I love the: “might be…”. Easy words.
It could depend on whether there has been anything built on it at all, whether green belt/AoNB etc. You could always try NPPF paragraph 55. On the final bullet there are a number of houses which have permission on this basis but its not an easy route and you would need expert advice which would cost a considerable sum in fees.
I would say that if you can afford it then buy it, maybe a long term investment, or maybe just a field to build a pump track on!

There s a group based in Hook Norton called ‘old men on bikes’ or something like that. Look them up on google or maybe Facebook. I don’t think they are all old!

Forgot to reset the torque wrench when tightening up a seat clamp bolt. It was in my old flat and was fixing bike on the landing. The bolt sheared off and rocketed shot out like a bullet. I say ‘like a bullet’ as I didn’t actually see it. All I saw and heard was the smashing of the big mirror we had on the landing…..

Im a big Wiggo fan but feel slightly uneasy about the TUE saga. The lack of clarity is disappointing and the fact that only exposed by the Russian’s even more so. If nothing to hide, don’t hide it especially given Team Sky’s zero tolerance approach.

Whatever you do leave min 50mm min air gap above the insulation and ensure that your have cross ventilation to this void.

I think vouchers that are for a specific use – i.e. a day at BPW – its fair that they have a time limit. Vouchers that are for say £100 redeemable against say a day at BPW should be unlimited time.

Haven’t read all the answers so may be a repeat but taking the rider out from the equation as obviously Gee Atherton is going to be faster than me if he was on a Brompton and I was on the best bike ever… I would probably say geometry and suspension performance. I have a 29er and I’m no faster on it than I was on my orange 5 26er. The 29er fits me better and hence I’m more comfortable and hence enjoy riding it more but Im not faster. Actually Im less fit now which may make more of a difference!

Look on Celotex website for information how to fix plasterboard bonded insulation. I would add caution as others have done about anything fibre based that is old. If in doubt get it tested. Asbestos fibre was still used in the construction industry up to year 2000. Polystyrene under wallpaper was used a lot in the 70s to ‘insulate’ rooms. I’d remove it I were you, maybe don’t use a heat gun though.

I was told by an AV guy that the way to think about it is like water supply. You probably only have a 15mm main as incoming but good pressure. The main in the road is much bigger. Copper is like 15mm the whole way, so when your neighbours are online your pressure goes down. Fibre is like a big fat pipe and so when everyone else is on it your pressure is still good. Made sense to me anyway!

Fitness falls off a cliff if I don’t do anything for a couple of weeks.
Look at a car by first checking out how big the boot is.

Are the camp sites around Morzine stuffed full of mtb’ers all behaving like Ratboy? Don’t get me wrong – I’d love that to be me but I would always end up on the wrong side of my wife so wouldn’t be ideal!

I have gone 1x and its fine. To be fair I’m no quicker or slower than the double it replaced. A mate still used 3x and he’s very fast. It’s also a lot lot cheaper 2 or 3x! The one big advantage to me is the position of the dropper remote.

Looking at that list it’ll be windy in the morning if not before. Salmon and noodles here with some stir fried veg. Rather oddly a bowl of cereal for pudding or should I be calling it dessert?

I think there is only one action and that is to give way. We don’t want to do that but as someone else said, there is only one outcome if you get hit by the car and its a bit late for ‘you were in the right’ discussion. How much is the delay to you to stop? Take the moral high ground and be comfortable that you have set the example and you’re not bothered. Give him a friendly wave too (not the single digit wave!) as if you are happy that you have given way.

I have a basic Trek Domane. It’s rim braked but they do disc versions now. It’s been good. Comfortable riding position. OEM tyres were rubbish but everything else still going strong.

im glad the fire fitting guy is a damp expert – oh he was wrong yeah funny that. Also rain coming down the chimney can cause damp if the unused flue isn’t vented. I’d let it dry it a bit and if necessary tell the fire guy to wait a bit. I won’t paint on any damp proofing unless it’s ok for use in that sort of area.

Forgetting the fee at the moment if I were the architect I would tell them to take a long walk up short pier with that liability proposal. Absolutely unbelievable.

We have an XC90 and its been ok. Probably £500 per year average on upkeep + servicing costs + £500 on road tax. It is 10 years old. Its a bit agricultural compared with the Disco but lovely on long journeys. Size wise I’d say its about the same as the Disco if not a bit better in the shape of the boot. Disco’s is much boxier but I’m constantly amazed by how much stuff goes in the back of the Volvo. Ours has done 115k miles so not massive and apparently it should do twice that but well may be Trigger’s broom by then! The four wheel drive system isn’t anyway near as sophisticated as the Disco but manages ok (never been stuck anywhere). I would get another one if thats recommendation of sorts. My BiL had a Disco and he was always telling me of expensive fixes required although thats my only reference.

OK, if its a suspended floor (which it is if you’ve been looking under it!) then much easier to insulate to current regs as insulation can go between the joists.

I would say depends on quality/age of existing extension. If you demolish you will have to rebuild the new bit to building regs including the floor.

Those wooden treads will be as slippery as hell pretty soon. Treated wood plank riser pegged and backfilled with type 1 as tread. Look much better. That wooden staircase is a ridiculous idea.

It may end reasonable priced instruction. Insurance is almost always available if you pay the set premium. It may be that the premiums are so high or the level of excess so high that none of us want to pay the price of instruction to cover this. Signing forms saying you accept its a dangerous sport etc I do not think are relevant to negligence. Its a sad case on both sides. I hope the instructor’s insurance covers all the loss.
