Ah, I hadn’t seen any pictures.

    Fair point

Like Convert I listened rather than watched and actually really enjoyed it, I thought having the commentators explaining more made it much more interesting and tense, quite what it would have been like watching the procession I’m not sure that would have been as good.

Lewis being a drama queen (if that’s an allowed expression) about tyres was a bit of a bore but he’s done it before and no doubt will again.

Am signed off long term sick at the mo so just started work on PT109 and got a vosper mtb next.

I probably need to learn how to weather stuff plus an airbrush would be better than rattle cans

    ibis budget Troyes Est

A bit cheap but then it was fairly cheap, about 2kms off the autoroute, for me it was almost exactly half way, a choice of chain type restaurants within a 200m and a large supermarket for buying cheap fuel to get you the rest of the way.

I have a mk1 and think it’s brilliant, normally means I leave the full sir kit behind, or perhaps just take a long lens and the rx100.

I know each version has pluses and minuses I have never been convinced changing mine makes sense, esp as the mk1 should be cheapest

I really hate it when I am out on my bike with headphones on playing my spotify list & one of the kids tells Alexa to play their music
The house is on my account so I then get Led Zep replaced by Taylor Swift despite the fact I am miles away from home :-(

FYI – going on holiday triggers gout for me, almost irrespective of diet, I believe this is quite common so worth making sure you are well hydrated when travelling but also staying off the obvious stuff like red meat & booze on holiday

Smarts doesn’t it – dicolfenic worked best for me but they seem to prefer giving naproxin

Have a look for gout diets on line there are some surprising things that can be triggers then I think its a case of stay as hydrated as possible

I always used to try & work through it if I had a flare up starting but it seems stopping moving and putting your foot up is best. The first thing is to get the inflammation down.

I like this thread, how many times have I had a call saying “the internet doesn’t work”?

Me – well can you see the BBC website?

Dad – yes but I m not getting my emails through

Me – ok, that’s fine as long as you haven’t changed anything it’s just a glitch

Dad – ah, well I went into the operating system and changed things

    Me – operating system?

Dad – yes, you know where I log in, so I tried the password that I used 3 months ago and now its not working

Mine does something similar with the lights, take it out, tip it to more than 45 degrees and try it again

I assume there is a reset or something. Costs nowt, so worth a try, it certainly works for me

Its been a while since I ate there but The Oatsheaf at the top of the High St, or The Heron on the lake overlooking the pond.

@simondbarnes, the ferry trip can be exciting in its own right with all the exotic cars on it.

A few years back we stayed in a tree house at Les Ormes in Brittany which was quite cool
    https://www.lesormes.com/en/holidays-and-stays/accommodation/tree-houses

There are downsides though – 100m to the toilet and I was a bit twitched if there was a fire as I could not see a way of getting out.

Other than that a really good experience

I’ve worn one for 10+ years – I used to suffer with headaches before but nothing now. After the first couple of nights you get used to them so no issues with not sleeping because of it – God knows on the sleep apnea bit if I wear my fitbit to bed it seems to think I sleep well enough so don’t think I suffer with apnea.

Try it, see how you get on with it – only pluses for me (although I was already married by the time I got it so didnt have one night stands with a mouth guard which may be a bit off putting :-))

    I’m in – 6 hr vets pair

I rode the course last night & its running very well, there are a few new bits, only a couple with little bits of mud (many of the new trails are to get round the muddy bits), I suspect it could be quite dusty by the end of the race.

Good luck all, our aim is not to come last, we’ve never managed it before & see no need to do so on the 10th anniversary

I bought one a couple of months ago and my wife rolled her eyes at another gadget, but now chats away quite happily to it asking for 80’s radio, Bob Marley, rock ballads etc whenever the setting it is on annoys her.

The only issue is if I am in a different room I am not sure if she is talking to it or I need to answer

First time I’ve done a sportif and first century that wasn’t on a touring bike with pie stops – 5:18 and chuffed to bits with that seeing as that gives me an average speed I’ve not seen for 20 yrs (or 10 kg’s) so definitely a fast course.
Agreed on the hills, certainly felt very rideable, I think it took as long to go down Leith Hill as up due to a jam at the bottom of it.

Well done to all who completed it :-)

I can’t believe how sensitive the microphone is, I can talk to it from a different room and about 30 feet away, quite amazing.

    Try this place, http://www.loirebandb.com/Pages/ENGLISH.aspx

We stayed there a couple of years ago for the motorbike GP and they have land / stabling etc so may well be able to sort something

They don’t grow much, its just when weight is on them they seem to spread a bit, a few mm is all but if you have initially trimmed them to the edge they do start to ruck up a little – nothing that re-trimming will not deal with or gluing down in the first place which I didn’t do

    Gee-Jay

its good stuff but does seem to grow, nothing that a couple of minutes with a Stanley knife cannot deal with. Easier to work with than I was expecting
