Just back from a family holiday in NZ and managed to get a days riding in Wairoa Gorge.
    https://www.thegorge.nz/

My goodness that’s a great day out on the bike if you like it steep and techy. If you make it to Nelson, don’t miss out.

I hired a bike (Evil Insurgent) from https://gravitynelson.co.nz/

Great vid, great bikes. And the new Flare front triangles being made by Five Land, excellent! Looking forward to getting my hands on one!

Yeah, they seem to be taking their time alright, been waiting since September 2017 to buy a Flare! But hey ho, since I did without a FS last spring/summer I’m not too fussed, as long as they have it out before next Spring/Summer otherwise it’ll probably be a Transition Scout for me.

See if there are any over 20’s/30’s nights, our local skatepark just started doing a monthly over 30’s one. I’m a total beginner and they were all really friendly, welcoming and encouraging, I had a total blast. No 12 year old kids pointing and laughing and hoping you’ll fall.

Never throught about it before, but now realise it was about 2001 (20yo) when I bought my BMX. It was one of those mushroom shaped skate helmets. Never wore one other than on the BMX. Next helmet I bought was in 2006 before touring round Normandy on my hybrid.

There’s a local 10 mile loop which has a bit of everything – road, gravel, loam, roots, beach, rocks, grass.

It isn’t an adrenaline filled gnar fest, but it always makes me smile.

Same here tomd1984, the current dry dusty trails have fuelled my impatience! When it starts pissing down again I’ll be happy to wait.

Another patient LS Flare waiterer here 🙂

As much as I wish it was gonna be out sooner, it’s good to know they’re making it right before releasing it.

I emailed last week incase they had a vague idea of whether it was gonna be weeks or months, but Paul gave zippo away lol

Make sure you keep some of them, they sound cool 🙂

Our youngest wrote her numbers backwards until she was 6 despite constant correction by us and teacher at school.

The licence fee payer would frown upon such things, we feel spoilt if we get a plate of own brand digestives and a thermos of naff coffee.

Thanks Roverpig, I’ve been following your insta pics with a little (lots) of jealousy.I know what you mean about May – same here! I currently ride a 26″ BFe with 2.4″ tyres and I’m not willing to go bigger than standard width 27.5. I’m also a short arse and I think even the small FlareMAX is a wee bit too big for me. Keep the pics coming, glad you’re enjoying the new bike!

Yes somafunk, I too struggle to find decent chances to have a go at the PSNI. A discussion on ebikes on an internet forum seems like too good an opportunity to miss. Bravo.

And they wonder why NI is so backward.

Was at Castlewellan a few weeks back and the place was full of them! I have zero issues with ebikes, except that on this occasion they seemed to be hired mainly by 13 year old boys with no respect for the rest of the trail users. Nearly took my wee girl out as she pedalled up a hill while they flew past shouting “Get her in turbo mode, yeeooooooooo!”

Have to say, I took a little bit of delight when one of them turbo’d their way to a sore crotch on the pump track later on.

Probably just a one off, but if I have the same experience again, I’ll be having a word with the hire place and the park staff.

Superb, thanks all, great pointers and resources there.

Will let you know how we get on 🙂

    Cheers colournoise.

We sail up that way in the summer and I always have my BFe with me, chickened out of giving it a whirl last year.

So from the above comments, am I right in thinking the FW Red isn’t hardtail suitable?

I got offered a job as a linesman (well, woman). It was prob about 15 years ago now, but I was asked to use spikes to climb a pole and then change an insulator. Great fun! Kinda regret not taking the job. Good luck to your son.

So the dog didn’t bite your wife then? She rode away and crashed her bike?

Has she done that sort of thing before?

So the OP’s wife should’ve stopped and hoped that it wasn’t bitey dog?

Fantastic work, those who’ve already met their goal!

I’m still wallowing about at a 4-5 lbs loss since we started, but it’s not frustrating, I know I only have myself to blame for the mediocre loss. Although without the CC, I’d be 4-5 lbs heavier than I am now, so it’s not all doom and gloom 🙂

Would be nice to get another couple of pounds off in the next few weeks. My weekly bike miles have been increaasing recently, thanks to the stretching light, so hopefully that’ll help.

    Keep on keeping on CC!

Just picked up an XS Merida big seven 300 for my daughter – she’s turning 10 in a couple of weeks and is average height. She’s also moving up from an Islabike Beinn 24. We really struggled to find anything which satisfied my requirements in terms of spec and her requirement that IT MUST BE BLUE!

Got it on C2W, so saved quite a few pennies.

Does anyone else do that thing where you want a snack, you know what snack you want but then you munch through several different healthy snacks, trying to avoid the bad snack, before finally succumbing to the original snack desire anyway.

Overall kcal count is higher than if you’d just eaten what you really wanted in the first place.

When alcohol is involved, this is my general cycle.

Sorry OP, not helpful, just wanted to share.

Oh, actually, red peppers and humous or babybel with branston. M&S prawn crackers or mini poppadums are less kcals than a similar sized bag of proper crisps.

@simondbarnes 15%???? That’s ludicrous! I presume LBS get enough of a discount from bike suppliers/manufacturers to make it worthwhile?

Back to where I started. Ho hum. Tbf, I hadn’t lost very much, so it wasn’t that hard, but still.

    I’m using the following excuses:

    1. 60 hour week at work.

    2. Morbid fear of cycling on ice after faling off 3 years ago.

    3. Recent lack of cycle commuting (see above)

People voted in the EU referendum based on what politicans said???

    I certainly didn’t.

OP, the EU referendum campaign probably had no more or less lies than a normal general election, you wouldn’t be calling for prosecution if ‘your’ party didn’t win a general election, or would you?

Also, while I’m here, t<span style=”font-size: 12.8px;”>he hatred towards leave voters on some platforms is akin to the hate illustrated by racists.</span><span style=”font-size: 12.8px;”> This is a sad state of affairs IMO. </span>

Oh, and yes I did vote to get rid of paying for yet another layer of men in suits in my life.

    – 0.5 lb again #teamtortoise

Seems like a rubbish loss but I’ve consistently gone the right way and thanks to Rob’s excel-lent skills, I noticed this morning that I’ve actually lost 25% of my target, so really pretty chuffed with that! Hoping to still make my target at the end of March as exercise increases over the next month.

On 1700kcals a day with a couple of off plan days a week, so it’s really not that difficult if you’re happy to take it slooooooow.

OP, sorry to hear what happened today, what a ****, get him reported if you can. Hope venting on here helped a little.
