Im not sure if they are the same (bump) but i bought the above adapter to check the pressure and found it way below spec, its well worth checking as its made a massive difference to the feel of the shock.

If you take it for a quick spin it can free the bearing up,its caused by water getting past the seals and causing slight corrosion,if your unlucky it won’t free itself off and you will need to replace the free hub bearings asap

spraying plenty of gt85 into the axle can be a short term fix but protect the brake system from contamination

Prison band is off the Richter in terms of difficulty,I have done it a few times and its surprisingly good although its one of those with multi line choices and if you need to stop its very hard to get going again, if you enjoy the challenge of Rossett Gill then its well worth having a go, Its a popular walkers route too so avoid Sundays at all costs.

Wetherlam to Coniston is exellent to, turning right to the copper mines (Techy) or left towards Tilberthwaite farm (fast and flow single track) swirl how to leavens is not one i would rate as a descent

Check the mech hangar for alignment, there should be no damage on the mech itself too..

assuming you have both stop screws adjusted properly (with cable tension removed) you may need to turn the cable adjustment to increase or decrease cable tension until the noise stops

A gearbox bike would be my personal want, I’ve lost count of the amount of mechs, hangars and chainrings I’ve trashed over the last few years (Lake district area)

Boxelders route would get my vote, I hate that climb up from Latrigg

Theres no doubt depression is a very debilitating and often misunderstood subject, i can very much relate to your mind set ,and its a very dark place to be.I think its very important to understand what actually triggers the negative thoughts, once you understand this it can become easier to control your thought processes/patterns and start to deal with them in a constructive way. Regular exercise or something that concentrates your mind has had a mahoosive effect on my health and well being, and in time things do get better. talking to people always helps too, and some kind of counselling is always a good thing, antidepressants can take several weeks to take effect and it can seem like an eternity so don’t expect a quick fix hth 😉

I have been using XO shifters for years with no problems but on my mega i have a 10 speed xx1 with a grip shifter, I agree the design seems less robust than the earlier models,i don’t like the way its secured onto the bars either, maybe there are differences between 9 10 11 spd i don’t know.

As Boxelder says, To get to Esk Hause I have done the path from Tray Dubbs (South of Beck) and carried up angletarn beck, it needs to be dry though, but its quite nice single track in places along the valley, and not popular with the red sox.

The descent from Thornthwaite Beacon to Nan Bield is excellent too, having three stone stepped sections that are a real challenge to clean,it extends the Nanbield descent by quite a bit too. enjoy 😉

Theres some good single track that skirts ill bell and yoke and then descend onto the top of Garburn the trail is on the Kirkstone pass side of the fells and is a more direct route, rather than over the tops if its busy with red sox.

Pain in your hands when descending is a classic sign of the wrong bar position, the bar is often tilted to far forwards or back, causing pressure points between your forefinger and thumb, also consider front suspension settings,(softer) tyre pressures(softer) and brake lever to bar position. hth

6-8hrs I would say,Punctures, Beer and mORE beer always slow things down a bit, boshing a dual ply on the back is a good idea.

The start of the Honister pass off road climb is just out of seatoller, before the road gets steep, its on your right through a couple of huge gate posts, and joins the old route NW of the road, up honister pass as Boxelder says.

Starting from Stonethwaite Honister pass climb,Wharnscale Pass descent, Scarth Gap to Black sail Hut, Black sail Pass to Wasedale Head (for a pint) Wasedale Head to Styhead pass into Seath waite..Lots of carrying but with a good bike set up and the right weather a brilliant day out.

Its not a bad idea to start at Gatesgarth farm before scarth gap,(Buttermere) wharnscale is very unforgiving and i have seen plenty of mechanicals, shredded tyres and punctures on it over the years but a good one to end the day on,some good pubs and cafes in the village too 😉

Gavin Bs route is my preference, its a cracking day out..Nan Bield summit to Haweswater is a completely different kettle of fish but a very sketchy and fun descent if you have the skills, much harder in wet conditions too.

I have ridden the KTM one (de-restricted) and its amazing, I like the idea that disadvantaged people, or none cyclists can get out on the trails, great stuff

If its anything like a Hope Hub I normally use an alloy drift/punch but it needs to have a good edge on it and not blunt, Just place the punch inside and try to push the inner spacer over slightly at the same time, swap side occasionally and they should both bosh out no problem.

Are there any cir clips on the outer edges? check first, i think the switch hubs have rubber coated ones on the rears, but I’m not sure about the fronts. hth

Its very straight forwards, don’t think of them like a fox fork though, they are way ahead in terms of durability and build quality,I just change the oil occasionally, and strip completely once a year, superb bit of kit,the yellow compression adjuster on the lower leg is a press fit, that took a bit of working out.quite a lot of the washers spacers need to be fitted with shoulders or edges facing in a certain way so be careful when you remove them.

Just strip and place everything out in order, keeping things clean is vital,be careful not to loose the small ball bearing under the top cap,oil replacement and re bleeding can be tricky, backing all adjusters off before you start helps, don’t over tighten the allen bolt on the bottom right damper, theres an internal female nut that can get damaged if your not careful.,torque values are on the Marzochi site

The only problem i have had is finding a replacement heat shrink for the coil spring, too thick and it won’t work properly, too thin and it nocks annoyingly.grrr hTh

Interestingly i have just checked the IPF pressure on my mega using the online adapter (low) and its made a mahoosive difference to the feel of the shock, thanks for the advice above it inspired me to check it in the first place.

I had one on my nukeproof mega for a while, but for the kind of riding we do up here in the north lakes its either a slight pedal uphill, or a carry, so i can get away without.

On my commencal the reverb is great though and thats the bike i use for day rides mainly
