Glen Nevis is good. Been there twice in the last couple of months. Facilities are good and the food from the onsite snack van is really good.. although a bit expensive. To be expected I guess.

Endura gloves are crap. They fall apart after a handful of rides.. 100% make some decent ones at a reasonable price. The Ridecamp and Brisker are my goto’s now..

looks like it might be a Beta feature. My strava updated this morning and it doesnt have the new activity types. I just joined the beta programme and the app updated again. now the types are available.

IIRC. the only trail that’s going to be lost is Zoom Or Bust. Although there may be a way to divert or rework it. Berm Baby Berm should be ok although there was talk about moving the start point closer to Cool Runnings.

Is it just me that looks at that video of the artillery destruction and thinks that is really good agricultural soil and some poor bugger will struggle to plough that ground for years to come. One thing is for sure, they won’t be planting it this season!

Probably just you.. I tend to notice the dead children’s bodies in the street. :-(

UK gov is a **** joke.

    When’s the revolution?

NATO will end up going in.. Its not a matter of if.. Its a matter of when..

The fact that civilians are now targets in this war means that it amounts to nothing more than ethnic cleansing. Europe will end up being the driving force behind some sort of response. Meanwhile the UK and USA will drag their heels and maybe apply some more sanctions.

The DHR 2 was my go to tyre for a few years, but only as a rear. I tried it on the front and it was horrific in comparison to the likes of a DHF or Magic Mary.

MM/DHR2 was a fantastic setup but its been overtaken by the MM/Big Betty now.

How to find Apple AirTag with Android phone?

Once installed on an Android smartphone, the ‘Tracker Detect’ helps Android users to carry out a manual scan for item trackers near them. If the application detects any trackers, it will inform the user. Additionally, the application will also allow Android users to play a sound on the tracker device to find its location. The app has been built to detect both lost AirTags and any other trackers that are being used for malicious purposes. The Tracker Detect application says that it looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. Additionally, the item trackers that can be detected by using the application also include tracker devices from other companies. Android users who think they are being tracked can scan their surroundings using the application.

Apple kindly defeats the purpose of having an airtag

Biggest mistake is limiting your audience to Apple only users. You could have gone for the Chipolo One devices which integrate into Apple’s Find MY network but the plus side is that they are also compatible with android devices. At 38mm diameter, they are only marginally larger than an airtag

Suite Hotel Jardins Da Ajuda : a 5 min cycle west from Freeride. just around the corner is a supermarket, shopping centre etc. There are bars and restaurants in the area as well. Its listed on booking.com. There are a few apartments also in the same rough area. Price wise its working out at £319 for me for a week in March 2022

For transfers. https://www.facebook.com/DanielMadeiraTaxis Cheaper than freeride and holiday companies.

Freeride are really good. The guys know their stuff and the service is fantastic.

    There are other options though.

They are great for MTB BUT, you do need to increase tension on the pedals slightly, compared to what you would have on SH51’s. I’ve ran them for years and wouldn’t use sh51’s now.

Your best bet would be to go up to buzzards nest on a Saturday when the kids clubs are meeting up. have a look at the kids around the same age/size as yours and see what bikes they are riding. Also speak to the parents and see what the general consensus is with regards to bikes etc. Because they are riding the same trails as your kids you should get a good idea of what works and what doesnt.

Tried numerous cheap alternatives.. they are all crap compared to Stans.. Regular stans is ok . Stans Race is better on bigger holes though.

The plan, as told at the meeting in Innerleithen a couple of years ago, was that the golf course clubhouse would be flattened and the area would be used as a car park. The clubhouse would then move to the bottom chairlift station and share facilities with hikers and bikers. This would allow for a better cafe and better facilities compared to what the golf club currently has. The top station would be near the NYNY, Lone wolf, Waterworld junction.
There would also be 4-5 bike park style trails built. these would be on both sides of the hill. IIRC the current trails would be somewhat affected by this.

Independence is going to happen.. It’s just a matter of when.

The furlough debacle was a perfect indication of why Westminster is failing everyone but England.. There is no Union, its just England lording it over the other nations..

I’ve not managed to find one useful trail on trailforks. Maybe they’re successfully hidden from me?! Seems to be loads in Canada and USA (for obvious pinkbike reasons). The only ones I’ve found are the waymarked trail centres, so pointless anyway.
Komoot seems to have way more mtb segments to aim at, you can link them into a route. can’t say if they are all on legit ground but probably nothing stopping anyone from creating them wherever they want.

There’s currently 15400 UK trails loaded onto the Trailforks system. I find it surprising that you can’t find a single one which is useful to you.. What area have you been looking in?

I also use komoot and there are significantly less trails on their system than there is in Trailforks. Komoot is a platform for routes rather than trails anyway.

Incase anyone is interested: UK Statistics

Trailforks is a mapping resource. It pulls data from Strava, OSM, OS and multiple other sources. If there are trails in an area then they are liable to end up on the system. If you don’t want them on the system, delete them from strava, OSM and OS and there is less of a chance that they will be added.

If you are the landowner and you have unsanctioned trails which are listed on Trailforks, you can request to have them removed.

If you are a trailbuilder and you build unsanctioned trails on someone elses land, you can approach the landowner and have them request that the trails are removed.

I just bought a new pair of Lake MXZ303’s to replace my old worn out ones. They are really good, Never had any issues with cold coming through from the cleat mount. Same goes for water.

One of the best investments I’ve ever made. It makes biking in the winter much more bearable.

On a side note.. If there are areas where there are trails but they aren’t on Trailforks, feel free to ping me a message on trailforks and i will have a look at having them uploaded. Same goes if you find mistakes etc..

My 2p on the charges .. I can understand why people are getting upset, nobody likes it when you have to pay for something that you were once getting for free.. BUT, in order for trailforks to become more functional, more useful and just generally better.. It needs cash.

hands up how many have actually contributed to trailforks rather than just consumed…

I added a few a while back but I seem to remember it being quite a tortuous process so I lost interest.

I’ve been the admin for Scotland for a few years, and the UK admin for a couple of years. Currently 6th highest contributor in the world.

The process is simple if you read the guides before you start adding content. It becomes difficult when you add stuff that doesnt meet the criteria required for inclusion.

Looks like it’s going to be wet when we go in a couple of weeks time.

Is there one hill that suffers more in the wet and one that rides better?

Golfie rides better in the wet.. I think it rides better in the wet than it does in the dry TBH :-)

They had a set of cranks on offer so i sent them an email to confirm the q-factor on them.

10 days later they responded with
“that’s not something we would know. You will have to take that up with the manufacturer”

The deal on the cranks had ended by the time they responded..

    Useless.

Going by a post on facebook.. it sounds like the builders were a bit naughty and cut down some large trees.. FLS tend to see that as criminal damage so they have put the foot down.

    Re: Trailforks..

    Difficulty Rating.
To aid new visitors to the area, we are trialling a difficulty indicator. The trails name is followed by a value from 1-5. This will help give you an indication of how difficult the trail is compared to other trails on the hill. Due to the limitations of the current grading system, there is currently no way of knowing the difference in level between the various black grade trails. This will hopefully go a little way to sort that out. (1) is least technical, (5) is most technical.

    https://www.trailforks.com/region/caberston/trails/

Whilst not an exact scientific rating. It gives you a general idea of what you are getting into.
