Aye, hate. This dry weather its terrible for showing up the creaks, soon be gone tho 😆

Still very much enjoying mine, recently fitted slightly shorter 55mm stem and Exotic 750mm flatbar so will report back on that shortly.

Gonna try my revs at maybe 130mm (currently at 120mm). Still wondering if 120mm sids would be too flexy over my current revs or if I could get away with them and a potential half lb saving. Anyone else using them?

As good as the Pacenti’s are I’m also wondering about carbon wheel build too!

Yup that hopefully sums it up. Just after a commuter set of disc wheels for occassional use on me 29er for the commute (17miles each way so may well be once a year if this weather keeps up).

surprised at how heavy a lot of cx and road rims are and so the 465s should b a good compromise as well as being more saleable with the growing 29er market.

Just hope the weight is right and that road tyres go on ok.

Aye, came to conclusion there’s a 26er version too. Your right tho it is just a budget rim really. I’ll only use with discs so will go fir the cleaner look. Hopefully it’ll weigh as advertised. Only wonder if there’s owt else out there that’s lighter and as cheap… Its only for my commute after all!

Haha just contemplating the same, struggling to find confirmed weights though. I’m about 82kg and will prob only go 28 on the front, plus I’d probably just stick on me 29er trail wheels for anything fun!!.

Was looking at cheap Mavic a119s but thought if the DT’s are as per the advertised wieght it might be worth a punt to save nearly 100g a rim.

Do they do the DT rims in a 26er size do you know?. Winstanleys seem to advertise the 29er version for about £22 and a non-sized (presumably 26er) version at £19.99. Just not sure if the cheaper ones would be 26 or 29″.
Fatbirds is cheaper again at £18.99 but then they charge postage under £50 so not really cheaper.

Just fitted they’re flat wide carbon bar and it looks ok. Tube walls look thin but the weight 170g is on par with other lightweight bars so should be a good un… If I can get used to this old school flatbar lark again!.
I started a thread on exotic bars and got some good love there too!!!

I’ve just built up a set of Pacenti TL28s (450g) on Hope Pro 2 Evo 20mm Front and DT 240 Rear Hub with 32 x ACI Alpina Spokes (which weigh about the same as supercomps) and ally nipples. They come in at about 1730g which isn’t too bad for a trail 29er wheelset with a 23mm inner diameter (as per Flows).

However I also recently build up a set of the Light Bicycle 26er Wide Carbon Rims on Dt 240s Hubs (28 x Revs spokes and Brass Nipples) and they came in about 1400g. They made a great wheelset so far, very snappy acceleration and still stiff enough with a the same 23mm inner width for good footprint even from my Mountain Kings.

I would love to build a set up for my 29er (Fireline Evo) but trying to resist as its only my second bike!!. They should come in around the 1500g mark I imagine. Despite my efforts to resist I do also wonder how a 28 spoke build would work out on a 29er wheel. Imagine it’d be ok as many factory wheels use the same and sometimes less spokes with the stiffer carbon rims!

Incidentally the WTB i23 KOM rims have come out recently and they’re about 425g and 23mm inner width again!. (Circa £53 if ya shop around)

Aci alpina are as butted as supercomps 1.7mm and weigh the same!. Try sdeals or cyclebasket for em. 21-28p each plus post. If your hubs are the right size you might get away with buying from a guy in eBay in Preston/Kirkham. He does full boxes fir £15 but only in two sizes!.

    Good luck.

I’ve ridden some rock stuff and plenty of singletrack so far and seem ok. Suffered a few marks frm the rocks but just seem to rub off.

Forgot to mention that the erd of the LB rims has been known to vary a wee bit so prob best measure before buying spokes!.

Wow 30mm is a massive Id. I imagine I would be happy around 25 too, maybe with dare I say it a slightly lighter and cheaper rim. Not sure my tyres will even fit in frame at 30mm.

Incidentally the am wide Lb rims plump out conti mk2 2.2 tyres to a nice plump size as a bonus.

Is that your thread over on mtbr btw Andy?

That’s what I did for my Asr5c. LB wide rims (363g & 376g ish) on dt240 cl hubs with dt revs and brass nipples. Stayed with brass nips to carry the extra tension better but may try ally next time. The extra stiffness of the rims allowed me to use 28 spokes… And seem fine so far. They came in at 1400g. They’re very snappy yet stiff and spin up real nice.

LB are working on specialized style beadless rims at the mo and proposing a 35mm 380g rim which is pretty exciting at Circa $170 (guessing around a 26-27mm inner width!)

Don’t overlook the exotic carbon flatbar too… 750mm and 160g.. oh and £60. Hoping to get mine this week but quite a few happy users on the “Ahem exotic bars” thread!.

What was support like for those that ordered?. Bought last week but didn’t get any confirmation other than PayPal invoice. I’ve emailed (via PayPal) but no response. Maybe I’ve been spoilt by other sellers but tis a bit quiet!

We stayed in Golden (with some really great friends we met while touring mt blanc) while in Colorado and went and rode the front range, white ranch and around the redrocks stadium built into the mountain. We also went along a very lush section of the Colorado trail and also visited fruita en route to Utah. We camped in dessert by fruita so couldn’t vouch for how familly friendly it is.

During downtime we spent a day in Denver (baseball, food n beer) too but I really liked the atmosphere in Boulder. We went there on a few evenings and felt very family friendly. Also managed a trip to A-basin skiing if your that way inclined (or the familly is)… In may too!.

Utah and Arches was something else again, we camped by the Colorado river and then up on The slickrock itself… Awesome!

Cool I think these could be a goer. The raceface next wides I also like are narrower, heavier and cost twice as much! As do most other options.

    Cheers chaps just what I was looking for. Aye the forks seem to be held in high regard. How long have you had your risers chillid?, did they weigh as advertised?.. Sorry bit of a weight weenie but also worth doing just to check all the material is in place as designed;

Had em for years n love em… The nice shiny new ones are best yet and have gone back to more robust bolts. The ti on the raving versions nice too;)

Was wondering the same myself (as a commuting experiment for my ti456), suspect that the weight of the 32 might slow things down a bit so was considering 25s or 28s.

A mate has tried 25s on a set of his wheels and said they’re tight but it is possible!

Another vote for a turbine here. Great machining and just about 110g if low weights a concern.

No worries I’ll do some digging, curious engineer in me trying to figure out where that extra click comes from.

Just need to find an xx1 type 80 bcd ring now. Any rumours anywhere?

Anyone aware of an impending 80bcd version at all (raceface next/turbine & sram fitting) in maybe 28 or 30 tooth?.

What’s with the 9.5 mod northwind, intrigued?… Wee spacer??

The Dt rws is a nice solution albeit a fancy wingnut with repositionable handle. Was about £23 at crc so not too bad considering. Make sure you get the newer cheaper one tho, its tapered at the handle end. The older original composite rws had a flat seat at the handle end which won’t work. I fell foul of this courtesy of crc’s habit of putting up the wrong piccies!

Nice upgrade by the way. Makes for a really solid fit of back wheel in frame. Bit pricey tho.

Myhermes here too. Local out of hrs drop off is good, hope wheel box is accepted on their network, insurance to £250 is £2.50 (£1.20 upto £100) iirc on top of £3.90 for a 2kg parcel.

aye think I’ve seen oz’s mentioned over on weightweenies. Look sharp and not unlike the Ritcheys. I hear the ritcheys are a bit softer and can twist off n soak in water a bit. Any truth in that?

Aye tis funny how hairspray eventually gives out. Never when I’m due to do some bar shuffling tho. Then they’re a pig. Might keep the spray glue as last resort… sounds quite comitted when it comes to removal.

Ta for the link danw, they look spot on, not fussed about logos, just a snug fit req’d here.

Bit torn now…. As long as yours aren’t chewed at ends can I take yours jameso?
