three times now I’ve been hit by chav’s throwing a tin of pop at me, bloody hurts and they never stop and allow me to thank them… Bloody hurts, especially when it hits the ribs area

Mondeo all day long…. Or a Toyota Avensis, there are some highly equipped bargains out there for £5K. My 09 plater has 90K on clock and with sat nav, leather, panoramic roof etc is going to make someone a cracking used car in 12 months time, only ever needed servicing so far. I’ve had 5 blokes with two bikes on roof and three on tow bar rack and it still pulled well with a (in comparison to zee german marques) 128bhp, always does 40mpg and low Co2. You may not get a modern example but the older ones still run on and on and on

cracking, will only work in a large open space where you can see the RC chopper, couldn’t follow an MTBer through a forest surely…

I’m no BMXer but I love how some cities build beautifully crafted, smooth parks for the kids, our councils efforts look utterly pathetic next to them..

if you go A69 M6 then you’re spoilt for choice!! Depends on how keen you are on sitting in traffic…..

You could do a nice route around Rivington, not far off J28 M6 and a good break into the journey

@P20: I think they’re are the same size in a 29er, I’m 6’0″ and found it quite comfy and not overly stretched, unfortunately my back just can’t take hardtail abuse. As an XC bike it’s a flier and I’ve took it down soom fairly techy routes too and it was very capable. 29ers tend to get quite long stems too and slight geometry tweaks are easily..

You can check out the geometry sizing here

If you’re on the M62 corridor I’d happily meet up and let you size it…

First £1000 can have it, before I split it up for bits…. it now has Hope M4 brakes, 203mm and 183mm rear and are the same age as the bike, four months…. 19″ frame and cost £2200 to build in March

I’m about to break this baby up, I can’t do hardtails. The frame is 19″ and only 4 months old with less than 150 miles on clock, with new hope BB and seat QR and the original FSA headset i’m looking for half of the £899 I paid for the frame..

I’m about to post up some three month old pristine Hope M4’s for £225, they were on a 29er I’ve sold…… 203 front and 183 rears, still have original pads in…

I’ve just sold my Trek/GF rumblefish 29er and have a Niner Air9 for Sale, and bought a 26 Lapierre Zesty 514. I did look at an X29er and to be honest it just looked really flimsy in comparison, it looks like it should be ridden by someone at least 8ft tall, all out of proportion… I’ve experienced the benefits of 29er wheels and whist they roll really well and the rumblefish was a monster downhill bike I’ve not thought twice about buying another 26er Zesty 514. It feels mega light in comparison even with a 21.5 frame (both rumblefish and the Niner are 19″ and I’m 6ft) but each to their own….

why does everyone have to snipe at people who want to do Llandegla?? It’s one of the best trail centres in the UK, the track is impeccably maintained and the facilities are A1. Yes it’s a ‘manufactured’ trail but it does a great job of giving people somewhere to ride, try new skills and is pretty predictable in all weathers.

I got into MTB’ing 18 months ago and I used to go there weekly and the first time I went I could barely do the blue route without vomitting and I soon built up my fitness which it’s great for. Yes the halfords massif get there on their £99 bikes but my first bike was £300 and now have £6k worth so maybe Llandegla is the first rung on the ladder for MTB’ers??

The first 2.5 miles are a long manageable drag but then it depends on which route. The blue which is actually quite entertaining is a deffo on an SS, the red route has ‘the double steep’ which has most geared riders pushing up and there’s a few smaller ones near the end which would be challenging.

The Black route continually descends (via lots of berms, table tops etc 8) ) to the bottom of the forrest and then there is some climbing back out via switchbacks, but manageable if your fit enough. Personally I’d go geared…….

with regards to tyres, don’t worry about mud, there isn’t any at all, the surface will be wet in lots of places but the whole trail is really hard underneath and drains really well. They’ve re-laid the trails in lots of places and it’s very smooth at the minute even when wet. It didn’t trouble me on ardent and crossmark set up

I used to own a letting agency and managed 400 properties, mainly new builds to professionals but used to run a really tight ship on inventories, contracts etc. I had really low arrears and very little damage in general as I was very very clear that I’d expect properties to be left with fair wear and tear and not intentional damage.

On three occasions I deducted monies from security deposits and the tenant subsequently had me to small claims courts. On every occasion I produced an inventory signed by the tenant with ‘agreeable values’ for replacements, contracts that where crystal marked for clarity and were deemed fair etc and photographs of pre-tenancy and post tenancy with damage.

All three cases were gifted to the tenant on the basis the landlord ‘had the benefit of the rent’….

On the last occasion I queried if the judge had ever rented a hire car and then torn the seats, spilled red wine on the seats and let his dog shat on the seats and then took it back and said to Avis/Enterprise etc ‘well you’ve had the rental’ and he said “absolutely not”.

My advice is use the money to do the repairs but if the tenant(s) starts small claims proceedings be prepared to pay up either before court or at court. If you lose the worst you have to do is pay the money + £35 costs and pay then or the CCJ will go on file after 7 days of non payment.

The courts weigh heavily against tenants as they still think a landlord is someone who jumps into their swimming pool of Champagne every morning ………..

I’ve got a set of two month old Hope M4’s (203 and 183 discs, mounts the whole lot) for sale, £225 + postage, email in my profile…

I have X2’s on another bike and like TandemJeremy states they are great for interchangability and spares, just love hope brakes as they will always be backed up with good service too

The DERV nozzles simply deliver the fuel at a faster rate, could you imagine standing waiting for 250 gallons of diesel to fill up at the same rate as a car?!

On my Cube the Formula the one’s are astoinishing and on my 29er the M4’s are equally as good, I drag my brakes and I’m 18st. I’ve sold my 29er and the M4’s (three months old!) are coming off and will be for sale, 203mm rear and 185mm rear, email me on my email on profile if you’re interested in paying £250 for them

I had racing ralph in tubeless form and they were astonishingly good with tubes in, as soon as I spent a fortune making them tubeless they deformed and wouldn’t sit on the rim.. For that price I’d give them a go. I just bought some Maxxis Ardents and Crossmarks which are now £50 each, so I may run some myself in the future but tubed

i’ve got mine insured with Evans Cycle Insurance, £3300 Trek Rumblefish, £1600 NINER Air 9 and a £900 Cube road bike and it costs about £50 a month. Insured on the bike rack, locked to a fence, in my garage etc etc. I had a claim last year for a theft from bike rack on tow bar and they paid up within two weeks…

I totally agree, mine has blown it’s seals three times now and some other guys have had other problems with remotes. When they work they are sublime, but more than often they’re out of service. Typical American product mentality= ‘how fast can we get our product to the market, not, let’s take the product to market when it’s ready”…

I thought this post was about me!! regretably I’m looking for a buyer for my beloved Niner Air 9, 19″ frame, X9, Reba RLT’s, Tubeless, KMC Chain, Hope BB, Hope seat QR, Hope X2 brakes to briefly spec it. Bought it in Feb and it’s super fast and great fun but I prefer my Rumblefish for comfort due to a back issue. £1300 ONO, cost well over £2k to build.

I used to own an FSR XC which the camber has evolved into and it was an excellent buy, it had 12 months of being ridden 4-5 times a week. I started off at 21st and was 18st when it was nicked. Great VFM and the Camber’s are a beautiful loooking bike too. I’ve never been took with the ‘only a mother could love’ look of Giants

I would buy the 960 which is half the price of the 1080, I put my 1080HD in R4 mode which is 960 because when 1080 mode is selected it narrows the field of vision to 127 degrees from the 170 degrees, thus making the 1080 a 960!! Their best kept secret, people like me paying £300 for a camera and using it in £169 mode…

Tollah turn it upside down and select the UPD function, now it will pivot from the top and allow you to ‘lift’ the camera up to make it level and get more of the trail view in and your handlebars will be at bottom of picture and not so dominant

    geordiemick00

Don’t think if you want a go pro you have to buy the £300 HD! The 960 is £160 and most people (like me) don’t film in the full HD setting as it narrows the field of vision down to 127 degrees.

    I wish I’d have bought the 960 as I use the 1080 in a 960 mode!

You’re recording in R5 which is the full 1080p setting, this reduces the field of vision down to 127 degrees from 170ish, set it at R4 which is full width of the lens and in an equally as good 960p.

CLICK ME for instructions on how to change.

I’ve always filmed in R4 and an example on my Cube Stereo Race..

EDIT! That one was on my Rumblefish!

    This was on my Cube..

Sugar knew he were an engineer before he took him on, so if that’s his opinion then don’t take the guy on instead of drag him through a long drawn out ‘game show’, sorry, ‘process’ and then dump him for being an engineer. To me it was the face don’t fir but he couldn’t he arsed to ‘engineer’ a decent excuse to get rid of him….

Personally I’d say more like Halfords, but what large outfit don’t pile them high and sell them cheap??? That said I did buy a Compaq lap top from them 7 years ago and it’s still working, give or take 300 re-formats, hours and hours of dithering and multiple viruses.

The Mac I bought two years ago has been faultless, never had to hit ctrl+alt+delete once and works about three times as fast, wouldn’t entertain a windows PC ever again….

it is similar as the avid brake bleed kit in the sense that it uses the same syringes and same banjo adapter but the main difference is it uses 2.5wt SUSPENSION oil instead of brake fluid,

And like other comments above get proficient at bleeding it and doing it often. Ensure it has 250Psi of air in the schraeder valve in the bottom too

IMHO it’s the most overhyped, overpriced product in the MTB market at present. Mine has blown it’s air seals for the third time in 4 months, not happy at all.

Agree with the exploitation comment, like Orange they know they have a following and can price themselves accordingly. I just bought a pair of 29er LUST’s and they were £50 each, but I like them and trust them so I pay the price. One thing I don’t cut corners is on tyres and brakes.
