It looks like PC is the only option then. I wouldn’t enjoy the game if I wasn’t able to waste people like I do in BF2 on my PC 😆

Hmm ok. So they have auto aim because the contols are so bad for FPS? Don’t like the sound of that. Auto aim would be cheating on PC.

OK thanks. I get about 3gb but it’s not all that stable. I can play bf2 on my pc ok most of the time. I just can’t imagine getting the quick aiming and accuracy with a controller as effectively as with a mouse :p.

This was bound to happen eventually. The mistake was to let the funicular get built in the first place.

🙂 I got silicone sealant but I haven’t applied it yet. I’ll give that 638 stuff a go then if it’s better. What harm would a thin layer of silicone sealant do anyway just to fill the gaps?

It sounds like you might want to fly it from the safety of a concrete bunker or at least wear some kind of armour.

I’m almost certain it’s the cup and nothing else. It looks like someone got a bit over enthusiastic with the reaming as we all know can happen. I wasn’t expecting much more feedback so went out and got some silicone which should do the job. Thanks.

I just have the one PC which I think is about to die. I’ve decided to keep my music and pics all on an external drive so I don’t loose them if the time comes and I think it’s good practice anyway.

Ok thanks. Are there cheaper ones just for occasional use rather than permanent connection?

A friend of mine owns an Orange P7. He’s always wanted an Orange since he was a boy. He finally has his dream bike and in two years he’s ridden it three times. They’re just the sort of bike people lust over.

I’ve never ridden one myself but would like to try some out. I think the 5, Patriot and is it Alpine are really nice looking bikes. Those sharp straight lines look nice compared to a lot of these funny looking hydroformed jobbies.

Maxxis Advantage. Really good all round tyre. Sounds like 2.1 will do you but you might want bigger. It’s a big tyre anyway and 2.1 does me for anything but the rockiest trails.

Hahaha, please post a picture here of your dog related predicament and I will gladly refund your purchase!

I’m hoping no pictures were taken.

I bought one of these to protect me as one of my rides passes close to a local dogging spot. Can I have my money back please?

Hmm I thought as much. I really need to be more careful on those cross drains. I’m amazed it didn’t pinch flat.

Yeah I’ll probably replace it but keep it as a spare as it’s rideable. The wheels not that old so it would be a shame to chuck it. It is/was a good wheel too build by a good wheel builder.

I’ll probably buy a wider wheel and put a bigger tyre on it for more rocky routes and avoid dumping my back wheel into cross drains again.

I have Pike 351’s which have a steel steerer and compression dampening. I like them a lot. Maybe they are heavy but they feel stiff and strong which is just what I need.

I just used TJ’s method for my 1×10 but left an extra link in just in case. I’m glad I did as I needed it but I’m using a short cage mech.

Anyone know the correct chain length for a 1×10? 😀

That must have been cold up there yesterday, It was chilly enough out on the Loch. Definitely doing it this year. Did you meet many walkers on your way down?

I’ve been wondering about this too but for single speeding. I recently found that wider bars made climbing up hills easier on my singlespeed because I could get more leverage.

I was driving one of the Peugeot Partners today at work and it was really nice to drive. I think it was the 1.9 tdi though which might not be very economical.

I can go out there and keep an eye on the place for a while if you like? Sorry I don’t know the area.

Sometimes you just don’t feel it. Don’t feel you have to force yourself to go out. I have done in the past and it’s usually when I ride rubbish and crash. Best times to ride for me are when I feel like it, which is a lot and if I’m pissed off about something. I think poor weather is quite a bad excuse not to go out though.

I honestly can’t believe that some people have a problem killing mice.

I don’t have a huge problem with killing them. Like I said I have killed them before and will again if I have to I’d just rather not that’s all.

We had a rat problem when they relaid a huge stretch of drains and soakaways in the village. The local ratcatcher dispelled any myths re humane traps – his advice was that unless you are going to release mice caught into someone elses house you may as well kill it, because when released out in the fields they will die very quickly.

I wouldn’t turn to a ratcatcher to ‘dispell any myths re human traps’. A wild animal unable to survive in the wild? If so at least it would get eaten by another animal like possibly a barn owl which are struggling anyway.

    Want to borrow our cat?

Would love to but my landlady is anti cat. Would certainly solve the problem by the sound of it.

That’s the trap I got lent that the mouse died in. I think it must have got scared to death. Bit of a shame really as it would have suffered less with a snapper trap.

Have you thought much about geometry? You might want something with a slackish head angle if you get into the more hardcore end of XC. I’ve found my Inbred to be perfect for this.

I have found that a tensioner is your best bet

I’m quite new to single speeding but for my first attempt I used chain tugs with horizontal dropouts but a very slighty oval rear sprocket led to all sorts of problems with chain tension. Nearly had a couple of nasty accidents due to the chain jumping off. It took me ages to discover the problem. It was also a bugger to get the wheel central in the rear triangle.

Then I switched to vertical dropouts with a tensioner and I’ve not had one problem since and the chain hasn’t come off once either. Now single speeding is everything I wanted it to be.

The traps set again. A mouse will be getting a free bike ride in the morning if I catch one.

Sphagnum moss makes amazing bog paper * and you can usually find it easily if you’re cycling in the uplands of Scotland as it’s one f*****g great bog. Just dig a hole with a stick and away you go.

    * Warning- check moss for pine needles and creepy crawlies prior to wiping.

Well I went to somewhere remote to release it. Some walkers asked me what I was doing so I told them. I felt a bit stupid when I opened the trap and the dead mouse slid out.

Yeah it’ll be 23mm ish internal probably with the 2.25 Advantage or a 2.35 tyre. The on one stuff looks good. I wonder if the on one hub would be as quick at engaging as the superstar switch hub.

OK thanks guys. So it looks like I was buying my wheels from the right place after all! Weight is an issue but not a big one. My current back wheel weighs a ton and I’ll be saving weight by switching to a cartridge bearing hub and changing my drive train from 2×9 to 1×10. Didn’t realise the rear dropouts were 10mm, that explains a lot.

You could try phoning On One and asking them. I’ve found them to be very helpful in the past.
