    That golf should have ‘front assist’ which should apply the brakes if it senses you are too close. It offers audible and visual warning and if you do nothing, applies the brakes for you in ever increasing amounts. I just checked our manual and it operates from 3mph to 155mph. It does pick up cyclists in the radar coverage.
    Condolences to family and friends.

    Molgrips – happened to me once too. Never been back!
    I rode into the shop round the corner from school once (about 40 years ago…) – tried an endo turn and fell off – knocked s load of stuff over – the shopkeeper helped me up and was very good about it. Wouldn’t do it now though!!!

    Tailgating – slow down a bit to increase the gap to car in front. Then if the cars in front stop quickly you can slow down nicely giving tailgating man/person a chance not to rear end you.
    Generally I would say worse driving around at weekends and holiday times. Also at about 3pm on a Friday when every tradesperson is driving faster than Lewis Hamilton. Lorries – drive too close to vehicle in front almost without fail. Some driving seems to be worse between certain junctions for who knows what reason. Junction 10 to 9 of m25 Lane discipline is a total joke!

    I love the fact that your new security door stops you getting the bike out.

    First car a fiesta XR2 mkII – cost £4400 and insurance was 700. Bank loan. Sold it for 4200 a year later and went to Uni. Bike and bus for a good few years after that!!!

    As others have said, take sweets and fizzy pop. I always tell my 12 yr old son that its cool to walk down stuff if he’s not happy about it. We session stuff a lot which means he can build up to various bits of trail. Wd recommend they get some padded shorts – as we know makes the whole experience bearable!

    It could be that over time you have a build up of material under the decking which is now above any damp course? I’d get one of those planks up to have a look. Plus would be useful to have a slightly bigger gap between decking and wall. Personally I’d blame the chickens!

    Builders skip with ramp…. surely thats doable? Seeing I cant ride a simple drop off road without cacking myself I’m not sure why I think this.

    You should get the building inspector to have a look at that. The lead shouldn’t go under the flat roof material. As others has said felt goes up and then lead dresses over.
    Does all the water go to that one outlet? There’s a lot of drained area to one small downpipe.
    To answer your real question – yes to gutter to pitched roof.

    That crack likely caused by something other than the lack of a lintel – is it at the end of the garage and perhaps that end of the wall has dropped a bit? You can repair cracks like that with Helifix and grout after chasing the horizontal joints out.
    For the cill – either remove and fit a new one. You might be able to get a precast concrete cill for that with a piece of luck thrown in!

    Gave up 4 years ago – I’m 53 now. First 6 months was tough. The last time i missed it was last summer in the Lakes. Coming off the fells and having a coke just seemed strange. Increasingly if out for the evening and late to bed still feel a bit knackered in the morning but think whatever would I feel like if I had been drinking. It cant be a bad thing to give up. My kids are 10 and 12 and I want to see them grow up and hopefully giving up booze can only help my health.

    I’m 53 and can get below 50 sitting doing nothing. Mates was measured at 32 while in hospital for unrelated issue – apparently had everyone running around until he told them that was a bit high!

    1998 (?) was blue now black Explosif – came originally with bombers (why did I throw them out?) currently has a pair of pace rigid carbon forks on RC31? At this stage s bit worried about my memory! Last ride off road was about 10yrs ago. Used it in lakes, peaks, CYB, Alps, Chilterns and Surrey. Loved it but probably now it wd be scarey compared to today’s bikes. Elegantly simple though.

    Bangkok airport circa 1995. Arrived very early for my flight home – had hours to kill. After a while of sitting around a security guard came up and asked my if I wanted to check my rucksack in. Great thank you. After bag disappears he said ‘I’m finishing in half an hour and ten perhaps you come back to mine?’ Hmmmmm great! I say no and it’s 30 years in the Bangkok Hilton? Ok see you later. I was wearing a bright red tee shirt. So into shop – black tee shirt and hat. His in the bogs until flight. Never been so scared. Rucksack was fine but did wonder if something was going to be ‘found’ in it.

    I would say less than £1500/m2 unlikely. Add in VAT, fees for architect or surveyor drawings, party wall surveyor?, planning and building regs plus contingency. External works extra on that allowance.

    Used AA 5* once in France. They were brilliant. At home used More Than and they were poor. Reverted to AA and they were brilliant over the summer when I had a key crisis while on uk holiday.

    I have the revs and had a few issues until I read the instructions…. add air – remove pump – compress forks 5x to min half way – reattach pump – set exact pressure required. It seemed to work as the forks work brilliantly. Note – mine maybe 2019 forks as on a 2019 version bike.

    It’s such a shame but you do wonder if it was ever credible with so much money still needed? Also there has to be some concern from potential backers about being linked to a potentially catastropic event!? Would loved to have seen it get to those speeds though.

    I’ve managed a bad back for over 20 years – old rowing injury. These are the things I’ve found that helped:
    A long bed (I’m 6’6”) so that your feet are supported;
    Sleeping with your legs together (no jokes please!!)
    Core exercises;
    Sitting up at desks/tables – no slumping!
    Keeping active (although it doesn’t seem like that is an issue for you);

    Perhaps you should review your bike set up? Tiny changes can have a big effect on back, knees etc.

    If it hurts – stop. Would be my best advice.
