He's supposed to make money too … I think an extended lunchbreak in honour of Bon Scott.

    It is Friday afternoon 🙂

In theory I am working, I guess in practice I am looking at STW

Just finished the Highway to Hell album, I had forgotten how much I liked Night Prowler.

The guitarist in our office is just playing it through, on my Strat … I really must learn to play it one day …. no Gibson SG in the office

My comment on weaponary was mainly tongue in cheek, as you say capitalism at work. I did like the white flags comment though 🙂

ps didnt the French fight with the Argentines, or did the just sell weaponry under the counter?

There's an excellent book by Max Hastings on the Falklands War that covers the politic stage as well as the actual conflict (wartime) command decisions.

I believe that Argentina had two capital ships, the RN was looking for both. When the Belgrano was attacked it was in an area that meant it was not a threat, however within a matter of hours it could be. One of the effects of ssinking it was to ensure that the aircraft carrier stayed well within Argentine Waters which meant that for practical purposes it was out of range of the Task Force & especially the Troop Ships.

Oh & I agree with sufer about inset days, lots of jobs with online training have to do it out of hours. Lots of business people have to get to meetings in odd places for first thing in the morning, its not training but it is still working out of hours.

as said above, parents have to sort out a day off work or childminding.. they tend to happen around holidays.

Younger son had two more days off after Christmas hols, while the older one was at school, the older one has the Friday and Monday either side of half term off… very luck we have Grandparents close, god knows what we would do otherwise, schools get more holiday than my misses & I.

Oh well, we made the most of Friday, Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard, then the Tank Museum at Bovingdon on the Saturday, a proper male bonding weekend 🙂

The Steam Powered Steam Car wasnt there yet 🙁

He has started designing the car to beat it (mind you I think his design needs a bit of work)

The Cpt's suggestion of visiting some of the museums etc is well worth consideration if you/the kids are that way inclined.

We followed the coast from Caen a couple of years back & stopped for lunch in the coastal village where the longest day was filmed, also saw mulberry's & visited the american grave yard at Coleville su Mer, very moving.

As has been said before Mont St Michel is also well worth a visit

We have done Portsmouth Caen, often, & the St Malo one a couple of times.

Certainly sleeping on the ferry improves the experience and makes the journey appear shorter.. if you go by day its worth getting in to the on board cinema, thats a good way of killing a few hours as well.

I did wonder & started an account; even followed a couple of people, thought Brad Wiggins & Lance Armstrong may be interesting … however there appears to be nothing more interesting than them saying they called a mate or went for a curry… cant say that does anything for me at all..maybe I am missing something but havent bothered to sign in for months.

I kind of went off BTTC but loved Rally Cross when it was on. Very happy to have more Le Mans Car coverage too 🙂

It could well be, thats specifically designed to cause the water to drip off.
When I made a window sill once I didnt add one & had lots of penetrating damp …doh!

As above remove the stuff bridging it & see what happens. You can paint a silicon solution on the brick work which should help stop rain blowing through the wall.

I imagine that as I have watched almost all Grand Prix's since I can remember, so thats probably 30 years of it & only actually turned the tv off once during a race (Senna's death) that I will be watching again this year.

I get frustrated about the court stuff & some of the obvious manipulation of rules to try to even everything up; other than that I find the general politics, the technology, the waxing & waining of talent fasinating..

2010 has the opportunity of being one of the great years bring it on I say.

I took the kids up & watched some bits of the race (mainly up at the top rather than too far down towards the field). Looked excellent. We have a Tuesday night ride planned to pootle around as much as we can, certainly nice to have new trails up there to play on.

Had to check when the first race was yesterday. My 8 year old has stopped all other topics of conversation already; F1 & the 2010 season, thats it.

PS you will be glad to know that Michael Schumacher will be 41 tomorrow.. I know I was delighted to hear it at about 07.00 yesterday.

I made the chicken curry, that was great. I failed with the Pakoras though, too much moisture in them & then tried to do in a frying pan rather than a deep fat fryer… but I am learning 🙂

A bike ride around the cape south of cape town looks stunning, when we were there we drove it but roads were smooth and scenery amazing.

We have rellies in Simonstown & the suggested Delheim Estate at Stellenbosch, amazing setting, wine & the ostrich curry was brilliant, so can recommend that too

It does take a while for your brain to get used to new glasses but your eyes should be balanced so things should look broadly similar through either eye.. Makes me feel travel sick if the lenses arent set up properly

I started doing the S & then D thing but (generally) appear to have my right foot trained now so I dont suffer much,… it may also be slightly more fuel biased & I have changed the garage I fill up at.

Fuel consumption is difficult to be more accurate about as I say tending to short journeys & currently showing an average of 44mpg, it is due a service though so may get better soon 🙂

    Gee-Jay

No, starts first time every time (famous last words).

MPG I think is about 44 mpg average but most of my journeys are only 8-10 miles so that doesnt cover a decent run. Over 40 mile journeys it goes up to about 50mpg.

I have the DSG box & my biggest complaint is that sometimes it appears to get a bit confused between changing from first to second just as the boost is about to appear… which can leave you attempting to pull away very slowly… I appear to have learnt to drive around it as have not noticed it as much as when I first got it
