    Scotroutes,

That is not a crap shot! If anything it’s even more special as you got it yourself whilst riding the bike….

    Good skills Sir!

Tyre blow out on day 2 Alex, on a dual ply casing as well! It happened to two of the females in the exact same spot, however the Ecuadorian rider managed to get it plugged. After speaking to the Schwalbe boys they said nothing would have been able to fix it. She was going really well also.

    Suppose that is racing hey.

    Cheers mate,

Was this the Rune you saw:

That would be my wife Fay’s bike. It’s a weapon. Malaga DH, big days in Wales, even an appearance at Peatys Steel City DH yesterday where she took 8th out of 52 females. Bike excels in so many areas. Keep an eye out for Fay at the World Enduro Peebles on this in a couple of weeks. Oh, bike weight is bang on 29lbs with this build.

Having exactly the same problem with my King Headset that is on a new Banshee Rune frame, both bought in November together.

It’s driving me crazy. If you find a fix then I’m all ears….

Great tyre for grip and relatively fast rolling but that’s where the praise ends. Ripped the sidewall open on stage 12 of the 2013 Trans Provence and had to ride the rest of the stage on the rim….. ;( Luckily had Mavic support at the finish so managed to get the wheel re-trued.

This particular stage was relatively chilled compared to many of them and I still managed to come unstuck. I would hate to think what would happen if you rode this tyre down something really rocky like the Garburn Pass or the Castle Craggs descent on the Borrowdale Bash. Oh, in fact I already know as I sat helping my brother for an hour trying to sort what was left of both his 2.2 RQ Black Chilli’s last weekend next to Derwent Water ;)

Steer clear mate and buy a crossmax charge…..

    All the best,
    Lee.

    Thanks B R.

A much heavier Bronson build coming in at 26.5, which shows that this Gucci version up the page has to be even lighter.

And honourablegeorge the frames were redesigned for 2014 and weight was dropped off in several places, according to the designer. Loss was around 1lb so your frame quote of 8.5 lbs only applies to the 2013 frame.

    @honourablegeorge

As iv already said earlier in this thread if anything that Santa Cruz should be coming in lighter, closer to 26lbs than where it is up near 28.

I am not saying that there can’t be more than 1lbs between the two bikes. What I am saying is that I have weighed mine twice, in my mates shop and at home and it’s coming in at 29lbs. My friend is the mechanic at Bike Park Wales and has just build up a rune with an identical spec to mine but in black instead of green and it’s coming in at something like 29.04 or the like. He is on this forum so will get him to put pics up.

I think the edges are getting blurred here. The initial discussion for me in this thread is not the fact that there is just over a pound between the two bikes, that’s open to discussion. It’s the fact that someone called me out and said my measurements are off, which they are not. The bike is under 30lbs. :)

Taken directly from the Enve website:

    WEIGHT: KING ISO*
    1602g
    WEIGHT: DT 180*
    1420g
    WEIGHT: DT 240 15mm/142*
    1515g

    Weights taken from Mavic website:
Weight : 1660 grams (pair of wheel)

So if your man is running his Enve’s with King then as I said there’s less that 100g in it, well 58 actually. Not bad considering you could get three pairs of mavics for the price of 1 pair of Enves. They do look mega though! ;)

    @mikewsmith
I know they are Mavic on Mavic dude as it’s my bike! My point is depending on what hubs that Santa Cruz has will have an effect on the overall difference between the two wheel sets. As durable as king are they are a lot heavier than a DT Swiss build, for example

    generallevi

    @Rik

How do you know that’s it’s 200g when you don’t even know what hubs he’s running?

At the end of the day, I know how much my bike weighs. I don’t know why you should be so shocked that an aluminium framed bike can dip just under 30lbs with an xx1 build and decent wheels.

    generallevi

    @Rik

Weighed with a calibrated Park Tools scale. Your probably thinking that those Enves weigh a lot less than my Crossmax wheels but there is only 100g in it. Also, why couldn’t I get a rune under 30lbs when the designer Keith Scott speaks openly that he has seen them down a 27lbs with a lightweight build?

I am not a liar mate. You will find most runes around the 31lbs mark but this one has carbon bars, xx1, light wheelset and xo trails.

If anything the Santa Cruz should be closer to 26lbs.

Some evidence for you where a bike has been ridden properly and not picked up the odd scratch. This is my 2014 Banshee Rune that has been ridden 3-5 times a week since November in mainly horrendous weather and a 10 day trip to Malaga over New Year, using DH shuttling with rocks and shingle flying up everywhere.

Invisiframe is as much of a game changer as a the reverb or if we go back 13 years what V Brakes weere when they replaced canti’s.

Lee from Invisi learned his trade over 15 years wrapping high end sports cars and now has turned his hand to looking after bikes. No mud behind the edges, highly resistant to tearing, comes in gloss or matte and can be polished up. Also, when washing the bike mud just slips off instead of getting into the paint.

Surely this will bring me more revenue at resale and keep the bike safe so cables are not grinding into tubes?

Give my mate Lee a shout on your next bike purchase and if it doesn’t work for you then you give me a shout and I’ll personally give you the money back that you payed for it. You cant say fairer than that hey?

Thanks mate. I used to ride and Alpine, old shape, great bike. There is not much in them in the way if performance in my opinion but they both go about it in a completely different way.

@downhilldave cheers fella. We stayed with Michael at Switchbacks and it is a truly amazing set up. 10-15 van assisted runs a day, staying in a Scarface type mansion and because of Spain’s unfortunate economical meltdown everything is dirt cheap, including many bars being 1 euro a pint. ;) Literally struggled to spend our money which is a far cry from Morzine ;)

My Banshee Rune v2 2014. Most capable bike Iv ever owned. 29 lbs and have had to change the rear tyre after a week in Malaga but apart from that it’s exactly as in the photos. Hope you like them,

Cheers for all your help so far you lot. Very interesting. One thing that interests me cookeaa is how a Facebook search of me, would aid an individual to find my address?

Also, I have no email linked to Facebook.

Admittedly I am sure if you put the name or bike, or forum name of many on here into a google search then you would be able to gain elements of information of them on various social media sites. It’s just the nature of the beast. However, I don’t believe you should stop living life, sharing photographs of trips, races, adventures just because of the potential that scumbags can see what you ride.

I also think that the guy you have found on Facebook is not me. There is another guy, who goes by the screen name generallevi, who rides a banshee rune, who actually works in the banshee factory and is also called Lee.

So don’t be too sure unless your sure.

    Mate,

I used to live in Mons when I was based at the local NATO base with the RAF. Have not long returned to the UK. If you are not a fan of Brussels then Ghent would be an amazing day out. It’s so beautiful and was the nicest city I visited whilst there.

Leuven ‘home of Stella’ is about 20 mins south of Brussels and once again is a really nice place for a visit. Mons is OK and steeped in history but Is not as easy on the eye as the previous two. If you can drive or grab a train Ypres is such an amazing town. I did the Armistice parade there every year and the Menin gate and War museum are spectacular. Last post happens at 8pm every night and attracts thousands.

If you go to Ghent a trip to the Amadeus rib house will blow your mind! http://www.amadeusspareribrestaurant.be

    Hope this helps a little,

Lee at Invisi has specifically chosen the current thickness of his 3M to meet 3 things. Be of a strong enough adhesive to stay on the frame and not allow mud/water ingress. Be not too thick so that if the owner or future owner would like to remove it that it will come off without peeling away the paint and finally being of a reasonable weight as it tends to be applied to mid-high end mountain and road bikes.

In regards to its strength. My brother had the mother of all stacks this year on his Orange Alpine and took a rock to the top tube. At first glance it looked like he may have wrote off the invisi protecting that area and maybe even gone through to his paint. However, after a wash and a bit of muc off bike polish it was exactly as it was before the accident. He was made up!

My own personal experience is completing the Trans Provence with the invisi protecting my bike a treat when many others finished looking twice their age. I have also just got back from a week of DH Shuttling in Malaga and once again it took the hits, especially around the underside of the chainstays.

For £53 for the full kit you can’t go wrong.

    All the best,
    Lee.

Not sure where to get a roll of it but my friend owns the best frame wrapping company in existence.
    http://www.invisiframe.co.uk

He previously used the 3M tape to use on high end sports cars and now has transferred these skills into wrapping frames, forks and cranks. The finish is tailored to each individual frame and after 1 year of use my frame looks like it did when it came out the box.

    Hope this helps a little,

    Lee.

+1 for Titus Rockstar. I have one and for £799 you can’t go wrong. Hand made in Portland USA, nice paint job. Absolutely rapid going uphill, not bad coming down considering its a 100mm bike.

Very long though in be TT. A medium is a fair old size.

Just landed. That initial message was meant to say Evoc bag not bike and as someone has posted here it’s 9kg on its own. However, we have only just bought them after years of taking biscuits to shops to get cardboard boxes ;)

The bag had an empty camelback, shoes and helmet but no clothes etc…..

At this years Trans Provence our bike boxes weighed 28kgs so don’t think this is down to the type of carriage used.
I think based on these new regulations, EasyJet will become best suited to road bike users.

    Honourablegeorge,

I had the 750’s on my last bike but they went in the sale. Should have made it a little clearer. I am worried about them being so stiff that it’s actually going to be painful due to the extra diameter of the bars. Just seems to be something that comes up in reviews, albeit could be based on opinion which can differ.

    Zippy,

There is no point defending your actions on here chief and getting yourself any more wound up. Lets be honest you could get yourself mugged while walking an old dear across the road and there would be some weapon on here who would try and tell you it was ‘your fault’.

If its any consolation mate I get you and think that zero common sense has been applied, especially considering this is about an electronic book not a bank account , however don’t expect to get much sympathy off anyone else…..

Its got that bad I saw a guy post on here about a month ago post that a bike shop had charged him to fit expensive spokes to a wheel build and just fitted the old ones he supplied originally and just changed the nipples to deceive him. Once again half the forum called him a liar or said it was his fault.

Gotta love some of the clientele on Singletrack….

Sorry mate but you got no chance…..!

I’ve been waiting since January for mine and it only turned up last weekend.
Massive massive delays and my mate has just put his deposit down and was told 2014 range which are arriving September

Banshee have offered people who owned the old rune new frames so they are making frames to sell and frames to replace others, meaning silly waiting times.

    Hey,
Quick one but has anyone got any spare Passportes entries they want to get rid for any resort for the Sunday?

We have been going every year since 2006 with our club, however this year we have two people who didn’t get tickets.
I know there was a little bit of madness at this years booking morning that loads of people ended up with too many tickets due to the system crashing and people going nuts and buying too many as the time ticked down.
If you are one of those people,
    Give us a shout!

    Fellas,

The preload on this fork is coil, its a grey/silver knob and has around 30 clicks of adjustment. There is also an air assist feature sat inside the middle of the rebound dial which can be used to add a little bit more for riders whose weight puts them at the limits of a given spring, however utilising this had been said to cause issues with small bump sensitivty.

The compression for this fork is on the bottom right leg and is not related in anyway to what I am saying.

I appreciate the help but its getting dragged off topic by non factual advice. Take it from me there is a preload adjuster, its grey, its on the left side of the fork, its coil based and its independent from the air assist and compression dials. If you still don’t believe me do a google search before telling me in wrong.

    All the best,
    Lee.

    Ribena,

I’m not going to come on here and ask about something, in a reasonable manner if there wasn’t a preload adjuster.
There is, so please only comment if you know what your talking about.

Had exactly the same on some xtr trails. You need to let out a tiny amount of mineral oil from the bleed port or otherwise just pushing back the pistons will result in them slowly creeping back to place which you will probably find will be slighlty extruding.

All the best with the tweaking,

Trying to ride around storm troopers Tazzy! ;) however I was actually referring to how long it would take him at that effort level.

Shame we can’t agree on this one as I backed you up on a recent Cotic Vid slaughtering, but it seems you have now turned into one of those miserable lot that you negatively referred to only days ago.

My lap time for Llandegla is 43 mins. Just pulled it off the Garmin. I love it on here where some people feel the need to make something personal because they don’t agree with the thread, even though many do and many don’t. It’s not as if I came on and said all armoured guys should be off the trails. There’s a lot of fors and againsts.

Some of these emotional responses have got me chuckling.
