I’m very tempted by Samoens,Saint Gervais or Bourg. I’m travelling over next month on the motorbike for a nosey at some property

cheers ddmonkey. I’m aware of the tax and fees involved in buying property i think the process seems pretty easy as all taxes and fees are paid as a % of the property. Is there anywhere you would recommend? Ive recently been over to les arcs area and was impressed with the riding and the surrounding area.

My theory is if i buy a place and later on i find that i want to move then it will still end up being a sound investment if i rent it out.

nasher i would be looking to buy not rent. it also needs to have a garage for obvious reasons and somewhere for my motorbike. I might have to pay the area a visit.

out of interest what is the riding like in samoens? I’m more into technical natural singletrack and big days out.

i follow his instagram, I’ve had a look at sospel but its rather expensive for the kind of property i would want.

i will definitely need to do more research and visit some more places. hopefully be out there after xmas if all goes well.

i like the look of Samoens and bourg St Maurice. As long as I can get to London easily enough. The Eurostar runs directly to bourg also. I had considered sospel but I’ve never been so I’m planning a trip on the motorbike next month to visit some different towns. Hopefully it might help me decide.

chamonix would be ideal in the winter, but its mainly DH trails and bike park stuff for riding.

Does it snow in the Alps? I wasn’t aware of this.

sweet protection mudride by far the best waterproof/every ride shorts. You get what you pay for.

I’ve got a xxl tallbo, i was thinking sizing/fitting might be an issue but hopefully not. I have heard good things about the evoc bags and they get good reviews, but i think i would prefer a hard case

i rode the route last month, if your looking for a big day in the hills then its excellent but if your on the hunt for some tasty singletrack then i would look elsewhere. The route passes a lot of far better trails. i wouldn’t pay the cash to do it tho as i personally enjoy being out in remote places in a small group not with 150 other riders.

ardent on the rear works for me, i like something a bit more aggressive up front high roller 2 or hans dampf.

No matter what wheel size you ride. “once your spent” at the end of a big day riding is always harder.
Ride more to get fitter and eat more when your out riding.

it is a XXL. I’m 6ft 4, so unless i took a few inches of my lanky legs i had no option.

anyone know what the matte finish is like?

waiting on my tallboy Ltc in black/yellow not sure what finish to go for. I done my solo in gloss but i thought the matte might be better for a (mainly) black frame.

I’ve just spoke to invisiframe today, they do provide a fitting service but at the moment they have a 2-3 week lead time

you can get them on amazon for around £15-20. Can use it for storing anything but yes it will take my helmet and stuff. you can make it as tight or slack as you want.

spooky sorry mate my fault. Try the new link.

Still got some work to do but I’ve went for the minimalistic approach as I’m not looking at spending weeks at a time in it.

i did have a look on starva, plenty of red lines on that hill just wondering if there was any obvious landmarks or points that might help with finding them.

been using my sweet protection jacket for 2 years now can’t fault it, very well made had a few crashes in it and its yet to tear or rip 10/10 from me. definitely worth the money.

plodding along. some nice work done. Much the same as my idea, I’ve got a bed frame 500mm wide which will extend to 1000mm if required and all the usual carpet and insulation and some LED lights, its going to be quite basic but I’m easily pleased.I don’t see the point in sinks and stoves as i doubt i would use it much. I will post some photos once its finished hopefully mid feb.
