Watch some Bondi Treasure Hunter on youtube and see what crap he drags out of the canals in Amsterdam.

Handily he sells magnets as well.

Maybe have a look at skiing clothing there are loads of 3/4 length options.

In both insulated and base layer styles.

I’ve had a set of Wera insulated screwdrivers with interchangeable heads for over 10 years now.

They have been brilliant and come in a handy roll up case, that has the added bonus of being able to attcah to your belt.

I had been feeling a bit off for a couple of weeks, it all came to ahead a week ago on Sunday.

Out for a run felt like absolute poop back home, banging sore head that eased with some painkillers. Woke up early hours of Monday absolutely freezing and shivering uncontrollably. Monday was a day of lying in bed sleeping and sweating a lot. Pretty much back to normal on Tuesday.

No associated cough or snot, tested -ve for covid. It was not pleasant!

Speaking as a former world pipe band champion, were they playing it as part of their set?

If so it might be two different tunes, as in a Slow Air then into a jig.

I know it’s not medium sized but I’ve recently had a brand new 1 litre petrol Transit Courier as a rental van.

Driven it for a couple of weeks covering about 1200 miles including return trips from Edinburgh to Tongue and Edinburgh to Jura.

What a vehicle, really nice to drive and for such a small engine very capable.

Maybe helped that it had all the bells and whistles, which included the annoying lane assist, collision warning and driver fatigue alarms.

    8/10 would rent again.

My daughter wanted a Suri toothbrush for her Christmas.

She’s happy with it, just received two new heads as it’s a subscription service. They even sent a freehold returns bag for the used heads to be recycled.

I or my eldest daughter might be biased against The Spectrum after 2 (according to her) near death experiences.

She knocked herself out when she slipped getting out of one pools at the bottom of a slide.

The other occasion was a spot on her ass cheek that became infected and made her seriously unwell!

Needless to say we have never been back, more because of logistical reasons rather than those listed above.

If you were travelling through Sumburgh Airport I’d say definitely not. Most stringent checks ever!

Still not worth the risk if you want to retain it!

If flying you can get a bus from Geneva or Lyon airport direct to Annecy.

Love Annecy, so much to do in the area.

We’ve been 5 times as a family group, 3 times in August and twice in October.

The Summer months are extremely busy and hot. October was way better with a nice temperature and not as crowded. Didn’t really find that places were closed because it was October. Maybe May would be the same.

Some excellent walks in the area and the bile ride around the lake is really good especially on a tandem.

Chamonix is well worth a trip for a ride up one of the cable cars or the train, just be prepared to empty your wallet for the experience.

edit @toby1 we had a similar experience after doing the walk of Mont Veyrier. So much so that any bout of tummy troubles from then on is known as Annecy Anoos!

Annual ski club trip to Zell am See first week of March.

This year we were in la Thuile for the same week, loads of snow but the weather was challenging on a few days.

Other than that hoping for some Scottish ski days!

Only been once so far as a works day trip, because we couldn’t get accommodation.

From what I saw it looks great loads to see and do. I will definitely go back for a visit in my own time.

We got the ferry to St Margaret’s Hope from Gills Bay.

As radbikebro has said above, a bit of Winter sun definitely helps you through the darkest days of that season.

Always baffles me why folks go abroad for a Summer holiday when the weather here is usually okay, go in the Wintertime when you will get more benefit.

I’m a dog walker, I’m out whatever the weather is like so it doesn’t really bothered me that much.

Might be a bit of a long drive.

But we got a boat over to Iles de Glenan once when we were holidaying in Brittany.

Magical day out it the islands are absolutely stunning!

Your best option would be a 4 berth caravan.

Leave the double bed set up and look to get a mattress to fit the space. This leaves the dinette free for sitting, eating and entertaining.

We have a topper over the cushions in our caravan, it’s not great but it’s better than sleeping on the cushions.

Pity he couldn’t wait until the start of October and you could have bought our 6 berth caravan, which will be at the Glenmore campsite.

Having worked in construction for the early part of my career, late 1980’s, there was no pension provision at the time.

Starting my own was not on the cards.

For the last 10 years I have worked for an employer who has a workplace pension.

The only way I can look at it was that I did enjoyed doing all the things I wanted to do in my 20’s.

My plan is to keep working until retirement age and see how I feel then whether I carry on working or see if the pension pot will be good enough to chuck in the towel.

Recently been to see my Doctor about abdominal pain.

She apologised that she’d need to touch me down below, no problem I said as the last time I’d seen her she’d had a poke around my back passage!

Turns out I have an umbilical which makes it’s presence know by literally being a right ball ache when I move!

Six months wait to see a Consultant. Thanks for the tip on being flexible about where you can get surgery.

I have one of those decathlon single pop-up tents. It has the groundsheet and the internal sleeping area with it as well. It doesn’t get used much if at all now, make me an offer if you’re interested.

Alternatively I have the similarly designed decathlon 4 person tent which is similar to the above but has 2 sleeping areas attached to it. Again hardly used now.

I’m over in West Lothian if you wanted to come have a look!

A mate worked for a company in Edinburgh called Pump Action, sadly he’s not a porn actor!
The logo for said company is a dolphin squirting fluid from it’s blow hole.

Jeremy do what I’ve done. Offer up your locks to a trainee hairdresser!

Apparently they very rarely get to cut gents hair of that length.

Best part is there is very little cost involved, in the past year I’ve paid £20 for 5 haircuts.

Rarely have mince in our chilli now.

Much prefer adding a tin of Lidl’s mixed taco beans and a tin of their kidney beans both of which have sauce.

Foam mattress topper from Dunelm for us. Great nights sleep!

The mattress can be rolled up quite compact with the aid of some straps

The firewall in my Daughter’s flat is constructed of wooden studs, insulation and double sheets of Gyproc.

Get your neighbour to pay for the bulk of the materials/work and you pay for the double sheeting of Gyproc on your side. That would be my opening offer to them!

    Immersion update.

I’ve just purchased a Sangamo programmable time clock  that’ll let me heat water at the cheap overnight rate.

    Total cost £100.

I may install an iBoost or something similar in the future.

The added complexity I have is that only the downstairs is fed from the hot water tank, which is connected to the now redundant solar thermal, anyone know a company that’ll service this in Central Scotland.

I saw the mention of D.Ross MSP above I’m assuming he was running the line at the Livingston game on Saturday.

I could hear the chants of ‘Fat Tory B*****d’ when I was coming out of Lidl!

Can I add my tale of woe.

Last October the truckman tail gate on my works pick up fell off.

Booked through the works system to take it to a garage.

They can’t do it suggest taking it to a body shop so another booking required. They can’t source a like for like replacement and ask me to go back to the van management company.

They then send me to a local Toyota garage because they’ll be really good. They ordered a new top start of December. Apparently it has arrived and is being fitted, this was in the second week of March.

Last week I had a call from the management company to say my loan vehicle is going to be with me for an extended period. Just hoping I get the pick up back for towing the caravan in June!

Yay I can finally join in.

Had 7kW of panels on an even East/West split fitted on the roof with a 5kW  battery installed in the garage.

Overall happy with it so far although the electrical install in the garage isn’t the neatest but will tidy that up myself.

Have moved over to Octopus Flux am I then better to move onto the Intelligent Flux?

Also will it be worthwhile to fit an iBoost (or similar) to control the immersion heater?

Have you by any chance had work done on your housse lately by a tradesman? My BIL who stays in Liberton had a couple of his bikes stolen recently after having work done in his house. He reckons one of them has just popped up for sale locally on marketplace.

Just back from La Thuile yesterday, mostly a good week.

Friday and Saturday conditions higher up the mountain were challenging with very little visibility.

It was also snowing from Saturday lunchtime and was still chucking it down when we left yesterday.

On a side note looking for a bit of advice.

My daughter bought a pair of ski boots last year from Craigdon Sports Edinburgh.

She had them fitted by one of the guys in store.

She commented to him at the time that they were a bit tight around the toes and he assured her they would bed in when she wore them.

First day of the holiday was pretty much ruined for her as they were so uncomfortable looking at the boots later we removed the liner and her big toe was pretty much jammed into the toe box.

So WWSTD and where do I stand with returns etc?

My go to are the decathlon trail shorts for £29.
They have a load of small pockets for keys, card, phone, gels, and I think will fit a 250ml water bottle in there as well.
Don’t get the road ones as they only have the one pocket.

Edit. I see what scotroutes has said about them and mine are also a bit tight about the thighs. They still work for me though!
