…how’s that work, I’m older than you and yet again you beat me to it

Carry on spreading the love 🙂

Did the 75 last year, straight off the back of Covid, got an early start and loved it, nobody on the hills, so managed to clean them all even though I sounded like a steam train…

Did the 144 previous year and you will suffer from bottle necks, still a great event, I’ll miss it this year 🙁

6′ 2″ and find the Cloud cover too short for anything beyond the warmest UK nights

Thermarest range are great but go with the “long” option

Genuine US Carhartt, not the fashion version

Great comfortable fit, even with Singlespeeders thighs, super hard wearing and cheap

Try and find yourself an nice old Roland Camm 1, ideally something small like a CX24, ideal for small graphics and T-Shirt material if you want to go down that route

Get your head round using vector files, look out for Vector .pdf files, very useful

You can get plug-ins for Corel Draw, for little money, like Finecut, this will allow you to cut directly from Corel draw, look for an old Windows machine to run everything on and a “one off purchase” of Corel X4

All the above will keep costs down and give you great results

As I understand it YishunBike manufacture Light Bicycle rims, you can buy directly from Yishun and I have done for several years, only issue is over inflation caused a failure

Having said that I have 5-6 29’er rims with no issues and would have more if the Dollar/Sterling rate was a little more favorable

Why not use the proper solvent proof spray mask, I offer it as an alternative mask for people wanting to re-paint cranks?

If you can supply the vector files you are looking at minimal cost, if you need designs drawing up, a little more

Will be up there paying our respects to our dearly departed “Troutie” we have 4 solo entries riding under the “Fatty Owl” banner, we didn’t have Chris to organise us this year, so we ended up with 4 Solo entries

Dusting of snow at home today, just to remind us what’s round the corner…

Not really the ideal process, bike frames are lots of small tubes and you would always have a join/overlap as you don’t have the natural “edge of panel” that you find on a car

Certainly possible but would be time consuming and you might not be happy with the results/edges

(I used to wrap vehicles for a living)

Love mine, but as with all bikes it’s a compromise, I wouldn’t choose to ride 50+ miles on gravel roads but sure is fun on sub 20 mile fun routes

First Full Suspension I’ve had in 10 years and total departure from my normal rides, (Jones, Krampus, Bear Grease) climbs so much better than I imagined, there are know issues with the back end feeling a little flexy, something you are occasionally aware of but certainly doesn’t hold you back or knock you off line

It’s a monster truck, if you’ve got the legs it will go over pretty much anything

Jekkyl, not really an option I;m afraid, however there are a limited number of rooms available on site, obviously this would be at an additional cost but could be an option if you want to travel light

Always recommend trying the manufacturer initially, in most case you won’t get a response or if you model is older than a couple of years, in most cases they won’t have anything available

I specialize in the older models from 1990-2000 and purely MTB brands but can re-draw pretty much anything, I supply on a bespoke “one to one” basis all over the world, but also supply several of the smaller UK manufactures and frame re-finisher shops, I’ve done this for nearly 20 years, so I know my stuff 🙂

If this is of interest whiz me over a photo or link to what your looking to match and I’ll let you know what’s possible ~ salesATretrodecals.co.uk

Assuming you are coming into Denver try popping up to Carbondale on the drive over, if you like huge wall rides you’ll love “Father of Ginormous” amazing trail which is part of the Prince Creek trail network

Similar to the Crested Butte trails without the huge altitude, which will kill you!

Yep, got a Solo entry as a mark of respect for Troutie, he won’t get to ride it this year, but I sure as hell will do, aided by a fine set of his Liberator Lights

    Long Live Fatty Owls!

Well done Sir, you won’t regret it, hopefully give you the taste for a few more adventures 😉

Very much the spirit of the event, gives you the taste of adventure, but with simple overnight “security” no need for cooking kit, as food and drink will both be available

Set yourself a basic budget and give it a go, in most cases you would spend another £60-£70 to do an event like this, use this towards your sleeping kit 🙂

A combination, a capable gravel rider should be able to ride the route, several did last year on Fargos and CX bikes, but in the same light a fatter tired bike might be beneficial on some sections.

I guess it depends on the riders skill level

Excellent day riding the last part of the route today, current conditions are dry and great without the vegetation growing in, which is one of the advantages of the earlier date this year

Sadly only about 50% of the people who had taken entries…

This then through out the catering side of things at the overnight camp, hence why there is a small charge this year

    gil_

It’s really aimed at new people to the area getting a taste for the Yorkshire Moors and being self sufficient, with the safety of a overnight “camp” rather than just focusing on the trail centre “theme parks”

Obviously everyone is welcome, but without the expense of an “entry fee” hopefully meaning more people get to experience it, with little risk

Sadly this was part of the reason for having to make a minimal charge this year, the event was oversubscribed but on the day we had a lot missing, which spoiled what we hoped would become an annual “free event”

It’s an amazing area, hope you can come and enjoy it this year flyingmonkeycorps

Never run one on the rear, currently matched with a Cannoli which again works really well

You just need to keep checking back on the site, I think they release a few each day and when they are gone you just wait till the following day, been watching them for a while, it says out of stock but when you click on the more details you sometimes get lucky

Love these as a front tyre, amazing grip for such a minimal tread, just got a pair for £16.78 each, they seem to get cheaper every day !

It’s never been aimed at the “Gnar” market and will never tick that box, but as a 20+mile loop with an “all weather” surface for the most of it, it pretty much ticks that box

Dixons Hollow (Bike Park) was built original as a “4 cross” circuit, which it never was, in hindsight more could have been done with it, but seeing how many people still get stretched out of there with broken bits, I wouldn’t guess it’s not high on the upgrade list

The place seems to have become an e-Bike mecca of late, as I guess most trail centres are, guess that’s a good and bad thing…
