Yup! Nicest commute for a while. Hasn’t got this far north yet.

A second here for See Sense.

I got the Icon plus front and rear. The crash texting feature is a comfort, especially for my more secluded commuting routes. Combined with a hump jacket for reflective purposes, I feel I’ve done as much as I can to be seen.

Been there, done that. Annoying, innit?

I usually only get to listen to the omnibus, so not sure what he’s been up to this week, but I hope he meets a sticky end soon. Great scriptwriting though.

Seeing London Routemaster buses driving down the M2 in Northern Ireland

(they’re manufactured here, but it still looks weird)

Have you a vague route or area planned?

    Cheers for that TurnerGuy 🙂

I’d skipped over the inbred purely because I have a set of tapered recons off my old bike and the inbred wont take them. But I guess I could pick up a set of straight 1 1/8 forks second hand.

Will watch this thread with interest, I’m starting to look for a 14″ frame to put all my old 26″ bits onto for the eldest child in a year or two.

    On-one 45650b? http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROO45650B/on-one-45650b-frame

Would the world end if I put 26″ forks and wheels on a 650b frame?

Plenty of food for thought there guys, thanks.

I probably should’ve stated a £1k price limit at the start, nothing to do with C2W, but I’ve gotta keep the husband happy 🙂

I nearly hit the button on an Arkose last year, but bought the Ramin 29er instead.

Tbh, maybe my best option is to slim down the 29er HT instead of compromising the road bike?

    Off to do more reading…

    Cheers again.

It’s just a bit shit. My 7 year old daughter rides in one of their helmets. If she saw that picture she wouldn’t understand it. To her, knee pads are for stopping you hurting yourself when you’re riding your bike. Why would you wear them with no clothes on, sitting on a step?

I guess these days we’re seeing more examples of companies who are willing to exchange part of their profit margin for ethics. Ethics is an increasingly effective marketing tool in itself, although obviously I’m aware that the ‘sex sells’ option will deliver bigger profits for less effort.

Disappointed to see 661 taking the easy route.

    FIFTEENS!

    1 can condensed milk
15 marshmallows (quartered if you cba)
    15 glace cherries
15 digestives (smashed with a rolling pin / spare crank arm)

Mix all ingredients together, roll into, well, a roll. Fridge for as long as you can stand. Slice.

Served at all good Presbyterian coffee mornings in Belfast.

Mainly bikes, kids and beer. Also some Scottish western isles sailing in the summer months.

Good read and many thanks for pointing out Dawes latest offerings on Kids MTB. We’re looking for the 24″ upgrade from the Beinn 20 for our eldest and Islabikes have stopped doing the Creig 24. The Dawes is pretty much identical spec and weight but £150 cheaper!

I hope Char has many happy miles on her Raleigh 🙂

How did I miss that there was riding to be had near Evesham!?!

A couple of years ago I spent 23 weeks doing courses there and only managed a daily commute along the A44…

    Happy pedalling

Fair point about the stats Mike, I hadn’t considered that. In the past I’ve not reported hits or near misses because it has been a genuine accident and the driver has been genuinely apologetic.

Eye contact is the most important tool we have at junctions/roundabouts. If I make eye contact with a driver, I continue at my current speed, if I don’t, I slow a bit and cover the brakes.

Assuming the OP and bike are OK, what would going to the Police achieve?

We threw ours in a bike trailer from 6 months, well propped up, but as others have said, depends on development really.

We had a front child seat for a while too, which was great, you feel like your really protecting them as your arms come round the seat to reach the bars and it’s easier to chat to them too…”oh look, a duck!” “Quack, quack” …etc etc.

Y’know how we could improve cycling for free? If ALL road users could show more respect and not be assholes.

Costs nothing to not be an asshole.

She’ll probably love it. A good few of the women I ride with have got 29ers in the past year or so, they all love them. Confidence and speed increased overnight.
