Heading up to Skye this week for a few days camping with the girlfriend. Planning on staying at the staffin campsite on the north of the island and taking in the Quirang and Old Man of Storr. Would love to hire a guide and do the Black Cuillins but even the thought of the exposure scares the shit out me!!!

Sick of paying a fortune for Fusion cartridges, so I eventually took the plunge and decided to buy one of those Merkur razors, brush, shaving and a sample pack of blades. Time will tell whether I’ve made the right decision.

+1 for i-cycles. Steve is usually working in the shop until late and will help or point you in the right direction. Top bloke in my opinion.

I’ve emailed them for a refund as there is no way I would manage it this year. Done no training due to a car accident in March so there is no point in even thinking about making it.

Mac, i’ve had my mera peak for 5 or 6 years and the style has changed somewhat. It still keeps the water out, although it doesn’t run off it for long, despite cleaning with tech wash. As the OP mentioned, cotswold have the latok on offer.

+1 for the Nevada M so i’d expect the same from the Nevada L.
Find the best online price and then try Go Outdoors who will beat it by 10%.

What kaesae said. Me and the other half split after 17yrs after i i **** up. I started going through the pish things in the relationship – and there were numerous – which made it easier to move on. I even had people tell me they thought the ex was a nippy cow!!

Had my right knee done twice. First op they used the patella tendon and hamstring for the 2nd. For me, the latter was the more successful of the two. I was back on the exercise bike after 10 days (little or no resistance) and on mtb after a couple of months, however, that was mainly on the road. Offroad was about 6 months and I was extremely conscious of the graft being vulnerable. Maybe a bit late but I’d suggest getting those quads and hamstrings built up as you will lose them to an extent. Attend physio, do your exercises religously post op and DON’T rush to get back to what you were doing beforehand as it will take time.

Cheers for the replies. I plummed for the Rab Bergens which I got from go outdoors through their price match scheme.

My paclite ones have lasted ok but neither fabric is brilliantly robust…

I’ve read some reviews and I was surprised that this was a common complaint against the paclite fabric. Suppose it’s lighweight or robustness. Was also considering the Berghaus Deluge, which uses Aquafoil fabric and can be had for about £30 – £40.

I use an exercise bike and have tried a turbo trainer. Preferred the excerise bike, however, I promise, you WILL get bored out your skull on either of them!! Not tried the rollers though.

I’m lucky to have been on the bike 5 times since September last year. This has been due to college and a car accident (was rear ended when working as a driving instructor). Thought about packing it in and doing more hillwalking. However, as i sit typing this i’m swithering about going out on the bike. Sometimes it’s the thought of getting ready that puts me off, or in other words, being a lazy fecker.

Had the old style fabia vrs and managed to get my 20″ five, mates 18″ kona and our gear in. Wheels off, saddles out, parcel shelf out, back seat down and front seats forward a tad (i’m 6’2). I now have a mark 2 (fabia3) and not that i’ve tried it yet, i’m sure i could get both bikes in with some careful positioning.

    Molgrips, try http://www.kettlebellseminars.co.uk
I found them to be the cheapest and had free p+p too. £35 for your 20kg bell.

Was in a similar situation but seperated for other reasons. Not an easy decision but one that only you can make. Whatever you decide there is going to be a lot of heartache so be prepared!! However, life’s too short to be stuck in a miserable relationship.

Until 5 weeks ago, I used a Fabia vrs as a driving school car. Was a fantastic car and pulled like a train despite having 151,000 hard miles on it. Would still have it if some stupid cow never rear ended me during a lesson.

Same thing happened to mine, although it took almost 3yrs. I popped the seals (be careful not to damage them), cleaned out the sh1te and freed them off, fresh grease and they are fine. The price of sram replacements are a bit salty!!!

Pdi means he’s a trainee and has still to pass the final part of the qualification process. This is known as part 3, the ability to teach and has a national pass rate of approx 25%. That should give you an idea of how difficult it is to become a driving instructor. If his training has been up to scratch, then it shouldn’t matter. I started the same way so i wouldn’t criticise the use of PDIs, however, i have witnessed some poor trainees. Chances are, you will be paying full price for an hrs lesson, despite him being a trainee instructor and if you have a problem with this, then look elsewhere.

I picked a Seagate 1tb hard drive from Maplin for £70. The 500gb wasn’t much less.

Just bought a Montane featherlight velo jacket for £40. Not used it yet but it received favourable reviews on the CRC website. I wanted a pertex type material as I boil up when wearing gore-tex.

No pics, but bagged an Outwell Nevada M tent, carpet, footprint and extension for £150 during the Go Outdoors Boxing Day sale. The fact that it’s my first bargain for years, makes it my favourite piece of kit.

Prism looks a bit heavy for biking in. Was looking at something like the Featherlite Smock or the RAB VapourRise (not keen on the hood though)

Chain Reaction wouldn’t price match so it’s back to the drawing board. I’ll just keep hold of the vouchers until I see a ‘bargain’ and get the cassettes from Merlin. Now,do I go for 2 XT or 3 SLX?

    gazza100

Just noticed that the price of an SLX cassette at CRC has jumped up to 45 quid. What a **** rip off!!!!

Had a pair of shorts repaired by them as i only stay a 20 minute drive away) only for the stitching to come away again. As CG said, gore from now on as they last.

I’m waiting to see if chain reaction will price match and go for the slx. If they do, then for an extra couple of quid i’ll be able to get 3 (received vouchers as a christmas present) instead of 2 pg990. The weight saving is nothing really when they are being attached to a 29lb orange 5.

    gazza100

Ah well, another option to think about. Was going to opt for slx over xt due to the price, but the pg990 could be the winner.

How does the pg990 compare to xt?

I’ve been thinking the same, so I’m going for the SLX cassettes. They can be had for pennies over £30 a piece if you shop about. I’m looking for Chain Reaction to price match as I received vouchers for Christmas.
