You could always ride somewhere else…

Lots of lovely moorland riding to be had, then go and watch the race

The red route should be ok to ride up until Friday afternoon, the WC course does effect a small part of the red route but I would imagine the red route will be closed over the weekend of the race or have very limited access.

The Citizens race will be on the Saturday along with practice sessions, the main race will be Sunday with events in Pickering on the Friday night

The WC course is currently open, however it does cross with footpaths on a couple of junctions and there are currently small conflicts with the current red route so you can't ride it in full. Please be aware of footpath users and red route traffic

Please note this is how I currently understand it, however anything could change

Drop me an email if you need more info and I will try and help as much as I can 🙂

Couple of real Mojos for you, none of that horrible carbon here 😉

Both built by hand with real care and attention and for a lot less than £1900 😆

The trails are signed as "closed" at the start of the trails in Low Dalby

The Forest drive is signed as "Road Closed" from an further than the visitor centre, so in theory you cannot start at Dixons Hollow and for that matter the car park up there is covered in snow

The trails are full of fallen branches and in some cases small tress, I should know I was moving half of them today

Offically they are closed and you will be told that on entering the forest

I am posting this for peoples benefit, not to start an argument!

    Trails are still closed

Anybody that thinks different will have to face the roth of the FE rangers, as I found out 😳

Hopefully partly open next weekend pending the thaw

Up there today, I was about the only one there!

The snow is melting fast but the trails and forest roads are like porridge, loads of branches and small trees down with the weight of the snow, it's a nightmare!

I wouldn't bother going for the next 10 days at least unless we have a heat wave or a few good windy days

Should be in Dalby this weekend, looks like another load of snow over the next few days. Think I will give the open moorland a miss for a little while after my last experience 😳

As for a build price it's the wheels and tires that are the issue, framesets are available around the £350 mark but the wheels will be £500-£600 easy and no real way round it

Great fun at the moment, especially if you like that totally "lost" feeling 🙂

Stangely enough Dalby has been empty all weekend, well empty of people, but full of Snow 🙂

    More Pugsley Fun!

You begin to ask if this will be the death of the "trail building" groups, maybe to be re-named "Maintenance Crews"

    gil_

Exactly the same experiences we are currently having (SingletrAction – Dalby) They have basically turned round and bluntly told us that we are not allowed to “build” any more trails, however they are keen for use to work as a maintenance crew.

We are only a small group of what was "enthusiastic" trail builders and have worked closely with FE for over 8 years, however I begin to wonder if we will still be there off the back of this

Interested to see they offered you a “familiarisation course” we were basically stopped in our tracks…

    Yeh!

You will need to screen print dry transfers

Quite an involved expensive process for one off jobs, especially if you are looking for a multi colured image

Would be better getting somebody to digitally print onto a clear polyester material, just make sure you don't oven bake the frame to cure the clear coat

Had a Large (6′ 3″) ML7 for a few years and loved it as a Summmer bike, got chance of a ML8 and love it even more, how a 6″ bike can climb so well is beyond me

Also been using both SC32 and DUC 32’s as 29″er forks and had no issues, people get put off but the “initial” flex but ride the things and you will think totally different

Craig, where are you, could do with improving the rebound on an ’07 ML8, later models seem to have more “control” on the rebound front?

That’s the thing, I know how much it’s going to "cost" but it’s always nice to add little extras…

Don’t want to take the piss for the entry put what to give everybody as much value for their money as possible 🙂

And No, it doesn’t have to be a 4 hour race, but by the time you have taken in the various "attractions" you might end up being out there for 4 hours 😆

Believe me, we won’t be making a profit!

Any funds that come in over budget will be put back into prize kitty or Beer fund

That’s the spirit of the whole event 🙂

    Thanks guys :~)

Don’t think you would be forced to "do" anything, I hear what you are saying about camping but it also means you can have a nights entertainment/beer and you get to sleep in what’s normally one of the most quite parts of the world

Additional non-racers would be charged but it would be kept to as low as possible

It’s a non-profit making event, just doing it for the Karma :~)

Ok, somebody might have let the cat out the bag…

If I was to say more of a social/festival/drinking/bike race kind of affair, with no turbo trainers in site and a British championship at stake

    Would that gain interest?

Basically the "freebies" do not make up that much percentage of the per head fee, it’s various other costs that push it up
