Come for the spring festival, its a celebration of local ale, and sausages. Better than the main september food festival in my opinion.

Sorry mate, Only home at weekends, and with a young family I hardly see, I cant be bothered with going to post offices and posting things etc.

Thats why it needs to be collected. Im working In North Hampshire next week if its any help, I can always sling em in the car.

All trails are open, and in good nick for the time of year. I went last week.

Dont know what side of Shrews you are in, but Eastridge could be quicker to ride too than Nesscliffe. Much better as well (not that Ive ridden at Nesscliffe, but know it well from climbing).

Just got back from first outing at FoD.

Verderers was excellent, is it the best blue in the UK? tough call between it and Glentress Blue I reckon.

As above Red was OK, just too short,

I did 2 laps of the blue and red equating to 20 miles total.

Went to Eastridge last week IMO Eastridge is in a different class to FoD. Much much better for the ‘Average/experienced rider’, Not so good for newbies.

I wouldnt go for FoD over Afan et al.

haha. perhaps the Taliban have infiltrated STW forums, and are deciding who’s with or against them.

Ah, if its close then understandable, I live 40 minutes away, I go there for climbing, but for biking theirs, Eastridge, the Mynd, Hopton, Bringewood etc etc….

Yes if your a climber who climbs E3 or higher, If your a biker then not really worth the effort imo.

Over half the bikes sold in the USA last year were 29ers, I think that says they are here to stay.

It is very true, live everyday as if it was your last, is a good way to lead your life. You never know when its gonna end.

Ok, I spoke to Dave Pearce and we have a sort of way ahead.

Basically , Dave wants to re-develope Bringewood/Mortimer with full on XC trails etc. Its in his interest to do so, as its the nearest venue to Pearce Cycles.

The Forestry Commision have agreed to this, however on the understanding that the new XC loop at Hopton was finished first. The Hopton trail is opening officially on March 10th 🙂

Therefore Dave will be concentrating on Bringewood after that. It is OK for us to go and maintain the exsisting singletrack, but I suggest that we wait for Dave to start officially, and then all help then.

In the meantime, Dave said that if anyone wants to help with whats left at Hopton, then let him know.

So hopefully in the summertime, we should have more XC trails to ride near Ludlow.

    Cheers all

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

First off, It would be done with the F.C’s consent. Im not suggesting that we go and start hacking trails into the hill side, only to have the FC bulldoze them 2 weeks later, that would be a waste of everyones time.

Im basically just testing the water, to see if theres enough interest in getting something organised. I think that the first port of call has to be Dave Pearce, see what he says then take it from there.

Im not suggesting miles of new trail, just a few sections of a couple of hundred metres or so to link whats already established. If its well thought out I reckon you could get a 5 mile XC circuit pretty much purely on singletrack.

Ill speak to dave/Pearce cycles this week, and take it from there. Ill post back on here.

Ive not heard about a new XC route at Bringewood (not since the old one from the mid 90’s now overgrown). They have 99 percent completed the XC route at Hopton, due to open in March.

If all fails, maybe we can get a group ride out of this, and meet some new faces 🙂

Whatever you do, get one with more than 3 gear loops! If you want to progress to leading trad, you will need 4 minimum.

Try Ukclimbing.com, If you are not aware of it, its the climbing equivalent of STW. You get the same old childish witter, with a sprinkling of useful info.

Ive got them on my Blue Pig, Although Im no DH racer, I do ride rocky rooty terrain quite 3 times a week. Ive not had any problems with them, and they are still true.

Alot of good AM bikes came specced with them on a year or 2 ago, Lapierres, even one of the Mojos had them. I believe that even though they are not a major deal over here, in Canada they do quite good business.

For a ‘budget’ rim, they are fantastic.
