What credit has she got on the car and when can she hand it back? Previously I have given cars back and it’s cost less than hanging on to them.

She owes £4k to voluntarily terminate, then she has no car and unable to finance another.

Pitting of the block sounds extreme but if its had no anti freeze….

That’s what they’re saying, lack of AF has allowed rust to get into the water chambers, or something like that.

As someones who’s had LVT fitted and ripped up and a legal case with the supplier, I suggest getting it glued.

We only had 14sq m but it was in the conservatory and after 6 months it warped. The supplier tried to blame just about everything, the new screed, the fitting, the storage, everything and everything.

If you’re fitting it to a conservatory then be very, very careful.

if you have underfloor heating, then get the product data sheets of the product and double check.

We ended up replacing it with top of the range tarkett cushion floor in the end, the hassle was unreal.

after having my bike nicked from the garage, we did this and after a year or so here’s my observations..

Getting into an up and over is easy, because most of them have a petty cash box-esque cylinder which can be bust fairly quickly and with little noise.

The roller door frees up a bit more useful space, like places to hang spades, brushes etc in that void a up and over takes.

Our door feels really strong, i’m sure it won’t take a car reversing into it, but getting in through it would make some serious noise too, plus there’s no lock to breach as it’s also an electric door.

We’re pleased with ours, best £800 we’ve spent for a while.

I did it in 1997 at Newcastle Crown Court.
Day one, sat bored all day.
Day two, selected for an indecent exposure case. Guy had alledgedly gone to his door and flashed his chopper at some kid, blatantly concocted, load of kids trying to get the local odd ball in bother. There was so much doubt about ability of see him in his doorway from where they claimed, the judge put us all on a coach and took us to the scene.

The kids gave evidence on video link and giggled when the correct terms for male genitalia where used, didn’t appear to see any sense of severity. When the guy was aquitted he broke down in the dock and looked genuine.

The case ended a day before my two weeks were up. on the last day I got selected again and in the lift on the way up to the court room to be sworn in, he said “i hope you all have plenty of time because this one’s going to be a long one!”

We were told it would be a six week case and it was 378 counts of child abuse against a 10 year old boy and 12 year old girl. We had weeks of harrowing accounts from severely withdrawn kids, interviewed on camera at special units ay hospitals, their demeanour in comparison to the previous case couldn’t have been more contrasting…

When you hear a ten year old describe how an 18 stone grown man used to bully him and abuse him, they’re words that never leave you. The guy was such a bully, he even persuaded the kids mum (he was the B/F not biological father) to testify against them saying they were fantasists. We had day after day of just truly shocking info thrown at us.

The second last week was purely the judge reading his notes, like he’d recorded every word in the court, word for word, then we retired to consider our verdicts. The judge directed us toa not guilty on the first count, but the other 377 were up for debate.

It took a week to go through them, it was a massive task and it was prolonged by one guy who refused to go guilty on one of the charges, digging his heels in. depsite the face we’d convicted him on the other 376, i wasn’t about to relent. Then we got the offer to accept a majority verdict and within minutes we were all back in the court and as jury foreman, I was giving the verdicts, which took nearly two hours in itself.

The worst shock was he got a sentence not far off a driving offence.

Back in 2019 I was called up again and I refused, I wrote a letter saying after doing 8 weeks and suffering lots of mental stress on my first stint, that should be enough to exclude me from ever doing it again and they agreed and removed me from the list.

The expenses are rubbish, I was £100 a week out of pocket at the time, the food in the court thought was actually decent.

anything but Ring. I fitted two of their cameras (stick up cams) and for two weeks they worked well. The night that my garage was done over and my bike taken, they picked up nothing. I complained to them and had a call with someone in USA who wanted me to tell them my losses. As soon as I gave them the value of the bike I got stonewalled by them.

The flaw with Ring is a) it’s motion detected, no motion then no recording b) Their parent company Amazon sells wi-fi jammers that makes the aforementioned issue a real problem to them.

Ripped them out, returned them and bought a Nest camera like the one my next door neighbour had that recorded what the Ring camera failed to do.

When I do it again I will buy a hardwired HIK vision system with an IP gateway as it’s not susceptible to wifi jammers.

They’re tubeless ready which means a tubeless compatible bead but need sealant to hold air.

it’s got nearly 80ml of Muc off sealant in it.

You think I should just ride it and keep topping it up until all the sealant has filled the smaller holes?

Nothing is leaking from the bead or the tread, just sidewalls.

I stumbled accross him in 2017 in Didsbury, as he was on his mission to film the mosques around South Manchester. My curiousity got the better of me and thought the only way to approach the situation was to shout ‘tommeehhhhh’ and his little eyes lit up he’d been recognised.

After a short while he rumbled me for what i was, an imposter trying to take the P out of him nicely (probably because I wasn’t wearing Stone Island or CP Co clothing) and he switched off and walked off. He’s a monumental narcissist and hopefully he’ll be cancelled for the tenth time and stay cancelled.

Notwithstanding the above, I’m also gobsmacked a four day case can run up a £600,000k legal bill, it’s just further proof that civil justice really is attainable with plenty of wedge and defamation is an absolute money spinner for the legal system.

Thanks guys, I’ve put it in eco mode and as the bath and kitchen sink are about 10ft max either side of the boiler, the time taken to get hot was acceptable. That said, it did fire up 5am this morning lol

it started out as an actually useful process in an engine, but when the car scene got wind of it they started to manipulate it so the manufacturers realised that it’s a sales winner so put it into production on their AMG’s/RS’/M’s/ST’s etc etc.

Then it got so annoying they had to bring in soft limiters to stop the drivers having competitions to annoy the locals down at the local retail parks.

It’ll soon pass because we’ll all by taxed into boring milk floats real soon.

    Embrace it whilst it’s here.

I can see this is taking a predictable STW turn!

the replies haven’t reached into four figures yet, so it’s far from that.

But in typical STW fashion i’ll accuse you of being wrong and you must have a retort that suggest i’m wrong too !

    quick update!

Fooring shop has now coffed up for the floor, but still refusing extra costs, so i’ll be filing a claim any day now.

Seriously – you will need to prove that there was a manufacturing fault with the flooring and its nothing to do with the installation.

They haven’t got any proof that the floor has been tested in any way at all for suitability in pretty much most areas, i’ll start there…

    geordiemick00
    Free Member

You have two issues. 1) You have to prove the flooring was faulty. 2) you have to prove the incidental losses are because of the faulty flooring

Agreed, however, the owner and the importer have both been out. If the owner didn’t think there was an issue with the flooring i.e. it was fine then he wouldn’t have sent the importer out after that to looks at it after he has.

Also, my issue is they have absolutely no technical evidence to prove the flooring has been tested to any standard whatsoever.

Looks at any flooring manufacturers website and most floors have undergone around 30 tests for wear, lightfastness, Chair leg test, fire resistance, swelling, moisture tolerance, UV etc etc to name a few.

They knocked up a word document and sent it then said that’s all they had.

How can they blame the installation making the flooring warp when the floor hasn’t attained any standards whatsoever??

    geordiemick00

OP did it start to warp when the temperature outside started to rise and conservatory warmed up due to more sunlight?

Exactly what happened. When I asked them for technical data sheet they couldn’t show any of the standards that every other flooring manufacturers have on theirs.

I spoke to Karndeans technical people who told me themark which products they have are not suitable for conservatories. But I had to go through this whole ordeal to find that out.

Ah, the Ling’s Cars OP; thought I recognised the user name

I expected this to be mentioned much, much sooner than this 🤣

The moral – buy cheap, buy twice.
Next time ask for a supplier-approved installer and be clear at the outset about liability.

To be fair it’s £45 a pack, we originally found asked for Karndean and was told stock was thin on the ground as we’d just come out of lockdown. We mentioned it was for a conservatory, they asked was the floor level and said it was for the DIY’er. Of they’d offered installation we’d have taken it because we had a nightmare finding an installer.

Thanks all, i was listening to LBC last night as I was walking my dog and they had a legal hour at 0pm, so rang in and spoke to a barrister.

Explained the case and he said they are liable for the installation and skirting boards.

Whilst you might be ‘right’ suing through the courts won’t necessarily get you any money. Even if you win you still have to get your money which can mean going back to court for an enforcement order then hiring bailiffs etc. A lot of hassle for bugger all.

I am aware of this, but i’ve credit checked them and they have no CCJ’s. This is about principle and brinkmanship.

Ironically i read a google review and a guy had got them out to measure a carpet, arranged £300 price and left a key to fit the beige carpet when he was at work. When he came home they had fitted a blue carpet. When he rang the up he told them it was the fitters fault and to take it up with the fitter.

    geordiemick00
    Free Member

If you’d picked up the Karndean and had it fitted by a trained fitter, they’d have taken the floor moisture levels first to check for excessive moisture and if there was, remedy it before fitting the floor and leaving you with a 30 year guarantee.

That’s what we went to the shop for, they talked us out of it and said this stuff was the next best thing and didn’t need a specialist to lay it.

I even offered them to re-supply Karndean and fit and and credit what we’re asking and they refused. This is an issue of their doing, surely?

You didn’t have a fitter though, you had a joiner

Isn’t a time served joiner with a BSC Hons in construction too not capable of laying a product labelled as ‘for the DIY’er’?

Here’s someone who can BA and I wholeheartedly applaud him.

    Thanks.

    Really interesting reoplies coming through.

I haven’t physically seen a doctor, they won’t see me in person or give me s spirograph?? cos of Covid.

My two last blue inhalers both had so little use they were both two years out of date by the time I felt the need to use them and that was more because my chest had an irritating whislte/wheeze than any lack of ability to breathe.

Interestingly the nurse mentiones COPD which killed my mum in 2017, but she was an absolute chimney for 60 years and had an alcohol addition as well as cholesterol issues, but she wasn’t overweight. She had both her legs amputated too.

I’ve never smoked except hers when I was a kid. Could COPD be a thing for someone at my age??

I can’t google it, i’d be booking my funeral by the end of today if i did lol

If your snoring is that bad, you may have some form of sleep apnoea, which can make you feel generally unwell, lethargic and less likely to want to exercise – it’s also associated with heartburn.

Obesity is a bit of a vicious circle, every extra symptom makes getting rid of the weight a bigger effort.

The heartburn has gone now i don’t drink any carbonated drinks! I get a little if I had an pastry but always did.

I had an MRI in 2020 for sinus issues and the doctor said my septum isn’t deviated and it’s probably my excess weight causing it. Right up until I hit 19 stone i never snored.

I stopped snoring. Though I still snored at BMI 24, was only when I got down to 23 that it stopped. And that was pretty lean!

Sorry if that’s no use at all!

I started snoring really bad too so this does help!

Well done Slowbloke, that’s some going

What do you hope to gain from an official diagnosis?

    so I dont do this…

You might not have it at all, it could just be personality traits, so don’t put that label on yourself until you are sure.

My sytmpoms could be put onto a venn diagram that would cover about 4 very distinct conditions, so I’m keen to hear experiences of Dyspraxia as it covers the majority of the major symptoms I suffer with.

As stated above, I’d rather a professional confirm it in the right manner.

Can I confirm you are transferring the files to your computer, not just viewing them on your camera? (via the laptop)

transferred from micro SD card to laptop.

This can be quite important if the camera uses MTP and not USB mass storage as seeking in MTP is broken in a lot of instances so there is no way to FF/RW.

This appears to be the exact problem.

I’ve been in and out of car allowance V Company car sceanrios all my life.

I’ve had the £650pcm allowance then 45p/25ppm. The £650 is taxable and the 45p/25pm isn’t. very generous scheme, but very rare.

last job, I had a company car, a £40k Audi A4 Black Edition which they sell to lease companies for £30k, but i’m taxed on the full RRP for every year I have it. £400 pcm extra tax, but was worth it for the lack of financial liability to me. When they made me redundant I handed it back.

Now, I’m in a new job and it’s car allowance only. £600pcm which is taxed then 15p per mile which is shit. Like a lot of companies now, they want you to just about cover your fuel and then claim the difference at the end of the tax year on a P87. I’m covering England and Wales and before long, i’ll be all over the country putting moon miles on my car (a 65 plate £13k E Class E220d) which after three years will be worth not much.

At the end of the tax year I’ll be lucky if I get £1500 k back in tax which probably won’t cover any bills I’ve accrued for the 0k i’ll have done. This irk’s me because they expect me to foot the cost of motoring and wait 12 months for the government to refund me a percentage of the difference from 15ppm to the 45ppm/25ppm.

If they bin me off next month I’m stuck with a car that I probably won’t need, because i’d guarantee the next one will have a car.

we get 0.15ppm and claim the difference back at end of tax year.

The company doesn’t currently claim the VAT back so thinking that may be an incentive for them to allow use of the company credit card for all fuel then employee re-imburse via payroll.

A lot of the reps do huge mileages and they’re out of pocket a lot.

    UPDATE

They sacked me this morning, usual pish excuses.

Told them they will have to give me a float or the fuel card they’ve promised since December to fill my truck.

He just spat his dummy and said it wasn’t working, part company with a weeks notice and they’ll come pick my vehicle up next week.

Spoke to ACAS this morning and they feel given the info I have, they have deducted my pay illegally.

    geordiemick00

Because I’ve not been there 2 years they won’t give me a reason when sacking me I’d guess.

Probably better trying to lever them to giving me a full pay and a weeks notice and be gone.

They’ve cut a thousand corners and I also have the fact that their whole fleet of company vehicless are pool vehicles and taken home by the same people, which I’m sure HMRC would be interested in….
