Dan was 7 mins ahead of 2nd place in the fat bike category.

At over 3 quid a meter for 22mm copper, that seems like a awful waste of time and material when removing a small section of the floor is such a simple and easy thing to do.

Coolhandluke. I recommend that unless you are in the market for a new boiler, you try to find a trustworthy engineer to have a look at it.
Parts are available for this boiler and although I would not presume to claim I know what’s wrong with it, even if it is the gas valve. Replacing it should be significantly less expensive than a new boiler.
Hypothetically: new valve £180. Labour to fit and test (1.5hrs) = £50 call out for first hr +1/2 hr balance. £15 total = £245. Compared to best case scenario. Boiler swap @£1500.
Really, you need someone who is smart enough to test the possible faults to confirm or eliminate.
    Good luck

divenwob. As you said, It could still be the PCB. But as I said, hard to try and diagnose without being in front of it.

My guess is if your Potterton suprema is 14 years old, it’s already had a new PCB because the original will undoubtably have failed long ago. However, Potterton quickly came up with a much more reliable replacement. It’s ridiculous to make a diagnosis here or over the phone.

but it could also be APS,APS tubes. Wish I could help further.

No it couldn’t. If either of these were the problem it would not be trying to light.

Op. You say the house is fairly new. What is your base for comparison? Anyhow, in many cases even in relatively old properties, 22mm (3/4) leaves the meter and is reduced to 15mm (1/2) just before the boiler connection. With some minor exploration it could be determined if this is the case. The fitter would then only have to upsize from the point it was originally reduced. Bearing in mind he has done his calculations and it will provide enough gas for the new boiler.
The reason a combi draws more gas than a regular boiler is due to the instant hot water demand.
I can’t imagine TBH that the meter has a 15mm pipe leaving it. Aren’t there any other gas appliances in the house?

I will probably buy a 650b wheeled one if they really have replaced 26″ by then, and I can see me putting 26″ wheels on a 650b frame to liven things up a shade maybe

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever based on your assessment that the difference is inconsequential.
Or maybe you’re joking. I can’t tell because if you are, it’s not funny.

Ok I’ll jump in because I’m sick of all the bollocks being spouted about the difference or NO difference between 26 and 27.5. There is a significant difference and it matters in so many ways.
Take your seat post and drop it by 1.5 inches. Change the stem length on your fave ride by 20mm and see how that feels.
There are people on here psh pshin about 650b and the lack of difference it has between 26 but they bleat on instead about a difference in head angle of 3 degrees or 120mm over 140mm travel and 2.2 v 2.3 tyres.
As we all know, a tiny bit of anything makes a big difference on the trail. Try it and make up your own mind because the industry invests millions to develop products that perform better. Surely no one with half a brain would believe they are investing their money to develop a range of bikes which are of no incremental benefit from the ones they’ve been selling for the last 30 years.
Yes, it’s true. A lot of riders don’t prefer 29 over 26 and the difference between the two is easily noticeable, by even a lunk rider.
Seriously though, do you think that a horde of pro riders have been brainwashed into believing their 650b rides are better than 26 or 29 and in fact they aren’t at all and they are all just gullible and stupid?

I spent 19 years in the US. Came back when my dad became terminally ill. I realized at that point what I had missed. A lot of time I could have spent with him. So my wife and I decided to move here (UK) been back since 2005. Wow 9 years!
I’ve used the time here to be with my family and in particular, my mom.
We will definitely be moving back in the not to distant future though. Everything here is just so damn difficult.

It’s wet everywhere and will be wetter still tomorrow. At least the trails at Cannock are mostly hard packed. As for Cannock being rammed. In my experience, most of them are stopped at the top of every climb so you just keep going and ride on by.

Don’t know where you live bit, have you noticed the amount of wind and rain that’s been falling lately?
A flue is a vertical shaft with a hole on top. It’s not water proof. In extreme weather conditions it’s common for flues to suffer some water ingress. Just as roofs also do in wet and driving windy conditions. They also, contrary to common belief, are not water proof.

I’m not sure but I recommend you research what his legal rights are because I have a feeling that he does have some reasonable expectation the car he’s buying is not a lemon and has a certain amount of time after the sale to gain recompense. As I said, I’m not sure about this. I think you should check out his, and your rights.

I fail to see why American English needs to be compared and ridiculed against English. They’re completely different dictionaries. Who cares if it stemmed from here. (England) After 200 years, I think it can stand on its own. It doesn’t have to make sense to you and who cares if you like it or not if you’re not an American.
All languages evolve with time. Even French has had to change in line with modern culture. You can imagine how that goes down with Francophonie.

From your description of the fault and your observations, I would recommend you call an engineer.
Just out of curiosity. How do you know the gas flow is fine and there are no leaks? And if it wasn’t, and there was. What correlation do you think this would have to the overheat fault. I can tel you. Non. If the boiler has reached overheat and tripped the sensor, it may need to be reset or replaced. Not familiar with this particular boiler. However, call a gas safe registered engineer.

sc-xc Not sure what you’re on about.

I didn’t think you would be. It refers to your comment about nature knowing best. In which case why would we consume the meat of another animal?
    It’s a lame argument!

I don’t drink 10 pints of anything a day, but a pint of milk will give me around 20g protein. A shake, will be more like 60g.

yes and 300 grams of refined sugar, stabilizers, anti caking agent, sodium, colouring etc etc.

I don’t fancy drinking 10 pints of milk a day

+1 for milk. Drink ten pints of any protein drink a day and you’ll be a right fat barsteward. Drink 1 pint of milk after exercise and it’ll do more than a fancy protein shake at four times the cost.

I think it is illegal, but very difficult to prove.

You’re right, it is and you’re right, it is.

Just get in touch with the vendor direct.

Good idea, but why would any vendor care if the agent was trying to get more money for their property orhow they went about doing it?

The certificate is all you need. It means the windows are FENSA approved. If you sell the house most solicitors will want that certificate in the documents you provide.

We had Safestyle come and quote last week. We do have a lot of windows, including front bays that need 5 separate panels both upstairs and down, so the first price was £20,000. Then ‘cos of this month’s offer, that came down to £15k. Then the salesman said he had a special extra discount so could do it at £12k. Then he offered to ring his boss, who gave as a price of £9k, for that day only of course. We didn’t buy.
Why can’t they cut the bullsh1t and give us the £9k price straight away? Do they really think we’re that stupid?

I’d say you you wasted the guys time. You got what seems me to be a fair price eventually. Who cares if you have to sit through the show.
Did you have anyone do the windows, or are you just one of those customers who thinks everyone except yourself should work for a zero profit margin.

    **** Safestyle.

The wife saw that next door were getting new windows, and asked the chap for a quote. Because he was a fitter, not sales he couldn’y. Nothing wrong with that.

Then, sales guy came round. All I wanted was for him to measure up, show some examples in a catalogue and quote. In that order.

The wife was going out to meet a friend. This did not sit well with sales chappy. Seems both of us needed to be there, and he was going to try to show the styles off znd quote before even measuring up.

Told him to clear off. Didn’t have time to be pissing about to
    like that.

Perhaps you should have made the appointment when you had a little more time available . You asked for a quote and therefore it’s only reasonable that the sales person expects to be able to complete his spiel.
It’s how he makes his living after all.
Having said that. If someone asked me to come a quote for a bathroom refit and told me I had 5 minutes to do it, I would leave.

Without doubt. Stick to your guns. You are being honest and fair. eBay are not stupid. They can look at all your messages and see you are trying to resolve the issue. As said. Tell him to return the fork for a full refund. That’s all eBay will expect you to do and the ball will be in his court.
