Thanks. I’ll turn the bike over then!

Just read on another thread about Reverbs not liking upside down overnight…. anyone else experienced this?

    Cheers!

I just watched it with the sound off, as I’ve got sum banging choons on and what WAS funny, was when they both started ‘dancing’ in time to the beat 😆

Am I missing much with the commentary off?

It’s occasional threads of this quality, amongst some of the other dreary, predictable BS that keep me coming back to STW.

    A proper LOL.

    Thanks!

What Lowey said, or I’ve even had a couple of nights on Great Calva, worth a punt if clear and not too windy.
    Enjoy!

Try RV Ops, the website says out of stock, but call up they have a few different ones in (or did yesterday, ‘cos I bought one!).

    Very entertaining.
I’d love to know if markdatz has been following this one?
Perhaps he’d have an opinion on the grammar on show?

Well worth a look at their range if you are a big chap.

I’ve been staying at Near Howe couple of times a year for 5 of 6 yrs. Steve and Jill really friendly and helpful. Will get your bikes locked up safe and, if you ask nicely, pick you up from pub. The new cottages are REALLY nice.

It’s just East of Blencathra, so some good riding from the door, although not where you’re after.

I’d be interested to hear what folks are using too.

The biggest. ive found (have now had 3 pairs) have been spesh deflect. Problem is they’re more of a ‘communtery’ glove than owt else. Plain black backs and leather palms.

Apologies glen! I’m afraid my pedantometer was working overtime, as its had rather a busy day!

That app is EXACTLY what I was after, no need for tracks, logs or mapping. Mixed reviews on the accuracy.. you any experience?

I’ll give a whirl tomorrow and see how it goes. 😮

    Cheers and once again, sorry!

A great point that I was asking myself too giantjaunt.

The A 15 is a nightmare in a car (yes I own one :-)), never mind on a bike.

If that’s your route TAKE CARE!

Not my cup o tea, but Ray Lamontagne obviously thinks she’s ‘the bomb’:

    Meg White
You’re alright, in fact I think you’re pretty swell
    Can’t you tell?
    Meg White
    You’re such a pretty thing
I saw your face on the cover of a magazine

    Someday (Someday)
    I’d like (I’d like)
To Take a walk with you
Maybe ride our bikes down by the seaside

    Meg White
Saw you on the big screen
Oh Jack was Gene but you stole the scene

    Meg White
    Baby, you’re the bomb
Oh Jake is great, don’t get me wrong
    But this is your song

    Someday (Someday)
    I’d like (I’d like)
To take a walk with you and talk about most anything you’d like to talk about
And watch the sun going down, going down

Playing those drums is what you do, it’s true
Nobody plays them quite like you do

    Meg White
You’re alright, in fact I think you’re pretty swell
    Can’t you tell?

    Meg White
    Such a pretty name
I saw your face on the cover of a magazine

    Someday (Someday)
    I’d like (I’d like)
To take a walk with you, maybe ride our bikes down by the sea side
And watch the sun going down, going down, going down, going down

    Thanks 3 Fish.

I had wondered if filing would be as good, and a bit ‘safer’.

What, if anything, did you use to touch up the paint around the area drilled? I was going to try one of those car paint toucher uppers that look a bit like a big nail polish pot and brush in one. Anything else work?

GO. There’s been a few threads on here about what to do, where to stay done if you want to search. In 4 weeks you could either do a fairly unhurried tour of South Island or see the best bits of both.
The Southern Alps and lakes are amazing (and unlike anything I’ve ever seen in Dumfriesshire, which is great, but not quite the same).

I have used a Powermonkey Explorer on my travels for the last 2 or 3 years and has been good. If you fancy one, try their own website and at checkout use the code TROOPS, you should dong it drops the price from about 65 quid to 35 quid.
Bargain. Loads of adapters for all sorts of things, plus a good storage capacity in internal battery.

But agree with Junkyard about windup vs solar (in the UK!).

“Jackets can be had for £80 or so, and so long as you accept that you’re not going to have fabulously light and soft Spyder gear, you’re fine.”

I’ve even seen Spyder stuff in TK Maxx! As everyone has said, well worth a look.

    +1 For Buff / balaclava

Obviously long base layers (top and bottom) can be handy if it’s mega cold too. I’m just back from U.S. and was wearing top and bottoms and balaclava most mornings till it warmed up.

Well worth sticking a helmet on.

Some great advice from the folks here, as ever, as they say… take it easy first 3 or 4 days.

    Have fun.

    Hello fellow tall chaps.
Please excuse the slight thread hijacking, but…. Given you’re all tall (6ft 7 here), I assume you’re all big footed and handed.
I’ve not found it easy getting size 13 spd shoes, but spesh seem, after a couple of pairs to be best. Any tips on decent shops for stocking bigger sizes, or brands for the future?
Gloves are a nightmare, even xxl come up tight. Any tips there?
Thanks and sorry again for hijack.
FWIW, I’ve found polaris bibs longest in body and leg and i have an xl pair of endura waterproof trousers that are ‘just’ long enough, with the extra, inch or so long, flap unclipped on hem of legs.

SCr thanks for that. Any particular models? Anyone?

Romster….. I'll be riding off road for my TCL 😆

and Hope (you see what I did there) to be riding OFF road in the Peaks. I know lots of walking routes around the Peaks, but would like a good 4 hour or so loop.

    Ta v much.

Thanks ji, looks like I'll head for Brechfa – it's not too far off my route at all. Looks like you chaps had a good weekend. Thanks for the recommendation.

CaptFH, any recommendations of where to head a bit further north then? I'll prob head up the coast road towards Mach – anywhere worth a visit? Any Mach trail in particular? CYB? Also I've heard of the Marin trail, opinions?

Totally open to suggestions, as I've only really walked / climbed in Snowdonia and The Beacons.

Hello, not sure if it's compatible – I would imagine so as there are dozens of adapters available, have a look at the Power monkey Explorer.

Mains / solar chargable battery, mains leads, and solar panels that are easy to stick on your daysack. I've found it to be great.

As it happens Trail magazine have a review of solar chargers this week – the monkey came out top, FWIW.

If you do decide to buy one, then don't pay 65 quid for it, but it off the website, put in the code TROOPS at checkout. Bosh, 30 quid off. It's a promotion my mate in the forces told me about, should still work.

Only because I haven't listened to it for ages and this thread made me think of it:

Unbeliever – Therapy? (Try it, with your volume up, from the start!).

And owt by QOTSA, Muse, etc.

Good riding music and no mistake!
