Thanks everyone. I’ve been to Cleeve Hill before but I never explore around Leckhampton Hill – I was going to use their route as a “template”. The article did mention that the rules were relaxed regarding MTBiking and as long as you are sticking to the paths, you can ride pretty much everything.

I’ve been struggling to find some good stuff in the Blackdown hills area – Even a segment explore in Strava was returning only road bike type segments. So not sure it’s the best detour.

I will suggest the range of hills such as Morgan’s Hill, Tan Hill, Milk Hill between Calne and Marlborough. Easy on a hardtail and nice rolling hills. If you want something steeper, I will go SW of Chippenham near Bath like Box. Also south of Marlborough there is West Woods with some moderate DH tracks.

Downloaded a few gpx tracks on Strava of some stuff in FOD which need to be investigated on Sunday.

yes all open. It was 2 weeks ago at least – The end of Twyrch looks a bit different without all those trees.

Extending the Marin trail toward Colwyn Lake is a great ride, mix of both worlds (“wild” and man-made trials) and I like it. However looking at that route, I think the bit around both Lakes is the wrong way round.

Same here with a 5010 – Upper link bearings to be change every year. I’m trying a new method when washing my bike by not using MucOff but just soap and water. So far the bearings are still ok but i think winter was dryish last year.

I brought back some red dust from MOAB on my bike last year – So I try to not clean my bike as long as possible after that. Then winter came.

Well I’ve been using Fizik Gobi for several years now because I really really like them – However they are expensive and they are rarely reduced, and I need to buy a new one because they get damaged very quickly. My latest one is still good but does look battered. So I like to try something else but i worry i will be disappointed as the Gobi is just so good.

it was indeed a v1 which they replaced with a v2.

Is it a carbon frame? The top link of my rear triangle was also damaged due to regular services – it was a 5010 not a Bronson. I still don’t know if it’s because the link was weak or if i was a bad mechanic. I was always cleaning it properly and using Loctite when putting the axles back. Anyway I contacted SC and they were happy to replace it with a new frame free of charge. So right now I’m still not sure if it was a know design fault or my bad skill. The new 5010 frame links are definitely more beefy.

I built a Chrome plugin which adds a “Download GPX” tool option to other people’s Strava rides. Msg me if you’d like to try it.

How is it different from the “Download GPX” box on the activity if you have a premium account? Does it let you download an activity even if there is no “GPX” box on it?

I like that: Wantage, Oxfordshire: 80km
    Exmoor: 65km
I know which one is going to be hilly.

Well I stopped using Wiggle because they were using ParcelForce. Now CRC is using them. Sounds like the next move is Merlin.

I like MBUK and they get me hook to the WC downhill which i thought I will never be interested in the past as I’m too old. Can’t wait to watch it this coming week end.

I’m impressed some of you read Proust in French. I tried to read Ulysses and gave up after 50 pages.

Yes Windows Movie Maker is great, but you can’t mixed movies like a split screen or small insert from a different camera angle. I think iMovie can but it’s not Windows.

Go riding before you are fully recovered

I’m so aware of that one, i hope i will be good.

fit a new Hope headset and bearing, then tightened up – Still some play, so i tightened up a bit more but no, still a bit of play. So I went back online, downloaded the install guide, check spacers, bearing orientation, etc…it’s all there and in the perfect order. Not sure if it’s just me but i was not able to sleep because i was just thinking about that play. I finally got it after 2 days – the bushing of the rear shock was knackered. Once i changed it, the play in the headset disappeared.

    Well look at that link:

    fixing XT M785[/url]

I did what he said last week end and it fixed it! And I’m not a great mechanic – Putting all back together was fiddly – and don’t break the small spring in the lever.

I think manual first, as this can be used eventually for jumping/drop off. Wheelies will come naturally.

I said “I think” because i still can’t do it.

We spend around 9 months of the year chasing decent weather around the country riding and photographing routes – usually 2-4 day trips

    Sounds like a dream job.

Same as Pawsy, thread for the top axle pivot was knackered and they sent me a new frame FOC. I was even picky as They didn’t have the colour I wanted so they send me their new model with the colour I wanted .

To help us, all SC has to do is to groove a small slit in the cups of their link to slide a screwdriver and lift the bearing out. Not difficult surely.
