BTW, did they advise to strap the ankle at all?

Wearing my walking boots at the mo to help support it, but maybe a bit of bandage strapping might help.

    Ah, thanks.

After doing a bit of reading it looks like it’s the peroneal tendon not the cfl.

I can ride my bike without pain, it’s more a problem walking about.

So good stretches and massaging the way forward.

Going to book in with a Physio and get it confirmed.

    Thanks for the replay 🙂

    Ah, good point 🙂

flick of a switch and you get the best of both worlds…. unless its a trail that goes up and down a lot then dial it in.

Gonna be like Lewis Hamilton at the wheel soon 😉

    BTW,

just to make sure I haven’t set my fork really terrible.

I’ve put the rebound on full turtle then done about a third of the clicks back to rabbit.

I have done the same for low speed compression.

Is that about right for starters?

    Ta 🙂

Great to hear from other people who own the bike.

Wondering what the tokens really do? What kind of riding warrants them etc?

BTW, I thought the trails were going to be dry, but it had rained in the night without me knowing!!! Ended up a right state! Spent a good while cleaning her up though and let her stay inside for another night while she dried off 😉

I’ve set it to a third of the way on the rebound for everything as a starter. Guess I need to hit the same trail again and again to feel the difference.

BTW, does the middle setting on the shock still use all the travel? Just firms it up a bit. Nice little setting for more flowing stuff.

Wales / The Beast here I come 🙂

    Cheers for the advise 🙂

Yeah…. I nearly wiped out a couple of time until I shifted myself a bit more forward. Once I did that the bike became a lot more nimble and predicable. The bigger wheels are something to get used to as well. Just rolled over roots my other bike kept me honest on.

The bike looks badass as well, which helps 🙂

Had old pikes and fox talas where you could go tight and it not break :/

Done now :/ Just wondering what I could wedge in there until a new one arrives?

That’s what I was trying to be sure hence this post.

You are kind of stalking me to be fair.

Would you like me to explain Object oriented programming to you as I’m so interesting/stupid?

It’s easy to order something the wrong size and find that most people on this forum are helpful and put you in the right direction.

Kindly spam someone else or just be nice 🙂

Thanks Rickon 🙂 New bike so some new bits to get used to 🙂

Thanks… Yeah, can release the cable on the frame from the looks of things. Just wanted to check as you can pull the fox one out without removing anything apart from releasing the clamp.

BTW, the evidence suggests I fitted the Fox one perfectly well on the old girl ta 🙂

    Can’t find info online :/

Did the string test on my 34.9 clamp on my other bikes. Seems to be the same diameter on the outside
    ?

    Can anyone confirm?

Went for the Capra Al Comp 2. Like the colour, like the spec… Didn’t need huge travel and the weight is so close to the carbon it ain’t worth worrying about 🙂

    Oh…. and it’s a flipping bargain and a company asset 😉

    Gotta love being LTD!

All good! Just had reply… It’s coming around the 11th!

    Gonna be soooooo sweet!

Was going to get an Orange as a Yorkshire boy, but I’m from Yorkshire so I want a bargain! Sorry Germany wins this one!

Problem is it said available from the 11th. I would like to gather that that means mine has been held for me when it arrives on the 11th?

Again, it says sold out now, but they took my money.

The bikes are amazing, but cheap and come from Germany.

They have cut a lot of corners to get the prices down.

I accept that, but just wondered if I will get it by the end of the month?

Ah,cool… Going to Wales at the end of the month so would like to take the new machine out if possible 🙂

@peabrain Made my evening….! Attention to detail is faultless!

Would pay many bricks for THIS!

But would bricks pay many THIS in return… I think not!

Again… thanks guys… Go Pro sounds like the way forward… how do you get the fork shots though?

    giddyrob

Bricks means pounds… not exactly a huge leap guys 😉 Northern thing 😉

Can I attach the Go Pro to the frame so I can ride and see the forks working? Like that kind of footage 🙂

    @nixie

thanks for the message. If you could point me the right direction for the bearings and tools on CRC or somewhere like that, it would be much appreciated 🙂

    @Ecky-Thump

Thanks for the post. Do I need any special tools to get them out? Gather it’s the bearing that sits underneath the freehub and the one the other side?

BTW, where can I get replacement bearings?

    Thanks

    @nixie

I have worked out that there is a horrible creaking noise coming from the hub as I have eliminated everything else (two bikes and lots of fettling).

I can see from a vid there are a few bearings to replace so thought it might be easier to just swap out the freehub as it’s something I can do and don’t have to pay a lbs. I don’t have the time or equipment to take the thing apart.

@cookeaa Did it feel like it was coming from the back as it does with mine. Gets quite load if I’m really pushing up a hill.

Not got some of the tools they show on the video so might have to go to lbs :/

tapped it with a hammer and greased it all back up… very simple..

I live in Brighton…. no such thing as a cheap lbs 😉

Happy to do it myself though… 🙂 Just wouldn’t fancy having to do that job all the time :/

    giddyrob

    Job done!

What a bitch to get those old bearings out….. the puller I bough was a waste of time… Had to hammer them out :/

Getting it back together was fun with those little spacers not wanting to line up.

As you guys said I took my time and now the bike is all buttery and no more creaks and groans….

Bet that would have cost me a pretty penny at the lbs as it was a pig!

Yeah, 40 brick sounds good to me. Just living in Brighton I know how pricey things can be… Especially compared to my old haunt Yorkshire (born n bread).

Would be something I fancy doing myself, just hate it when bits get stuck and you need a silly expensive tool you’ll use like once, to get it out. Think the a bearing puller tool sounds like it might get used quite a lot as I have quite a lot of hope stuff on there, which I’ll need to change bearings with so an investment 🙂

Much appreciate the input though guys… Wonder if it might be worth trying and if i get stuck suck it up at the lbs… LOL Don’t like having the bike out of commission and managed to break my ankle trying to ride the hardtail in the downs on the slippy chalk…. Gives ice a run for its money… :/

    giddyrob

that sound ok…. as they have been in for years :/

To be honest, didn’t think I’d have the bike this long, but with all the new upgrades it has it’s like a new bike with the pitch frame… When running nicely is just awesome so not looking to put a 2/3k hole in my wallet at the mo…

Might ring around and see if I can get something like that cost if I strip it down… Being Brighton I’ll probably be lucky :/

Well, that was the other thing…

I guess if I do some of the donkey work it’s going to be cheaper? Any idea how much?

    from reading this:

    pitch manual

It seems the smallest is 10mm according to the bearing measurements, but be good if someone can confirm?

    Hi guys,

    thanks for the advice.

Sounds like it could be a home job then…

Good to hear someone with the same bike doing the job. Just wondering what the smallest bearing is in mm so I make sure whatever tool I get will fit the smallest size. Found one that goes down to 10mm, but not sure if that will be small enough, without taking the bike to bits.

    Cheers

    Really?

Can get the bearings for £25. Be worth a little tool to get the bearings out and do it myself…

    Thanks guys.

They are 32 150m as it was the only straight steerer I could find. The forks are new 2012 models so not been used before.

Would have preferred to go a bit bigger, but had to settle with these until a summer bike is bought in the next couple of years… Don’t want to kill the pitch as I want a winter ride.

I was actually thinking of lowering the bars though as there is more travel so the bike should be slightly higher at the front if I keep the same stem length.

I do a lot of riding in the South Downs when not hitting the trails so have some fun descents to do when trying to keep fit 😉 Wanted at least the Talas to drop the front end when crunching up the hills 🙂
