I was concerned when Steve wasn’t presenting the media show at 1630 today and then it all made sense once I listened to PM. Hope he’s well enough to host the media show again next week. His spots on PM are addictive listening, what an honest, articulate man.

Great fat shedding results chub club!

I’ve had the lurgy for a fortnight which came with a free 12 day headache for no extra charge. Back on the eating wagon this week, hoping to get the exercise back on track in the next couple of days. Looking back at my sickness record in work, it seems I’m always sick in January, so I’ll take it on the chin and take solace from the fact that it’s now February.

Happy eating and moving STW CC 🙂

I struggle to form an opinion on abortion. I have given birth to 2 healthy children and I don’t believe that at any point I could’ve made the decision to kill the heartbeat in my stomach. But I was never made to decide, I was never in that situation, so I don’t see how I can know.

If you abort a baby, you are then induced to give birth to that (now dead) baby. Horrific. Hardly a decision any woman would take lightly? But I also believe that an unborn child is just that, a child, a human, so why should even it’s mother be allowed to kill him/her?

It’s a really complex issue with no easy answers IMO

I’ve stayed the same, which I’m actually quite pleased with since I’ve had a terrible week with illness, lack of exercise and bad food choices. Still gives me a 1 lb/week loss, so I’m happy enough.

I agree, the older stuff is best (apart from the most excellent Cabin pressure of course!)
We’re particular fans of Men from the ministry in this house (circa 1970’s!) and I love a bit of Old Harry’s Game.

Worth hunting out some of the old crime drama series like Lord Peter Wimsey and Paul Temple.

The now show has really gone downhill in recent years IMO and it took me a while to warm to Miles Jupp hosting the news quiz, but enjoying it again now. Dead ringers is up and down, as is Count Arthur strong.

I’ve started doing yoga and kettlebells twice a week. I am loving the kettlebell thing! The yoga is boring, but it’s good to feel stretchy.

Binge mode here! Breakfast – poached eggs & toast. Lunch – lentil soup.

Dinner – Lasagne, salad, coleslaw, garlic bread, 3/4 bottle red wine, galaxy caramel, 1/2 a brownie, 2 quality street….so far. Hmmmm. Lucky next weigh in is 2 weeks time!

Well done on all the losses, some big ones!

I’m -3lbs this morning, which I’m well chuffed with.

This week I kept a food diary (the link is below if you want a read). My approach to this was to simply eat less than I normally would and to add a bit of strength/stretching into my week. Next week will have a pile of commuting miles, so it will be interesting to see if I can control my post commute binges…

I’m still in work and the only thing stopping me from raiding my emergency chocolate bar / crisp pile, is knowing I have weigh in tomorrow morning.

    Well done chub club!

I have my 2013 26″ full susser up for sale, it’s in good nick and a decent spec. Tbh, if I don’t get £700 for it, I’ll keep it. I have 2 other 26″ bikes, so I can use its parts or my 2 daughters might get use of it in years to come.

I’m surprised that when I look at the 2017 27.5″ equivalents, they are no lighter and don’t have significantly different geometry…

But I guess fashion sells and the MTB community fell for the marketing hook, line and sinker.

    😆 ^^^^^

I’ve been keeping a food diary this week, if I lose weight on Friday I’ll share it. No idea how many calories I’ve been eating in a day, I’ve just been eating less than I usually would.

Jamie, that looks quite tasty. Thanks for your wheatberry self sacrifice. Has anyone goggled WTF a wheatberry is yet?

Sounds like a mixed bag over the weekend, but I reckon that even being conscious of what you’re putting in your mouth (even if it’s rubbish) helps you eat less.

Which is what I told myself last night after I had a large glass of red and 4 ferrero rocher from the Christmas pile.

Jamie, I’m just so sad for you 😯 😆

How did we all get on over the weekend?

I was working lates and resisted the usual takeaway option and took in a homemade meal both nights, so that’s a win for me 🙂 Working also meant no alcohol, so off to a good start.

Good going Rocco, sounds like a decent start! I had 2/3rds of a bottle of red and an entire lindt bear last night *facepalm*

I’ve got 2 late shifts this weekend, which usually involves takeaway pizza/Chinese/curry for dinner, but instead I’ve just lifted my roast veg and cajun spiced chicken breasts out of the oven to take with me. 8)

    I’m in.

Fell off my bike on some ice in 2013, tore ankle ligaments, put on a stone while I couldn’t ride. I’ve maintained the gain since then. Time to shift it 🙂

Weighed in on Monday – 151 lbs
    1 month target – 146 lbs
    3 month target – 141 lbs
    6 month target – 136 lbs

Not back until 0530 Thurs, but kids not back to school until tomorrow and I have root canal to look forward to this afternoon. Think I’d rather be back at work!

Never left. And tbh, there still seems to be plenty of 26 spares kicking about, so no need. Not sure I’d buy a new 26er bike though…

Pinnacle Ramin 29er – did the most commuting duties
Singlespeed Pinnacle Iroko 26 – such fun!
    Cotic BFe 26
    Commencal Meta Full Susser 26
Giant Avail Road bike – only got it in July

I had a rather tame MTB year, mostly XC and commuting, hoping to change that in 2017…

    Hi Weeksy,

What Wellgo pedals are those? My 8 yo could do with something better than the pedals which came with her Beinn 24, those look not to stupidly big and lethal! 🙂

    Thanks.

    Here’s a tutorial from my 6yo…

My top tip for desoldering – if you’re having trouble sucking all the solder away from the legs/hole, try adding a bit more solder first.

Report him for mobile phone use while driving.

A stupid old bag reversed out of our neighbors driveway while on her phone and nearly wiped out my kids on their bikes. I wish I’d reported her.

Decent waterproof bottoms, you’re gonna spend a reasonable amount of time on your ass.

Also, like MTB, speed is your friend.

And lastly, I’ve worn a helmet since smashing the back of my head on a failed toe edge turn in icy Scotland, I’d highly recommend wearing one.

We’ve worked out that falling off, piles and world conflict were all due to people being confused by front derailleurs, so we don’t have those anymore

If we’re talking about CARING about those we know who are unhealthy due to their weight, surely the best thing you can do is to give them some of your time, not lecture them about the obvious? Suggest a walk? Couch to 5k? A gentle cycle? A once a week evening walk might start a habit which will ultimately lead them to a healthier life.

I was able to just screw a GoPro adapter to my Chinese Cree light for use on my helmet.

The usual mix of STW advice 🙂 Thanks to all.

Sounds like a trip to the music shop is in order.

She isn’t getting a violin (for now). Guitar is a cheap and easy way to explore whether or not she’s serious about playing an instrument, then we can discuss the violin…

    Cheers! 🙂

In our case (6 and 8 yo girls) we’ve found that bad behaviour is directly proportional to screen/stuck inside time.

As a result, they generally get no more than about an hour a day of TV/tablet and play outside as much as they can. It helps that this year they’ve made new friends a couple of doors up to play with in the street.
