Depends on how you define ‘shit hits the fan’. Normally a phrase used for a work balls up or something similar. I know some work related matters where a nuke would have been a good outcome though. I would hope that generally the thought of retaliation would stop someone in the first place and the chance of some crackpot dictator doing a first strike without any warning whatsoever seems unlikely. Terror attack with dirty bomb seems most likely and all nukes in the world wont stop them. This is an interesting article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/12113193/Trident-The-man-with-the-nuclear-button-who-would-fire-Britains-missiles.html
I hope Mrs May has clear handwriting….

    92 miles.
Would be interesting to do an average of stw distances posted.

I would have thought pro road cyclists, rowers and biathletes. Sports like tennis and football slightly different as there is rest involved in play.

Caution re park and float. Tide times can scupper return then you are stuck with the bus.

We are going to Watergate Bay again this year. Just up from Newquay. Lovely beach. Can get quite crowded in the water if the flags are close.

He was going way faster than I would on my proper mtb! That was fun viewing though and loved the foot braking!

The thing is that all of these funding mechanisms take a long time to go through and a lot of effort and expertise to apply for and receive them. Even if the (what’s left of the U.K.) government apportion money for things like mtb trails it could take years before any money comes through. Any projects awaiting EU funding likely to be on hold. So a minimum delay of 2 years. Then give government time to organise the departments and allocate budgets and even more time to receive applications, consider and process them. Assuming tax income doesn’t go down in that time to reduce the available budget. Just for the record I voted remain.

Bought mine a piano for her 40th. It was what she wanted, but to be fair, I could have bought a bike for what it cost!

Someone else has probably already said it but I would do exactly what your contract says, nothing more nothing less. Check the cancellation timescales and method of cancellation i.e. – does it need to be in writing? In your post you noted they ‘called’ and that may not be a valid cancellation notice.

Most of my favourite t shirts are at least 10 years old and still worn. My favourite is about 15 years old and mrsP thinks she threw it out…. I retrieved it from the bin. Hehehehe

I am 6′ 6″ and ride a XL camber evo. Its fine for all the riding I want to do (Surrey and occasional to Wales). In reality it will go a lot faster over rougher stuff than my skills allow. In my case more travel would cover up lack of skill until the inevitable… Make sure it has a Pike or similar fork. Mine came with Reba’s and they were too flexible. I think for me, 29ers suit my height (looks like a 26 under me!) and for the first time I felt like the bike fitted.

If you can afford it yes. My wife and two children flew back from Barbados last summer in business. When they touched down at Gatwick my youngest (aged 6) shouted ‘I didn’t sleep all night!’ Apparently most likely no one else did either! Oops.

Yes that was the doc my wife saw. I couldn’t remember his name.

My wife suffered from over training a lot of years ago. She was rowing and trialing for GB. First symptoms from what I remember was that her training performances started going down. That makes the altelete train more… Which is of course the wrong thing to do. So she trained more. Eventually she was exhausted all the time and went to see the GB doc who diagognosed Over training syndrome. I think it’s called something else now. She hasn’t rowed since and for years if she tried training would get ill. She is currently doing the ‘couch to 5k’ which is going well. From what you say I would think that maybe you did too much training leading up to the race? Ideally you should taper your training down as the race approaches. Take in to account your working and family life too. Or maybe as others have suggested you have a virus.

I have a camber evo. Great bike, plenty enough for me. Interested in the guys with more than 120mm forks. I thought frame only for 120?

As above – electric and if you need a petrol one for a bigger cut then hire one.

We went today. It was brilliant. England were fantastic. We had the kids and there were lots of very drunk people about later on but all very friendly. Excellent day.

Never happened on the bike but was chased by a gang of skinheads while I was running round Clapham Common once. Fortunately they proved to be not very fit and they couldn’t catch me!

A long time ago was fishing on the oxford canal at the end of upper heyford airbase. The base practiced scrambling every available F1-11. The noise was mental and I was sat there thinking any minute now I’m going to get vaporised. In those days no iPhones to check the fact that ww3 had not in fact broken out.

Sun cream quite useful too, not really first aid but just useful (don’t bother with this in winter though!) – I’d agree with foil blanket or some other mini shelter. Usual plasters and a couple decent sized dressings.

We generally use logs during the day and throw coal on at night and shut it right down. In the morning give it a stir around and get some logs on and it’s off again. We can’t do that with just logs. For the one in my office I get it going with wood then coal and close it down – does it for the day – toasty!

Gawd – some of the ‘give ups’ are harsh! Exercise more? Running, walking? Make your own lunch rather than buying sandwiches? Absolutely no ready meals or take aways. I’ve started having salad with cous cous for lunch rather than a sandwich (maybe I’ll be riding a road bike more soon)…. I love chocolate though!

Commencal Meta – felt brilliant, so brilliant in fact that I slightly overdid it on one corner and smashed the derailleur on something. Walked the bike back. It was brand new, I was the first user. Oops.

The problem with bikes like the OPs is that they are only really in my opinion, second/winter bikes. For 450 on a second bike I would probably go for the VooDoo Bizango which has had good reviews over the years and is currently 530 new. (no new saddle/grips or sorting bearings etc out). I have a perfectly good 5 sat in the shed but rather than sell it for next to nothing, prefer to keep it (for some unaccountable reason!) The same goes with the Marin Rift Zone from pre O5 days. It seems if you keep a bike for 5 + years then its pretty much a) out of date and b) worthless. If OP gets 450: most excellent and happy days!

I used a local accountant who looked after everything. It wasn’t expensive and avoided any issues. Depends who your wife works for she may need to check with her employer if she can be a director/sec of another company. It can be financially beneficial to be able to pay another director (your wife) in shares as it is taxed differently (although this has changed in the last budget).

In an old office my desk was near the kitchen. We had a deaf guy and he used to have sugar in his tea. When he stirred his tea the spoon used to bang on the cup really loudly and he’d do it for ages. Used to drive me nuts. I used to tell him and he wrote me a note saying ‘it doesnt bother me and its not as loud as your farts!’ heehehehehe

Spent the day watching oldest son play in a footie tournament. Lost in the final in extra time. He’s the goalkeeper and he made about seven great saves in the match to keep the team in it. Best way of spending a bank holiday I reckon. Plus now have quite a red face due to the wind and sun !

Xtr trail here. Previously formula the ones which feel great but very narrow between the pads. No trouble with either and I don’t tend to look after.

Haven’t read all the posts. Some people will never believe the truth. I started supporting Liverpool when I was seven. I’m now fifty. I’ve found the last day really moving. On radio 5 yesterday they replayed the commentary and reporting of that day. Dusty room time.

Mercure Reims Centre Cathédrale. We stayed there on the way to skiing a couple of years ago. Secure underground car park, good location.

classic line… “not a pro”… but plant now if you can or much later in the year (december – april I think is the season). A client planted some recently at the height he wanted them, rather than wait until they grow which seems to be a good idea.
