Nice vid. Well done with the sheep rescue!

That was probably the best wheelie she’s ever pulled. Helped her get over the root anyway.

If she’d known he was behind her she should have let him past but it looked like he got a bit too close. She totally over reacted and he was too nice. I think he should have apologised made sure she was ok then moved along. Could have said something like ‘Move aside lady. I have trails to ride’.

    I think it’s an SDG.

I just can’t look at it anymore.

Sorry but I just can’t narrow it down to one trail!

No worries I meant to say favourite ‘trails’. I did Ciaran Path on Sunday and the Devils Staircase too. Totally amazing route but my arms and legs have only just stopped aching!

Some nice looking trails there. I’m hoping to go up to the Poolewe area soon to visit an old path I built about 7 years ago. Might do some of these trails too.

Dont have a favourite – they’re all good

Yeah I meant favourites because you can like different trails for different reasons. I don’t have a favourite either.

    Ben Lomond.

Especially the bare bit beside the steps below the granny trap.

Ha ha. Yeah I saw that video too. Ben Lomond evaded me this summer but something to look forward to by the sound of it.

Comparing it next to a Giant Trance X – please… You’d rattle one of those to death on a decent lakeland trail.

Have you ridden one in such conditions? I rode mine on Sunday along the Devils Staircase and Ciaran Path and it handled it no bother at all. It’s totally un phased by anything you can point it down and it’s strong as ****. 5’s look a bit flimsy to me.

Like Trans-provence, 25 od timed DH singeltrack stages on a big old ride, but through the highlands. Why does this not exist yet? WHHYY???? I’m looking at you No Fuss

Something like that would be awesome. I’d fancy a timed ascent followed by a rest and then a timed descent. It would force you to use the same bike but it wouldn’t really be a cross country race. You could do it at a trail centre or in the hills. Maybe there’s such a thing already?

Nah. Leave the rain to the the odd bods and the lonely people with nothing better to do.

I was going to go to a trail centre but ended up doing the devils staircase and the ciaran path with a couple of mates. It rained a fair bit and the trails were like rivers in places. Probably the toughest day’s cycling I’ve ever had but worth every minute of it.

I was working on my trail which involved cutting a way through a rhododendron infested woodland which if anyone has done this will know how frustrating it is. It was like a personal battle between me and the dreaded ‘rhody’ so I was swearing at it saying things like ‘right I’m going to f****** have you’ etc. Then I turned around to see one of my neighbors standing there. It was quite embarrassing. Too much time in the woods alone is not a good thing.

I have Pikes and use them at 120mm for most stuff. I only wind them in or out if I know I’ve got a long climb or descent so they’re the dogs I think.

Most people I ride with probably don’t take enough stuff with them, me included. When I go hillwalking I take plenty of stuff in case of emergency because this is what I’ve been taught to do but I’m definitely a bit more blase about cycling which is far more likely to land me in bother. I always take an extra layer and a waterproof though so I can keep warm and dry if I have an accident. It’s worth taking a light weight survival bag too in winter and for high altitudes.

    Most Oasis’ catalogue.

I still think definitely maybe is a great album but most of the rest of their stuff is pretty much pants.

‘Wake up boo’ hated it then hate it now but everyone seemed to love it.

‘Dancing in the moonlight’ Was it 90’s? Most annoying and over played song ever made. Reminds me of pretentious Jack Johnson types dancing about with dreadlocks.

Cotton Eye Joe – great tune

Ha ha I actually bought that single!

yeah, try ebay. I got one from the same guy for my remedy, does the job well.

Nice one, found it thanks. Has anyone used one of these and does it fit nice and tight? I wouldn’t be keen if it was getting mud stuck under it all the time.

If the impact was hard enough to do that to the wheel I’d be worried about the forks too even if they had no visible damage. I’d probably be looking to get new forks too. It would be bad to find they were broken in the future.

Yeah I think he might have caught his pedal after the wheel washed out too. Nasty.

Thanks! As I thought it’s actually quite simple. They should have got you to write the instructions. You can see my pics on the ‘Giant Trance’ thread now. Well I can only see the first one but could see both in the preview! Anyway.

    At last some pics!

Here is my bike before I did any upgrades to it.

Here it is as it looks today. Upgrades include Pikes, Funn Rippa Stem, SDG saddle, High Rise Bars and High Rollers. I’ll try and figure out how to make the pics bigger for next time.

Yeah I’ve got them on Picassa. I’ve read the help bit it doesn’t seem very clear to me. I’ve copied the link from the pic itself (not the site url) but then I’m getting lost at the next bit.

My juicy 3’s have started doing that as well. I’ve tried sanding the pads before and that’s worked if they get a bit polished. I cooked my brakes today on some long steep descents and they don’t work so well now :(. I might try some Hopes next.

Some good bands there and others I should check out too. Thanks.

It can only be a good thing. I’d decided that If I got one more ‘Farmyville’ or ‘How well do you know me’ invite I was going to personally track down the said person and insert their computer inside of them.

they’re at least a cut above the usual pop dross.

Yeah I think Kings of Leon are OK but are only just a cut above of the rest which are sh*te. Prefer the Killers but they’ve only done a few good tunes.

There must be some out there I’ve overlooked. Only ones I can think of that I’ve really liked have been Radiohead and maybe the Streets first 2 albums. I think all the good stuff has probably been buried under all the rubbish. I remember thinking the 90’s wasn’t all that great but looking back it was awesome….Blur, Stone Roses, Suede and so many other great Indie bands, not to mention some of the dance music too. 80’s…a bit far out but still good. 70’s… rock like Pink Floyd. 60’s… speaks for itself.

I’ve only ridden at Innerleithen once when I did the red. Tried to go there on 2 other occaisions but the CP was full both times because of some events so I just went to GT instead. Want to go back to Inners soon though and get to know it better. I think GT is great fun and I enjoy it more each time I go there but I found it quite different to Innerleithen.

with a trail like that who needs suspension?

There’s a lot of rocks and roots and stuff at Mabie too although I did enjoy it very much on my hardtail.

I merely finished the ‘iddle bidle bunny rabbit kins off in the most humane way I could.

I ran over a shrew once. It was obviously trying to make a quick dash across the path to safety and it went ‘eek’ as I flattened it. Poor thing. Cleaning it’s innards off the bike wasn’t much fun either.

I’m sure it would be ace on a hardtail but it can get a bit rough in the eroded bits so maybe the mid travel bike?

Hahaha. I wouldn’t have thought that was possible. 😆

Ok ta. I have a fair bit more than that exposed in the up position and the tube will take just over 9″ of seat post. Do you think it’s big enough for a 5″ dropper?

    GiantJaunt
    Free Member

Ok thanks. Maybe I could manage with 5″ but it would be nice to have the saddle a bit lower for downhill bits.
