Probably Giant. They make more bikes than anyone and they make better bikes than Specialized.

Ok thanks. I've had the bike for a year now and I noticed that the bushings had worn their way into the inner coating of she shock eye. I think this may have caused it to seize up a bit and cause the premature wear to the shock shaft. Is it possible to replace the bushings with bearings to elliminate this problem?

Maybe it's the weather or the talent. UK = bad weather and manly women.

He might not be a mincer. Would you say that to his face if he asked you the same question in person? Sounds like a pinch flat to me too. I had a pinch flat once and the hole was a good few mill's long.

I say hello when I see them which isn't often as I'm not on the road much, which reminds me. Where I live there's a really smooth sustrans route so bikes can stay off the road but not once have I seen a road bike on it. They all stay on the very busy A road at the mercy of the traffic with a perfectly good cycle way along side it. Why?

Thanks Foxy I've emailed them. I suppose if I bought the film like I should it would have the track listing on the box 😳

Thanks I just had a look but it's not there unfortunately. It's by Fullface and Illegal productions.

Lol. Yeah I've seen that vid it's a good one and yes I do need to improve my riding skills but some stuff's unavoidable.

What's really annoying me at the moment is that everything is wearing out and I can't afford to upgrade parts so I'm having to change like for like 🙁

I've got Pikes on my Trance X (did have 120mm Recons) which has greatly reduced pedal strikes and actually improved the ride in many ways.

Are there other trails through the trees?

There are a couple more trails. 'Eas Dhu' and 'Cannonball run' but I'm not keen on them. They don't flow very well but they do go through the trees more. 'Pipe Dream' is the ascent and it's quite nice going up through the trees with switchbacks and has some small descents on it. The trails have been smoothed out a lot recently and the infamous 'Kelpies Staircase' doesn't really exist anymore. I'd say Carron Valley's worth a visit if your in the area but it's tricky to get to.

What am I missing? Is it a lot more exciting in the flesh?

Trails are always more exciting 'in the flesh'. Or do you do all your cycling on youtube? Why not go and try it and see if you like it?

I quite like the Runway. It's mostly fast but there is a slow bit in the middle. Some of the corners are brilliant and it's a good trail for practising jumps in central Scotland.

I was getting lower back pain too so experimented with saddle angles. Tilting the saddle forwards a small amount fixed the problem for me. I used to get a fair bit of lower back pain but cycling seems to really help. It seems to strengthen it and keep it all moving.

they are TALAS – 140mm in the pic, go down in 20mm increments. It rides far better at 140 than 120mm

I have Pikes on my Trance X and I think they are perfect for the bike. They may be a bit heavy duty but the control is amazing and the adjustable travel is a huge help.

Ok thanks. I think It needs new seals. I'm not getting full travel and I know they haven't been serviced yet in their 2 year life so I'll give them the works.

Nice thread I'm about to attempt servicing mine for the first time. I read somewhere that you need a special tool for extracting something like a 'circlip'??? I've seen the seal pack you can buy on tft is it just the one pack you need for both legs? Also. Can I get away with not using a vice? Cheers.

I have a secret trail that follows a stream down a wooded valley then you can cycle through a tubular culvert at the bottom which takes the stream under a dual carriageway. It's like that scene in the 'Italian Job' but without the Mini's.

Has anyone tried a coil on their Trance X? Was it a good result? How did it react to different kinds of bumps?

Thanks. Some useful info there. There's actually a bit of wear in the top bushings that will need to be fixed during the service. The suspension feels great generally it's just those multiple high speed hits through roots and rocks that feel too harsh. I have little experience of full suspension bikes so maybe it's just normal I don't know.

It's a Giant own brand shock and it will get sent away tomorrow to be looked at. It's leaking oil so hopefully it's just seals. I'm not sure if it's PUSH tunable or not but I'd definitely like something that soaks up the harsher bumps a bit better.

Don't know. Did the doc say it was dislocated? Probly best go and ask the doc I reckon.

People pull and walk out infront of cyclists all the time. You just have to be ready on the brakes and keep your cool. This chap could have stopped easily and was daft to loose his temper. The van driver needs to be more considerate in future.

That looks well nasty nedrapier. I wasn't knocked off my bike but more scooped up. I was wanting to turn right but there was a car behind me not overtaking. As I decided to signal and begin my right hand turning she decided to overtake so I don't think it was really anyones fault. There was indecision from both parties then decision at the wrong moment too. I was left sprawled on the bonnet of her Volvo with my bike hanging from the radiator grill by the right pedal.

I think it looks great but maybe I'm biased. I have the Trance X which I wasn't too keen on the looks to start with but the Reign looks much better and I'm sure it would be awesome to ride.

He is a superb rider. sometimes (believe it or not) sport isn't just about winning. If you have a personality you don't need to win to get your picture taken.

Do you mean an 'outgoing' personality? Everyone has a personality. Some are naturally outgoing and others less so. People have a go at Sam Hill and others saying they have 'no personality' whatever the **** that means. You don't know them you just see what they're like infront of a camera. Maybe they're just being themselves keeping their heads down, enjoying their sport and not play acting for the media.

I think it's always possible to change your bike a fair bit to tailor it to your needs more. I have a 5 inch travel full suspension bike and I changed the forks for 6 inch Pikes, replaced the big chainring with a bashguard and now it's more all mountain and a much more enjoyable ride.

I think fitness is a big thing too. I know folk with big heavy bouncy bikes and they can do uphill and xc on them no prob because they're fit enough.
