Our daughter is on an Islabike Beinn 24 and will be 9 in March, but she’s still a fair bit off needing a bigger bike. I have however started looking and since I found a home for all my 26″ spares, by building myself a SS, I’ve been looking at potential full bikes.

This looks like a great option (you could quickly shave some weight off by going 1x). I hope they’re still doing an XS HT in a year or so.

The one with Gee is on next weekend in Rostrevor. It’s not a ‘blokes’ one, but last year out of about 400 riders, there were only 9 of us women!

Approaching a traffic island on the commute home this evening. Heard a car behind me which didn’t appear to be willing to wait until I was past the island, so I moved out a little to discourage stupidity. Car still started to squeeze past and I prepared to give it a whack with my right foot, but turned and noticed a young child in the passenger seat, so didn’t follow through, just made an “are you thick” gesture into his rearview mirror. He made a ‘****’ sign back at me.

Poor kid has an asshole for a Dad.

I’m with corroded. Each to their own and whatever works obvs. But for me, cutting down works better than cutting out. Good luck with ditching the sugar 🙂

Wow! Jeremy Corbyn has 307 pages on STW. I guess it must be the beard. I bet he rides a singlespeed.

“Lycra lout!” …. while I was wearing jeans and a raincoat. I did respond with “You’re a very strange little man” …this seemed to cause much upset.

I use a seatpack instead of a rucksack in the winter, so I put my rear light on my helmet (it attaches with those rubber straps).

I built one up about 6 months ago, it’s without doubt my favourite bike.

Yes it can be a bit annoying spinning out on the flat but you learn to accept the enforced break, which allows you to give it more welly when you meet an incline.

The way there involves a train.

For those beating on about ‘taking personal responsibility’, are you unaware that it is 2016 and therefore it’s always somebody else’s fault.

    Look, you need both.

My husband made me sell my road bike before I bought my first MTB. Fast forward about 5 years and I now have 4 MTB’s and have just bought a new …….. road bike!

There is clearly no need for anyone to have 4 MTBs but a road bike and 1 MTB is perfectly justifiable.

Cycle to work is the way forward, but also the way to a cramped garage.

Where does it leave democracy if 47 million people (population minus those who voted to leave) are taken out of the EU, with no chance of future repeal?

Democracy is the ability to change something if you’re not happy with it. We won’t be able to change the exit from the EU.

Well quite frankly, the people who didn’t bother their backside voting can take what they’re given. You sound like you’re in favour of democracy, but only when the result is favourable to you.

If it doesn’t, where does that leave democracy?

Don’t be fooled into thinking that all leave voters voted that way because of anything Gove or Boris or twatface Farage said…

Most are remain, equal numbers of out and undecided and I reckon most of the undecideds will vote remain when it comes to ticking the box.

    I’m out for the craic.

Oh barf! I’ve never really looked closely at what they look like, but we all get ticks every summer when we go sailing in Scotland. We do a tick check everyday and the blighters are removed with tweezers (my husband is now quite the pro). But the first one we ever found was in my belly button and was pretty full, it had clearly been there for several days! Again, barf!

I’d check the dog and yourself for others…

It’s probably just a case of people trying to find some content that they can manufacture a storm about in the hope that it draws traffic to their little bit of the web. And that isn’t intended to be aimed at the photographer although it will have worked out very well for her.

Debate about click bait/social media manipulation aside, it still raises the point that most humans are not scumbags and suggesting that a photo of a father caring for his sick child is possibly pedophilia simply highlights a lot about what is wrong with society these days.

Onzadog, I do understand the differing views on sharing it on social media.

But I really, really, really don’t understand the following:

“…for some people the image is inappropriate at best and at worst has undertones of pedophilia”

The human race needs to take a long hard look at itself!

Cy, I guess the reason you don’t do XS frames anymore is because you didn’t sell enough of them? Would love to get one for the wee one’s first 26″ build.

#cotickidz has a nice ring to it 🙂

PS: That new red looks awesome!

We lost our last 2 chickens to a fox last weekend, although it was very decent and carried out the massacre elsewhere, so the kids didn’t have to find Sage and Dolly in bits.

Mashed potatoes. I did not start eating them until i was in my twenties.

We have a 6 year old who won’t eat mash, I was kinda hoping it would be a short term thing! Oh well 🙂

I’d 2nd Pinnacle Ramin, 2015 models reduced atm, with a couple of ex-demo bargains too. Think they come with a 120mm fork from the Ramin 4 up.

Woke up this morning feeling a bit stuffed up. Felt fine all day. Took the kids to their swimming lessons at teatime and BAM! I am full on blocked up now. Propped up pillow night, full of decongestants and old speckled hen.

    Yip I’d complain.

We shouldn’t all be forced to pander to the lowest common denominator in society. For the sake of future generations surely we should be trying to raise our game?

I went for a 30 miles bike ride

So did I, although not with RD.

****’ headwind the whole way back and after a massive ulster fry too! Barf.

Hang on, I work weekends and get no extra pay, that’s what I knew I was getting into when I chose my career.

I don’t think Drs should be paid more for working weekends, they should be paid a fair wage for the job they do, regardless of the day.

Can somebody explain why the focus of the Junior Drs debate has become weekend working? Surely the important factor in all of this is that Drs shouldn’t be forced into doing dangerous levels of overtime, regardless of the day?

Couple of weeks back, got caught out by a crosswind from a side street and blown right across to the other side of the road. Thankfully it was early morning and there was no traffic at the time :O

Bencooper those are awesome photos! Can’t wait to show the kids. We visit Lochaline every summer and the kids love watching the mining trucks and machinery.

OP, I’ve cycled up the coast a bit on the hybrid and it’s a really lovely cycle. I hope to get a bit further this year, now that the kids are older and up a couple of wheel sizes 🙂
