CRC is free returns, so just send it back for a refund.
Order the stuff you want with the discount.
And just hope the stuff is still instock etc.
gboarderFree MemberOne day ~ down the line there will be no more LBS if we as cyclists don’t support them – spend money in them etc.
Yes I to use other on-line retailers mentioned – but also whenever possible support my LBS.
In the future I want to be able to get my wheel’s trued and occasional service etc. Not to mention the bike fit service.
Yes it would be great to always get the online price at our LBS but they have different cost’s and rates and need to pay there staff and mechanics etc.
gboarderFree MemberI also returned to running after at least a 15 year break, generally to improve my overall fitness. From previous experience I started by visiting a running shop for new running shoes and socks. I would advise you and anybody else to do the same, take old shoes with you.
Getting the correct shoes should help you with aches and pains and socks should help prevent blisters. Some may think it’s a bit overkill but I would much rather spend up front and then be able to continue running fairly injury free.
As for the running, personally I started with a loop I can run from the door and ran and walked it until I could run all the way around. I only run every other day at the most as was advised and above etc.
I’m now trying to improve my overall general speed by working on my technique and concentration.
Good luck…….
gboarderFree MemberFrom my own personal experience I have slightly increased my Max HR, I put this down to increased fitness meaning I’m able to push myself harder and obtain I higher HR. The MAX was obtained while pushing my speed while climbing on the road.
Not sure it helps but thats my 2penth..
gboarderFree MemberJust talked to CRC, they are still have a large backlog of orders and hope to have them cleared by the weekend – so if you are like me and still waiting to receive some fresh new bits then normal service should be resumed next week.
G
gboarderFree MemberSorry a bit confused but might need so help from you guys.
My CRC experience has got a little stranger.
24/09 @ 11:40 – Received 27/09 as expected
24/09 @ 12:12 – Despatched 26/09 but not yet delivered ~ Despatched Royal Mail 1st Class..
24/09 @ 15:20 – Despatched 27/09 ~ delivered
24/09 @ 22:41 – Still processing ~ E-mailed them several times and don’t get any reply.
Guess I will get round to phoning them on Monday if things don’t change but hate phoning.
I hate phoning so how long should I leave it before chasing them again. Can’t understand a company that claims t despatch orders next working day taking 5 over five days to sort such a simple order out. Ordered in-stock items etc.
What would you do?
Also concerned about order placed and despatched but not received?
gboarderFree MemberHi FunkyDunc,
I spent a week in hospital with pneumonia years ago after coming off my bike and landing on the side of my chest rather heavy.
I’m surprised you’ve been having treatment for three weeks, that seem’s like a long time……
In my case I felt crap for about a month or so afterwards, but got back on my bike and rode gently etc.
I still worry about the cold getting on my chest, but might be a more mental reaction to my whole experience.
All I could advise, is take it very gentle you will not like getting out of breath and overextending your lungs is just not pleasant at all.
Hope your well soon.
Cheers

gboarderFree MemberThanks Guys,
So just think I need to add a few bits to my original list.
Really like the look of that bivvy sac – so just order one.
Always take a waterproof, so just need to find some light weight / low bulk extra layers – add a few choice tools and I should be good to go with my map and compass.
Interesting people mention first aid kits, I’ve ridden for so many years and had one in the boot of my car and the only accident I have had that would warrant one, just got in the car and drove home dripping in blood. Might chuck it in as if you have one at least it should mean you carry it around pointlessly.
Thanks again for your input.
G
gboarderFree MemberI’ve had my three letters, and ignored them all. Haven’t had anything for about three months, so would suggest you do the same.
Think they get people to pay by pure intimidation and threats, so pleased I read the forums.
😆
gboarderFree MemberUsed Parcel Force 48 the other week. Paid a surcharge to cover the value of the items posted £800 approx. so package cost me £47 ish. Posted it on Tuesday and they delivered it the following Monday. I complained and filled in there claim form and have received compensation £3.56.
With this level of service I certainly not going to use them again.
gboarderFree MemberNot sure if it’s very relevant, but back ten or even twenty years, you would always try and get a good couple of rides / miles in with a new wheel set before going on a trip or racing and then if necessary take them back into the shop for re-tensioning.
I’ve been to a few xc-races where brand new wheels have literally shaken apart, mind you not mine……
Not sure if this is the same for modern wheel set’s.

gboarderFree MemberI used to surfer from cramp during surfing/bodyboarding, since reading on a bodyboarding forum about tonic water and banana’s. Since using both I generally hardly ever get crap.
Give it a go. see if it helps.
gboarderFree MemberI’m already running – well I class it as running as not so fast – as having trouble with sorting out my breathing, but I manage 4.5 undulating miles in 45 minutes – but hope to improve this steadily as my general fitness improves.
Also planning on swimming, but need to get pool and sessions sorted out.
Was also thinking about spinning classes – but these seem to get slated by most/some people.
Only have the one bike so road biking will have to be a no, and no spare money to add one in.
But happy to do some sessions on MTN bike on road to add in a little smother speed work. Thanks for all the guidance so far guys, such a instant response.

gboarderFree MemberGot some fairly ancient Night Suns – old school and very heavy but night riding in winter is defiantly on my to do list. In times past I used to ride loads at night in the Peak near Sheffield and found it was great for increasing your technical ability as you end up riding what’s directly in front of you.
I’m riding 2 or 3 times a week (34 miles) at a medium to high intensity with Average speed of 12 MPH.
Don’t have much problem with motivation but would appreciate some guidance.
gboarderFree MemberThe only way to go is Tumi – but sit down as it could cost you more than you have to put in it…….
gboarderFree MemberHi,
If you fancy trying one, I have just replaced mine with a new one the old one is still intact and the leather is not split etc.
PM me and I can send you some images, will sell just to cover postage etc so about £10 paypal.
BTW: it’s all black with the standard rails. Approx. 8 years old but only used for approx. 500 miles or so.
Cheers

gboarderFree MemberSorry to jump in on your thread but was thinking about doing it next year – does anybody have a heads up as to dates as might class with Olympics etc.
Good luck btw….
