I’m postal vote registered, so they don’t have my name in the polling station, so I can’t vote there.

Thanks Ian, my legs are still itching with those nettles. I’m glad to show it again at the end of this month, but technically it’s not really Marlborough downs but pewsey downs, so a bit quieter. I will start a new thread.

C_B, got a busy week next week so far unfortunately, but if things get quieter, really up to a blast as well.

All right, sorry for the short notice. Hopefully another week end will be possible in summer. From my diary, the 27/28th of June is free. In the meantime, if anybody still keen for tomorrow (30st of May), departure at 10am from the car park near Knap Hill, SU115 638 for probably a 40k loop. Email in my profile.

Whatever you are buying in Tesco, don’t buy anything organic or FairTrade there. If Fairtrade and organic exist today, it’s because those supermarkets. It is soo ironic.

Glad you liked it, and thanks again for Heathy and C_B for taking us over the wood down Erlestoke. Sorry for the concrete white horse, but if I told you that, nobody would have come…The Bluebell picture is great!

    Hi,

glad more people are coming ! From the previous thread, we agree at 10:00 am at the top car park:
    ST 899 513
I was planning a figure of 8 shape loop, down through the White horse path then join Edington (or push up to Erlestoke but I don’t know well over there), go back to the top for a few briddleways then hit back the car park if people want to stop (probably 20k by now?). For people wishing to carry on, we will do the other side, toward Warminster, but didn’t plan to go as far as longleat. Heathy, I think you were in touch with me in the past, with more local knowdledge, we can do something sweet hopefully. Cheers

we were discussing the forum on last night’s ride and some of the points in my OP were those of others, and most seemed in agreement.

You are riding with the wrong people.

I believe that one right at the top, ST 899 513.

I was planning actually the other car park, as we can then finished the ride by a descent back to the cars. But I’m easy and by starting from the top, we can do the footpath by the white horse first, and avoid the crowd, so not a bad idea. Length is flexible, thinking of 40k, going back near the car park half-way if people want to bail out. Okay for 10:00am.

I’m going to ride the Westbury White horse on BH Monday (except if downpour rain). There is a great cheeky singletrack at the top of the White horse, and if it’s BH it will be busy with walkers. So an early start will be good, like 9am, at the White Horse car park near Westbury. Maybe too early, and I’m happy to move a bit, but we risk to annoy the tourists. Expect some climbs, but mainly on tarmac to keep the pace smooth. If you are after a post ride pub, unfortunately no idea of good place in this area (maybe Bratton?).

What about riding around near Westbury, near the White Horse? Join my group of one people, me. They are all friendly but speak with a dodgy accent. cheers.

September, if you can push it end of September, the Alps are just great for Autumn. No nettle, all dried up, great colors, no thorns, best time for riding. Scotland is great in August as not too hot compare to the Alps.

Kids always shout at me when I’m on my Brompton, thinking they will scare me and I will fall down. Always want to stop after that, take out a massive kitchen knife from my bag and walk toward then with anger, just to see their reaction. But I never done it. coward.

Thanks Mark. For MM, I haven’t received any confirmation yet but I think they cashed the money. I have to double check that.

First Les visiteurs, now Taxi, I’m sorry but no, you really can’t mentioned them…And those films are released in Arthouse theater which is really really incredible and sad. We need a thread on “foreign movies which should have never been exported”.

Last year, it was my second MM. All exciting but a bit tired due to late travelling from abroad. Our captain started the first lap. We were all excited to ride our bike and to nail as many loops as possible. We saw him flying past the camp and we started counting that the next rider would have to be ready in 30min. So we went 30 min later to swap rider. 30 min later, still no captain. Then 1h later, nothing. 1h30 later still nothing. 2h later, black hole. We start to ask the medical team if they saw number 184, but no. No red helicopter went through the grey sky. Where is our captain? We could see now people doing their second or even fifth laps. WHERE IS OUR CAPTAIN???? Please let us know Lord, we are agonising now. And then we got our first answer from one of his friend doing a loop, telling us that he crashed badly and he was walking back. Yes, that was Votchy.

I didn’t see it mention yet, but now I’m leaving with a botanist, I feel very bad about all those MTBikers riding in SSSI or any protected woods for their rare plants. Sometimes it’s only one rare plant available in the whole UK, and it’s just be trashed by a bike, and that’s the end.

Well a feature I really appreciate is the High Sensitivity as it works very well in woods. My old GPS didn’t have it and was unreliable in covered area.

I enjoyed Kirroughtree black run until the big stone bit at the top of the Black. Lost lot of skin and blood. It’s funny as you reach the top, you are very tired and now you are for a very difficult bit. I should have stop, take a long rest, and cross it. Now you and I know.

Scotland, Southern Upland Way near Sanquhar

Thanks for all your inputs. Just missed your message Nobeer, pity as riding near Ayr is not great. I’ve been stopped by angry farmers (ok 2) and some paths on the map don’t really exist on the ground. Well I had great time doing a bit of the Southern Upland way, Kirroughtree, Galloway. I gave Isle of Arran a miss due to unsettled weather. Thanks again.
