In my opinion life is richer for having children. Imagine the pleasure you get from riding the best alpine flowing trail, on the perfect day, then multiplying that by a number so high, it hasnt yet been quantified! That is the feeling you get everytime you come in the door of your house, and your toddler comes running into your arms shouting daddyyyyyy.

After having this, I can’t understand why anyone would not want it! It’s damn hard work, but worth it 🙂

I watched it last night in a creaky old haunted hotel, whilst away with work. I turned the lights off and i must admit, I did look over my shoulder on more than 1 occasion. Defo not for those with a nervous disposition 😉

I’d love to see the play, no way my missus would go though!

Im so sorry, words cant say how much. Im a father to a 4 year old, we were told when he was 2 months old he wouldnt make it through the night, the anguish and pain were unimginable. I remember thinking I had to stay strong for my wife. You are allowed to grieve , try to be strong for your family. He will always be your son.

    My thoughts are with you.

I love full page images, if they are interesting, but not just a full page face!

Not many adverts, obviously a good thing, interesting articles, but sooooo many full page pictures of none interesting images. They seem to manage to get at least 8 full page muddy face shots in every issue, I think I’d rather see adverts.

I get it if I’m going abroad, and need to kill time at an airport or something, would never subscribe.

Did a degree in geology at uni, as all I needed for my chosen proffession (officer in the royal marines) was a degree. Failed the entrance medical for my eyesight! Couldnt stand living back at home at all after uni so joined the RAF as an avionics engineer asap. Loved it, only ever worked 3 days a week due to running for the raf.
Left the raf dispondant after 7 years and worked for marconi comms in coventry, they went down the pan, so I got a job with EADS as a systems field engineer, I work with our and others navys, fixing satcomms systems when they break.

I hate my job, and am looking to totally retrain in something I love, sport or conservation related. On the plus side I have been to some amazing places with my job , and im free to live where i want. So went from Aviemore, to Hope, and currently in Ludlow.

I liked the idea of cx, so I bought a crosslight. However whenever i rode it I felt short changed and wished that I was out on my mtb. I know people ride them up and down mountains, but unless you race I feel they are a lesser experience to mtb’s. I sold mine and bought a blue pig 🙂

I had an endura windproof I bought in 1992! I used it regularly every year, untill I crashed last winter and ripped it to bits, gutted! A quality piece of kit.

Sprung 2 for me, it inspired a generation of potential shredders 🙂
I also like Home and Find for their lack of americanism, and good normalism! Have I just invented a word?

I was riding between whaley bridge and buxton a few years ago and he stopped /slowed down and chatted to me. Nice bloke, not all pro roadies out training would do that!

You dont have to ride! Take a few months off riding, Set another goal like swimming a mile in under 30 minutes or whatever it is that sparks your own imagination. Then in a few months time when the trails are drier and its lighter at night, you will probably feel the love return, only it will be stronger than ever 🙂

I think that mattjq’s response 2 posts above sums it up in one sentance. I have been through it too!

Im wondering about this too. I cant see what advantages the Nexus 7 has over the Kindle Fire HD (to make it worth 40 quid more anyway).

Wow, thanks all for the input.

Another concern, is that im too old to make the move, I’m 38 and by the time id have completed an online course, Id be 45 ish! Bearing in mind I have a young family and a mortgage etc etc, I feel I may be wasting my time with a bit of a dream!
I notice Oxford college do an online HND in Env Science. I may do this, as its at least some form of qual to go with plenty of field experience, and I know that from my current profession, degrees are not everything.

    Thanks all,

Well, Im a very keen lover of nature, mainly birdwatching or dare I say ornithology. I would love a complete change of career. At the moment Im a systems integration engineer in the military sat comms field. But my passion lies with the nature/wildlife/ conservation etc etc….

My problem is, is that I live in Ludlow, but I work away from home mon to fri every week, and its no set location! Basically whenever any military sat comms system that im responsible for breaks down , I go to it!

Im aware that wages are low in the environmental job sector, but even just for interest I would like to study the area I love, and maybe an opportunity may arise in the distant future!

Any advice is welcome 🙂 cheers

I was thinking Mandarin, or Arabic. Russian is not a language I thought of, I think mainly due to the fact that Russia or the FSU, does not really captivate me.
