Thanks everyone, I never thought about getting a new battery for the trout light.

Thanks Carlos – Ill give mtb batteries a call, how much was your new battery if you don’t mind me asking ? Sounds like this could be the way forward.

Thanks, yes good point i missed from my  first post. I would like a helmet light to go with a bar light. I don’t want a helmet light that needs a cable though.

so I guess £200 total for bar and helmet light .

We are going to Islay for the second time. That says a lot , I’ve been to every major island in the inner and outer Hebrides, Islay is the first one we want to go back to.
Mull and Colonsay are great, but I prefer Islay. Maybe it’s the whisky? 😉

Hi, I appear to have a corrupt fit file that won’t upload to Strava. Is this normal and is there a fix anyone knows of ?
    Cheers

It is hard for us to judge scale here , but the forth pic shows a cat with quite a muscular profile , a type you don’t see in domestic cats!

    Thanks tdog.
To me the first three look like a domestic cat, but the cat in the fourth pic really does have the profile of something different to a domestic . Interesting.

I don’t think there is any doubt that big cats live wild in the Uk . Is there a self sustaining population? That’s another question!
I class myself as a scientist rather than a believer of fantasy, but I have seen a ghost ! There’s a lot more going on in our planet than most people are aware of.

Just a quick update – So I joined my sons Karate club. I can’t believe it took me two years to do that ! I am really enjoying it and looking forward to immersing myself into it.
My son also loves it , he loves pointing out exactly what I’m doing wrong 🙂
If anyone else is in the same doubtful frame of mind as I was , then all I will say is go for it.

    Thanks for the comments all.
I don’t think I’m ever going to be the next Bruce Lee lol, it’s more about sharing something with my son, keeping fit and having a new challenge.
I was very keen to get my son involved as soon as he was old enough, I’m hoping it will give him a sense of confidence , pride and instil a bit of the theory that if you put a bit of work in to things which are seemingly impossible, you can achieve.
He is loving it and as it’s something I wished I had taken up as a kid , I’m thinking ‘ why not now ‘ .
I’m a Hatton boxing for fitness instructor currently , so have an idea of how it may hurt physically

I live in the back of beyond and am limited to a choice of 1 martial art (unless I want to drive for an hour)
I think that all the adults who go to my local club are really decent people , the instructor is also national Welsh team instructor so he knows his stuff. I think I’ll give it a go .

Yes no problem, give me a day or two to get back to you. Most of it is very hidden so It’s hard to explain, maybe best if I take you on a ride. But I’ll try to put some markers down in an emai too

    3 words : Bringewood & Mortimer forest 😉 ( or is that 4 words ?)
Seriously, if you know where you are going you can piece together a very high quality 3-4 hour ride here, almost all on excellent single track.
Much much better than the MTb marathon loop.

Hawke , opticron and also the RSPB own brand are great bins. Uttingsoutdoors.co.uk have great discounts on hawke and opticron.
Funnily enough though RSPB own brand scopes are pants, even thought the bins are great for the money.

I’m in exactly the same situation, work similar hours , wife is a teacher so always working too , have 2 young kids etc etc…..
I just don’t have time to train, my only relaxation is staying in bed until 9am on Saturday !
I do as much as I can , usually limited to two zwift races a week . Very occasionally l get a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
It’s so frustrating when I see people I know posting daily rides on Strava. They seem to have the same cash flow as me , but never seem to have to work 🙁

Will you take them on the tube ? On a plane ? stand in trafalger Square ? To watch the start of the tour in Yorkshire ? Etc etc ……
Of course the answer is yes. As similar to mentioned above , they are a lot more likely to come to harm in a freak lawn mowing accident !

I’d say it’s about right. It’s a 20 minute job to actually do the bleed, but they have to get the bike , rack it, get the tools together to do it, clean it up at the end, do the invoicing , etc etc. I guess it adds up to an hour ? I’d say 30 is bang on.

The Elan valley trail. I regularly go there with my 8 year old, it was his first proper outing when he learnt to ride at age 4 ish . It’s about 8 miles each way , and very enjoyable for a family ride. It’s flat with one easily manageable uphill section. There’s a great cafe and play park at the visitor centre too.

There are issues with altitude not being correct , especially when it’s raining and the little pressure window fills up. Just make sure you use the correct elevation feature on Strava. Other than that I love my 520. It’ is intended to be more for competitive type riding more than general touring and map following.
