well I look around Fareham on my map and I can't find something called Hundred Acres wood. Where is it? My work place is based in Fareham but I never thought to bring my bike to explore around that place.

As I said in the past, watching french movies with the french subtitles work a treat. That's how I tend to improve my english, watching US/UK movies with english subtitles.

the end of collateral is great. I just have this image of the character played by Cruise seating in the carriage while the tube goes around and around for ever.

If public ennemies was not shot from a cctv point of view, that would have been much better.

I won't go that far as well as best movie ever. Have you tried Dog's Day Afternoon? Somehow that's the movie which came to my mind trying to think of something better.

don't know about 705 but the high resolution of the Etrex works a treat. Very very rare when I get a signal lost now compare to previous model.I really don't know how the soon european equivalent, (Galileo?) is going to compete with the present GPS system.

too bad captain! We are too old for some killer downhill. Looking back at the thread, I try to work out how many people are expected. Look like I have: rusty trowel, raceface, mulletus, tootallpaul, uponthedowns, c_g. Am I missing anybody? any leaver? joiner?

    Cheers

Yes, that's the right place. The car park is quite big, at that time of the day we should all be able to find a place. See you there!

I believe it's easier, but usually in September you are pretty fit after doing all the 24h enduro, marathon, etc… so maybe I'm wrong. It's just a bit wetter. And I'm sure they will provide bail out option if you can't do the last climb.

no problem, I can give you a lift,I will pass Devizes probably around 9:30. We can meet on the way out of Devizes, along the A361, there is a Total(?) petrol station on the lefthand side with probably any space to park and load my car with your dusty bike. I'll send you my phone number.

Are the Pewsey/Marlborough downs too far from Reading? We have a STW ride set on Sunday, 9th of August, and everybody is welcome.

    Hello,
just back from holiday in wet North Wales, sorry to not be back ealier. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still going for it and I can lead it as I did offered a while back. The route is as follow:

30k toward 40k if people are happy to carry on a bit further. The date is Sunday the 9th of August (2009) and I believe a start at 10am from the knapp hill car park, SU 116 637 will be good and hopefully not too early? If you bring some food, we can have a quick lunch half way, top of Cherhill down. Depending of the speed, I don't expect to be back to the car park later than 1-1.30pm.

Hope you can all make it!

    Cheers,

    Gilles

changing the bearings on the new frame are much more of a pain, need new tool, than the old frame. But from a quick chat at MM, it looks like the next new frame will have even a new easier way to change them.

Devils backbone very good as well, go for it, i refund the rental fee if you were disappointed. But I don't think the orphanage is scary and if from the picture above you are expecting some gory stuff, you are very wrong. It's all great. The highlight for me it's when she decide to play the game with the kids.

Looking to ride around Frome as well, might join you if you are inviting me? I know a local bike shop call Live2ride seem to organise one ride every Tuesday evening. I'm living a few miles from Frome, and ride usually on the Salisbury plain, Mendip, near Bath and more. Plenty to do around.
    Cheers,

Good, I will be there as well, lift available from Trowbridge to the start on that day. Can accomodate 2 riders and their bikes.
cheers_drive: what about Pewsey Down on the 9th of August?

Ok, looks good for the 9th of August then, follow by Mendip on the 16th, and the BBB on the 23th, and maybe a trip to France for the bank holiday weekend on the 30th. August full now.
Pete, I’m still up for the 28th this week.

16th clash with the STW Mendip ride. Ok, then I can only propose now the 6th of August.

    Gilles

Count0, yes! if weather ok, no problem. You will tell me then if it is STW ride suitable!
For another ride in August, either August the 6th or August the 16th?

    Gilles

mmm, not easy to find a date, as all my July’s week end are already taken. We can plan another one in August!
