Well this summer, as it was so muddy, a few descents around Bath ended up with a nose in the mud. CCTV recordings to prove it

Yes i enjoyed that place last month, climbs as good as the descents!

But if you just go on the other side of Keswick, try to do the Tour of Skiddaw, that was really great:

Quick question/hijack: if you are a mechanic, what brand of car do you prefer to service? When i service my bike, i really appreciate the small details which make the job easier. It must be the same for them.

Great weather for my first ride around the White (well not really at the moment) Horse!

    I went there today:

to protect myself from the rain. Any idea where it has been taken?

not done myself, but my friends in Paris used to go riding in the Bois de fontainebleau. i think it’s a kind of short journey by train to there.

Loop around Bath, first Lansdown and back via Charmy Down. Muddy like hell. All my clothes are now dripping on the kitchen floor. Must warn the cat.

Excellent. I was looking to a doable winter track nearby as the Salisbury plain mud is too much of a pain.

I was told by my partner no bike this weekend because greenhouse to clean and shed to tidy up. Then today by 2pm i was authorised for a ride and it was a fantastic autumnal ride as long as I knew where to go to avoid the very muddy bit.

I’m just gutted I didn’t spot that thread earlier. I was riding on the long Mynd as well today! Would have been a good Clent Dogg..Duffer reunion.
    Next time…

so if nature is tough, why do we need SSSI? Do you think biodiversity keep expanding? Rare plants do not limit to orchids, and to be fair, orchids probably need disturbance to spread themselves around. Don’t want a fight, just want you having a thought about it, and ditch it if you think it’s nonsense.

Well my girlfriend is a botanist, and her passion is spending week end exploring all those SSSIs in and around our county. So each time she saw some nice rare plants or potential ground for rare plants trashed by bike tyres, she has the same feeling as you when you discovered that your favorite trail has been closed down or trashed by bulldozer, trial bikes, 4×4,etc… I had probably ridden SSSI in the past, but I now accept I was wrong and people have other passion than just mountain biking.

I think my position of 27 out of 120 sound better than 27 out of 36. Thanks for that.

Sheldon, that’s very impressive – thank you – i want one of your 2012 calendar when they are ready.

That was very hard and I’m glad i finished it. I must be tough. Great event and atmosphere.

Well I still don’t know why the £5 delivery charge always take 3 to 4 days compare to a Wiggle free delivery which take 1 or 2 days maximum. I know they are in Somerset, but I’m in Wiltshire, so really.

Same thing happened to me and it was removed by my bike shop using Shackleton’s method. Apparently they used loctite to hold the bearing in the cup and I was advised not doing it. Just some grease will be better for the next time I need to change them.

Yes, hoping to do that. I will bring my best smile.

yes, I’m riding a superlight, so single pivot and bouncing a lot. Looks like that could be a good reason.

No errant pork scratching in Wilsthire, as well as the badgers, they all have been killed by the farmers.

Steve, yes I saw that on Endomondo! Weird. I did spend 30 min converting my bike to singlespeed, and ride bike home at very slow pace.

I believe if a brand does not pay for any advertisement in any mag, that brand will die. If you do an ad, the flasher, the better.

    Gilles

There is a disclaimer that whatever is advertised in their mag as no influence on the result of their test. So are you ready to sue them then?

In fact just come back from Endomondo, what about creating several county teams – STW_Wiltshire, STW_Somerset, STW_Worcestershire,etc…and create a challenge for teams. Just created STW_Wiltshire if anybody want to join.

many thanks for that – funny that’s what I roughly plotted on the map! i’m off on sunday, so it was a quick week end, but I should be able to fit something. From Swansea I also can see that you are not far from Brechfa and I haven’t done it yet – Maybe i should try that as well. Decision, decision.
