I’ve noticed in the last few years. Do a lot of stats work, but I’m a chemist, so nothing as wooly as surveys etc. I might be well off the mark.

Yes, nicked from inside a locked van on my driveway.

Aviva had the cash in my bank inside 5 days. All they asked for was a receipt, all I had to give them was the order from YT.

Roughly one entirely avoidable accident a month with autopilot if the drivers had baane driving and paying attention

It’s pointless to state this without also stating how many entirely avoidable accidents per month with traditional cars.

Most journeys are short and in built up areas.

The tech for self driving on the motorway/dual carriageway is already there, just not legal to use yet – consider how much a modern car does with “assist” – lane control, adaptive cruise, emergency braking etc etc

Solving self driving in cities also solves parking in cities.

Basically most people live and do most of their driving in urban areas – so that’s where it’s needed. I want my self driving car to be able to go from my house to my destination, not half of it.

The UK has has a weird superiority complex about driving manual transmission cars – be happy to see them gone – I reckon 10 years.

Always ruled out on price alone.

Why buy a stage evo for £4500, when I could buy an almost identically specced jeffsy for £2500?

Also remember them taking a bit of a hammering with an ill-judged “factory tour” video, when everyone else was showing off high tech super clean facilities in the east.

Fun bikes though and huge props for trying to keep it built in the UK

Garmin Fenix 3. Second hand from ebay and recommended by this forum for c£85. A weeks worth of battery life, and great tracking. Bombproof and nice functional looking in a GShock kind of way. I’ve faffed with a GPS watch for 5 years and am really really happy with it.

I love my Fenix 3 – bought second hand on a whim 4 years ago. Use it every day, love it, and told myself when it dies I’ll get the top of the range one – which was a 5, now a 6 and I reckon the Fenix 8 will be out by the time this thing is toast.

Pcpartpicker UK is the site you want.

Fair warning – the only thing hit harder than bikes during this pandemic is PC hardware. If you want top end stuff you’ll be out of luck, or you can pay top end prices for middle of the road stuff.

    I’d wait a few months.

I had one of those beyond meat burgers the other day – got them in Tesco. Pretty spenny at £5 for 2, but tastes and looks and cooks like a normal beefburger. They are on another level compared to any meat substitute stuff I’ve tried. Suitable for vegans.

have ended up staying in an air BnB in the blackdown hills for the last 3 months due to covid

got a place in Upottery ….. Beautiful thatched cottage, stream in the garden

Surely not the same place is it?

I doubt it! Its a nice thatched barn conversion with a stream in the garden, but about 5km from Upottery along the roman road! Hopefully moving out soon, somewhere a bit further west…

I took a job in the Exeter in the new year – have ended up staying in an air BnB in the blackdown hills for the last 3 months due to covid – hopefully moving out this month. I can’t be far from andylc!

Roads are crap for road riding, ok on the gravel bike some nice loops, not much mtb and the walking is meh, unless you like endless fields.

Everything good is just a bit far to be driving for a quick blast. Winter has been grim – wind, fog and freezing cold with snow up by us but ok in the valleys. It’s ok, plenty worse, but wouldn’t choose to live there unless I had good reason.

I’ve got one, it’s a really good unit, but also have the issues mentioned above with battery. No issues with how it routes me – I have it set to avoid main roads, and to popularity route.

I used to get about 8 hours out of it with screen on, navs and sensors connected, then it did a firmware update, and seems to rinse the battery in about 3 hours, but when it gets to 0 it just keeps going. Haven’t done an update since so might be fixed now.

For me Garmin have the best hardware out there, but we are years into wearables and GPS tech being common place and the software and UI still suck. Sometimes finding basic settings and stuff is really annoying.

It’s probably not charging. I’ve had a few pairs of Sony wireless buds, most of them still going, but occasionally run into issues with them charging. So first read this and see if sheds any light. Red light generally indicates power/charging issue.

    https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wfxb700/v1/en/contents/TP0002757652.html

Firstly make sure the case is charged. If they are anything like the two pairs I have, the contacts on the ear buds might become dirty. Clean them with IPA, and give them a scratch with something metal to remove any surface oxidation/shite. Then do the same to the pins in the case. If you have spring loaded contact pins in the case then check they are returning to height – you should have 3 and they should all be the same height. If not, grab the one that’s stuck down with tweezers and work it till it returns freely.

I’ve got an edge explore – it’s got no barometer, so you’re relying on GPS for elevation which is crap for vertical measurement. I reckon mine under measures by around 30-40%. Great unit in every other way.

The Strava correction will be way more accurate!

I’ve just been through this whole thing in the last couple of days – I travelled back through South Africa for work the other day so having to isolate for ten days and all I have here is an old tackx blue motion turbo and a through axle bike.

I’m currently using a bodge as seen here:

Had all the bits sitting around, and seems to be solid. I’ve put in a good few sessions on it taken everything apart and checked for damage and it all looks good. You may need to make some adjustments depending on your through axle type.

A shoe drying robot thingy – one of those purchases that seem frivolus but you won’t go back. Can be got for £20-30

Outdoor shoes, work books, cycling shoes, ski boots, running shoes – works great on all of them.

I’ve been through this a few times – always been easiest/cheapest to add them to the existing policy.

But seeing as it takes 5 mins to get quotes, why not just get some quotes and see whos cheapest?

Had a similar issue on a transit once – turned out the starter motor was sticking.

My money would be on crappy/broken connection somewhere or knackered starter.

If you’ve got the space then try a push start or if the starter is accessible smack it with something while turning the key.

Long term anxiety sufferer here – and have managed to get a handle on it in the last few years. What massively helped me was practicing mindfullnes – I followed the program in this book.

    https://www.waterstones.com/book/mindfulness/professor-mark-williams/dr-danny-penman/9780749953089

It requires some dedication, and some daily time set aside to practice but the results for me have been extremely positive.

    I recommend the audiobook!

It’s roughly 14% duty on compete bikes, 4.5% on parts, + vat at 20% + the courier handling fee at probably £30ish.

I think you need to include shipping costs when you calculate the percentage too.

It’ll still come back more than you expect!

This was standard practice, and its absolute horseshit.

Its also illegal to charge a summer retainer – heres what you are allowed to charge.

    -rent

-a refundable tenancy deposit capped at no more than 5 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is
less than £50,000, or 6 weeks’ rent where the total annual rent is £50,000 or above

-a refundable holding deposit (to reserve a property) capped at no more than 1 week’s rent
payments associated with early termination of the tenancy, when requested by the tenant
payments capped at £50 (or reasonably incurred costs, if higher) for the variation, assignment or
    novation of a tenancy

-payments in respect of utilities, communication services, TV licence and Council Tax

-a default fee for late payment of rent and replacement of a lost key/security device giving
access to the housing, where required under a tenancy agreement

If you call them out on it, what you’ll find is they’ll either charge full rent for the summer months and you can live there, or half rent but with advance notice of maintainance. Whatever they charge they’ll call it rent.

The state of UK renting is absolutley dire.
Landlords are generally terible people – their contribution to soceity is over charging and scamming people for a basic human need.

Depends – if you’re building a gaming PC then spend more money on the GPU.
If you want to be multi-tasking lots of apps and loads of tabs open, then a better CPU is key.

GPU tech moves quicker than CPU tech too. You’ll be upgrading the GPU before the CPU im almost certain.
