The village road we live on is 30mph. The highest recorded figure during some monitoring by the community speed watch during 2004 was 96mph. Almost everyone speeds. I sit at 30mph (as I live here) and cars soon bunch up behind me. Often I get overtaken even though the actual distance along the road is short. I think community speed watch do a good job if they slow the traffic down. If a child steps into the road they will not get a second chance in life.

A friend of mine who I used to row with went to Leander Club when he was 18 at the time when jurgen grobler had just started coaching the GB team. When he asked what he should do on the erg, grobler replied ’20k Ja!’ So he did that. I asked him how long it took as in those days that sort of distance was unheard of. He said it took 70 minutes. That works out as 1:45min/500m as average. So the OP is asking what to do: 20k Ja? (only joking).

Graphics cards seem to be the thing with macs. Check what the software requires. I’m on Vectorworks and the latest version requires a graphics card which is only available in the 27incher. As far as I know the cards are not user changeable.

I did this about 10 years ago and replaced the old galv tank with a new plastic one. Fairly easy with push fit stuff. Only issue I came across was the loft hatch wasn’t big enough!! Duh. Spent a day I didn’t have space making a bigger hole in the ceiling! We used a 3 bar pump which was a bit noisy but great pressure. Again all easy with push fit.

You could try a car tyre workshop? I was looking at the repair done (not side wall) on my winter tyres the other day and it looked pretty secure (thankfully!).

Well I think what happens is that the planes fly. Into the wind as far as able. Well whenever I drive past Heathrow they normally are landing but sometimes taking off which would seem to support that theory. I’m no airport designer but fundamentally a runway is used in boh directions. Anyway, my previous post about builders in the south pasted this link https://youtu.be/T8dB4YnLSsE. I think it reminds me of the third runway too.

Its fairly obvious Grayling doesn’t have clue. “Less disruption… hahahaha. That part of the M25 is already a total nightmare. And “a gentle hill up which the planes would take off…” HAHAHAHA what about landing.? “a gentle hill down which they would land on”? If he was a football manager the crowd would be chanting “you don’t know what you’re doing….”

The courts will decide if anyone was at fault, but perhaps this case will mean that instructors have to increase their levels of insurance? Feel bad for both parties, there is never a winner in these things.

‘slept’ in the front of my 1994 fiesta once after a party. I couldn’t afford a room at a lovely hotel where all my mates were staying. It was cold and uncomfortable not surprisingly. Woke up looking and feeling like death – staggered in to the hotel and blagged an excellent breakfast so made it worthwhile. No one seemed to question that I still had last nights DJ on…

Pictonroad – re earlier post. Worthing even too south for anyone I know!
If you dont know the company (when you eventually find one!) ask for references and go and see the previous clients of theirs.
Actually that ‘quote’ reminded me of this:

pictonroad.. love that, thanks for posting!
Where about are you? The ‘south’ is a fairly large area. I may be able to name a couple of possible builders for you depending on where you are.

I would have thought that her tutor should have been advising her on the dissertation before submission so that it didn’t come to this point. You don’t just write it sat in a room on your own and not show it until submission day.
I think the advice about seeing the head of department/nursing school as above is sound. First port of call.
I’d say it sounds like your wife has received some poor support.
All will not be lost though, you need to find out what the options are now from the university and look forward not backward.
    Good luck.

Considering the amount of riding I’ve been able to do recently… A new bike?

Spot… That’s so utterly brilliant. Actually he’s so bright he’ll be running for president in no time.
On more serious matters my then 7 year old son suffered concussion. The next day after the event he couldn’t stand up and his speech was slurred. I thought he was having a stroke. Called ambulance. Not a good few minutes. But I surpassed myself by texting my wife to say he’s not well and so I called an ambulance… Interesting text to receive when on the train to London in the morning! All fine eventually but took a few weeks to return to normal.

We have just put two into a barm conversion. It’s not yet finished so owls won’t turn up but they are still around. There are some key aspects to location such as height and clear flight path to the box. I think the barn owl trust has all that info but if not I’m sure a local ecologist would give you some advice.

Football.. non contact? Thats not the game I see. OK its not ‘contact’ like rugby but still a physical game. I would say stud length depends on the state of the pitch. My 10yr old plays both and has never been asked about stud length in either game. About time for some finger jabbing at the rule book if I were you!

Just spent 3 hours driving from Dorking to Pangbourne. Traffic hell. At journey’s end so now in cafe having eaten huge fry up and on second extra shot latte. Oh the healthy lifestyle….

Ours did that. I think it’s grit in the supply bit (technical term). I held my finger over the end where the water comes out to increase water velocity (like on end of a hose pipe). Did that a few times and it hasn’t happened since!

I saw Supervan 2 at silverstone a lot of years ago. Absolutely awesome speed and noise. As engine in the back maybe no room for the bikes though….

I thought some of the in-car shots were the best seen for a while. Really enjoyed that part. Loved the driver changes – completed debunked the glamour of race driving.

Kajaki was really good but so tense found I couldn’t watch half of it! 633 squadron and The Guns of Naverone. The start of Saving Private Ryan I thought was absolutely outstanding.

As most have said: yes to listed building consent. It is a criminal offence to alter a listed building inside or outside without permission. Discuss it with your local conservation officer if you can.

Had that in previous office. Deputation to the boss who dealt with it. He called him in. Told him he stank. He denied it. Boss said ‘shall I open the door and ask the whole office?’ Gave him some advice and told him to sort it out. Next day guy came in. Smell gone. He told us he didn’t even know that he smelt so bad. It’s def a bosses job. Way above pay grade of anyone else.

Never bothers me people drafting. I just go as fast as I can, leave nothing. If he’s still there fair play. At some point one of us will blow up (usually me!).

You didn’t say if you had paid him anything already. Assuming he said I’ll do the works for £1800 and you said yes then you have a contract. He hasn’t done the work yet so unless you agreed payment terms I would say you don’t owe him anything. He would need ‘reasonable time’ to do the work and only a judge would decide what that was. The works are everything not most of it. If it were me, I would get another reputable carpenter to give me a quote for doing/redoing the outstanding work and deduct this from the original amount and tell him all that.
As suburbanreuben said – def tell his decorator mate that it wasn’t good.

I’m not sure but I get the feeling most are saying ‘no’ to helmets? Or maybe they are saying ‘yes’ to choice? I’m not sure. I hardly ever see anyone not wearing a helmet. A few roadies and the very very occasional offroadie. Surrey is hardly a small proportion of cyclists either. I fell off road riding last year and smashed my helmet on the side. I really don’t want to think of the outcome if I hadn’t been wearing it. My choice is to wear one but I do think there should be choice.

Nice light, nice pipework. If worried get a structural engineer round to report. It’s difficult to see what’s happening from pics.

Thought the structure was interesting. The timber cladding will look much better in its context when it’s weathered. Project cost discussion at the end was predictably woolly. Handrails a bit lacking but with some judicious use of interpretation the access ramp may be considered the approach to the building not the actual building.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR estate in 6 speed manual. Not sure if you can fit a tow bar though. Not that I would spend that much on a Vauxhall.
