I think you can get them resoled:
    http://www.fiveten.com/us/aquastealth-resole-kit
US only but it says UK coming soon.
    or
    http://www.lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk/approach_mountain_bike_shoe_repairs.htm

or actually I have pair of the Shimano shoes for flats (not sure what they are called) – sometimes I prefer them as the soles are less grippy and can move the foot around a bit unlike the 510s.

What MoreCashThanDash says about insurance. Notify them immediately assuming you are covered for this. They will probably appoint an engineer. If you employ your own make sure its a structural engineer not a surveyor. You will be outside of something like an NHBC warranty as they are usually 10 years.

I did that once when I was younger, became confused and took the wrong exit onto a dual carriageway. Miles until next roundabout. Haven’t tried it since!

I would have disappointed if he didn’t have a wad of £50s. What I always think of well off/rich people is that they employ an awful lot of people one way or another.

I think one of the biggest changes is suspension technology. My Fox 32s which used to feel brilliant now feel like wet noodles compared with pikes. Bars haven’t got wider, trees are growing closer together.

The Queen: “who is the Architect?”
    Me: “erm, me Ma’am”
Queen: “You must be proud of your building.”
    Me: “Yes Ma’am”

That was it. Not my finest moment in conversation but at least I didn’t say anything silly.

I would have thought should be ok (which its obviously not!). Possible issues are old paint or some reaction with the previous coating or not cleaning the surface properly so that the paint may have reacted with some grease or something that may react with the solvent.

A couple of years ago on a lovely day at Watergate Bay, the RNLI (who provide a service on this beach) had a stall for membership at the entrance to the beach. The beach was packed. When we left we stopped to chat to the RNLI guys and join up. They said we there the 3rd family to do so in the whole day.

Thank you to all who replied. I think Tom_W_1987 has it right that its a ‘marginal gain’. So easy to get caught up in the press/manufacturer move towards something and think thats the way forward. I do feel tyre squirm but prob could be sorted with a little more pressure. Prob just saved myself a few hundred quid! Cheers.

Buy a shoe measuring thing, then buy shoes online. Beautiful experience by comparison. Lets face it, “trained shoe fitter” most likely means 10 mins on how to use the sizing thing. http://www.johnlewis.com/clarks-shoe-fitting-gauge-junior/p231603938

Walkers Worcestershire sauce flavour in a cheddar cheese sandwich. BTW – did anyone see that programme on how crisps are made and packaged recently? Brilliant.

Funnily enough went to sumners ponds in Sussex last week. Never been actual carp fishing before but used to fish a lot when younger before education interrupted my budding match fishing career. Anyway I went into the on site tackle shop and asked for some maggots. It was like those bars in the Wild West when the killer walks in. Everyone stopped to stare! Anyway ended up buying some boilies and catching a couple. Will go back with some stronger tackle as my Avon rod wasn’t really up to it.

I use the cycle lane on the bit from Pixham Lane to Box Hill. The Northbound side is better surfaced than the other as a link between those two points its fine. I think its ok up to the Leatherhead roundabout too but I’ve not cycled that bit. I certainly wouldn’t use the road on that bit just through safety considerations although I can see why people do. Not in favour of bans but if the cycle lane was as good quality as the road more cyclists would use it I’m sure.

I went into local spesh dealer looking at either stumpjumper or camber evo. Shop guy tried to sell me an epic. No offence mate but if I was as specific as those two bikes it would probably tell me what sort of market I was interested in. Purchase not made in that shop. Otherwise I like more local bike shop. I get 10% discount which is often more than in CRC or some such.

Ok as this is still going I have another. A colleague was having a bruising time on one project with a project manager who was a complete BAs£ard. I left a post it on his desk saying the ‘tony’ had called and seemed pretty upset about something could he call him back. You could see the stress on his face as he dialled. It was one of those mr angry lines where the replies are perfectly timed. Anyway he went through the whole call spluttering as ‘Tony’ raged on the other end. Eventually ‘Tony’ hangs up. My colleague ashern faced said ‘I think I had better ring him back it’s pretty serious’. So he rang back and went through the same intro until it dawned on him it was the same. At which point he shouted quite a few rude words at us as we were wetting ourselves laughing.

Sent a weblink to colleague which directed him to a site which flashed on and off with bright pink screen with words “I AM WATCHING GAY PORN”. It also disabled the mouse and keyboard so after almost minute of panic including trying to cover his hands over the screen (the boss could see his screen from his desk) he remembered to turn the screen off. He still reminds me about it and it was over 10 years ago.

    50. My regular riding mate is 35. I am always saying there should be a 1lb per year weight handicap to his bike.

    Big n daft
Look at the pool and realise why architects exist. It’s a very expensive municipal pool which is a celebration not just a pool. Reported budgets for buildings like these are often misleading as they include infrastructure to enable the project. I don’t know if this is the case with the Aquatics centre but just a general point. The velodrome was massively over budget too. Often the original budget is just ridiculously under estimated for whatever reason and it sounds like the architects fault when the a client gets what they want. In the end you could just ride a cheapo halfords special but actually because you want something that will perform brilliantly and look damn cool you spend a lot more money. It’s the same with architecture. Or actually probably anything.

I’m 6′ 6″ and ride a XL camber evo. Personally I think 29ers are the best thing since coffee for my size. I know it’s not in yr travel but I guess the stumpy 29er would do the thing you want. I guess lots of other manufacturers similar in sizing too, as you can see above.

@teamhurtmore – I think they are but I think they are reflecting the increased capabilities of the bikes. I keep thinking an ‘enduro’ bike will make me a better rider but its not true – or is it!?

Depends on style and budget of course!
    Modern and expensive: http://www.dline.com/products/d-line/hardware/
Modern and not so expensive: http://www.trapex.com/Lever_Page.html
    Traditional: http://www.fromtheanvil.co.uk/door-furniture

Probably all a bit expensive – but good quality. The dline prices will make your eyes water.

Why not hire a car? You can get exactly what you want, brand new. Will cost a bit but after end of holiday you hand it back and don’t have the risk of a dodgy buy and keep your own car that you already have.

“The Survey”… what an excuse to print money. I do wish mortgage companies would learn that they are useless. “Purlins undersized to current B Regs”… Is the guy serious?? Its laughable. He probably missed anything serious while writing ‘damp’ and ‘undersized purlins’ and not lifting a carpet. Grrrrr. OK rant over. I think the OP has listed the obvious stuff. If damp is on an internal wall then check poss leaking water/heating pipes or roof flashings. Also if floors are suspended timber, check for signs of dry rot near the damp patches.
