Been using one of these on the back all year Rich, very draggy but coped well on a recent four passes ride with two much better than me riders chasing me down the descents (think rat up a drain pipe) they both had punctures but none for me.

It must be an even harder record to beat given the A6 has so many more junctions and traffic lights than when it was originally set.

Red squirrel campsite (Glencoe) probably the most midge infested campsite I’ve ever been on, the best bit is the Clachaig pub a mile or so up the road well worth the friday night drive from the lakes

I have heard very good things about http://www.shapchippy.co.uk and people are driving from Penrith to eat there.. 😯 I prefer Scotts fish and chips on Sandgate if I’m eating in Penrith.

Yep done it lowey, although its very loose on the top section it drops onto a pitched path eventually, wether its a good descent depends on your ability really, best accessed from Honister mine, Moses trod. be careful when you do it though as its a busy walkers path for great gable.

I was thinking there might be some epic ride that people have done that might crop up here, I have done some riding in the Rothiemurcus (Cairngorm) areas including the Larig Ghru valley, all excellent riding.

FWIW the ASR button on centre of the dash will only disconnect temporeraly with one push, to disconnect it fully you need to press it for 10 seconds on position two of the ignition switch, to re activate press the button for 10 seconds again until you get an audible click.

I really feel your pain in this situation, and ended a job myself several years back after losing the support from my employers, The realisation that there is a big wide world out there with endless opportunities was far from my mind when i was suffering with this illness at that time.

Starting a new job is probably the last thing you want to do right now, but, I do think you need to reflect on your future and what you can offer another employer rather than dwell on existing bosses with (what sounds like) little real interest in your well-being.

    HTH, 😉 and healing vibes

Engine oil and fork oil are very different in terms of what they are intended to do, Fork oil has anti frothing properties unlike engine oil that is temperature sensitive and built around operating tolerances, also engine oil has some nasty chemicals in that (in theory) would break down rubber and plastic fork internals over time.

I would only use fork oil of the correct weight ( motorcycle oil should be ok )

Up Helvellyn from Glennridding Keppel cove descending via nethermost pike, Birkside to Wythburn returning by the carry up the gill to grisedale tarn and Patterdale probably one of the best descents ever on “the big H”

It depends on how technical you want the ride really,Through the Langdales into the Rossett vally and up towards Esk Hause, Styhead, Seathwaite, Borrowdale is the classic locals route, Green up edge is much harder with a very difficult section at Linning Cragg, the descent into Langstrath variess after wet weather but is very exposed over the summit and Boggy.

Stakes pass into Langstrath has been trashed by the Sanitisers but is excellent North to South into Rossett

I really hope this works out for Ben,you can tell he has a passion for this, but the whole project is going need some serious backing, and area/ facility good enough to sway riders from nearby Whinllater or the Lake-district, when they are both ridden free of charge, or am i missing the point?

Skiddaw is possibly the worst carry ,push, ride from Laterig i can think of in the lakes, but it has by far the best ridge line descent in the uk namely ullock ridge (well i think so anyway) best done on a evening really, but mid week should be ok, just be uber polite to the walkers as its a footpath. i think much of the ice and snow has gone. This is not easy riding though and its not categorised as everyones cup of tea, ,theres only a hand full of the local night riding scene ever cleaned it,enjoy if you love fast techy riding its awesome.

Id say go for it, the usual wet bits east of Skiddaw house will be frozen, so the only real hazard will be patches of ice its a great route and is best when its dry or frozen up. There is a lot of snow higher up but in the valleys you should be ok. enjoy

Its probably the best all round wet weather route in the lakes,In winter, I would recommend starting at Grange Hamlet, do the terrace first and then your legs are warmed up for the Watendlath climb, finishing on the Castle crag descent means your in the best parking place should you get mechanicals or need to bale out for any reason. dual plys recommended, armour and a full bouncer is ideal. Good little cafe in Grange too, enjoy its short but a cracker.

Try draining the fuel out of the fuel filter, any water contamination can cause starting problems, its a small white knob that you turn anticlockwise, worked a treat on my old vw t4 transporter. hth

Tight clean battery terminals, a good chassis earth, starter motor connections, and heater plugs would be my next check

I was quoted over £1000 to change a front wheel bearing on a Vito Sport van last week, managed it myself for about £500 but still crazy expensive.grrrrrr

Sticks pass and seldom seen is awesome as grum says, just follow the path and stay on the natural line of the trail through the woods your getting a much better value descent that ends near the lake shore, about a quarter mile before the road theres a short hike up a steep banking (on your right) that offers a really good bit of single track ending nearer to Glenridding. easily one of the best descents in the lakes.
