Mboy, keep believing it will get better and enjoy the simple pleasures that life presents each day if you look for them.

Like others have said tell us a bit more about your business, you never know what ideas the STW hive mind will come up with.

I’m about to start a similar project on my old Orange Gringo (2006). My plan is to swap the forks for rigid, while I’m doing that I’m going to replace the headset, stem and bars. Upgrade to disc brakes. Then in the coming months change the drivetrain. I don’t really need the bike, but I fancy a bike that will be fun to ride and that I can use around town and on the canal tow paths.

I think it’s worth doing and the project will be rewarding as you get to do the work yourself.

There is plenty of parking in the residential streets up past the cinema. It may take you a while to find spaces but there will be some. Make sure you fold in the wing mirrors as those streets are narrow and get full of cars.

Very sad. It’s a lovely city. I had a fantastic few days there a couple of years ago.

I get a few hire cars for work. Most are ok, some are truely awful (Fiat 500L). I recently had an Astra 2l diesel. It had enough power to scare my colleague when I was driving on some lake district B-roads.

It’s wrong and is a sign of very sad times that people are being killed by police. There seems to be a lot wrong with the system in the USA.

I’m not defending the killings. But, perhaps the police officers readily draw their guns because there is a high possibility that the person they are trying to stop will also have a gun (legally). Maybe their mindset is that it’s “him or me”.

We don’t have the same problem here because very few people have access to a gun and even fewer carry a gun on the streets.

As maccruiskeen pointed out, it’s a big country with a lot of police people doing their jobs without anyone getting shot. We hear about the small number of incidents that don’t go to plan and it’s right that there is coverage of these killings.

If the Americans changed their mindset about guns and gun ownership it might help to reduce the number of similar incidents.

The mrs did it to her thumb snowboarding a few years ago. It was 6 weeks in a cast then some strength exercises to get it back to normal. She used a climbing grip training thing to build up the strength.

A few weeks after her cast came off she was back to normal.

The Dr said it would be a quicker recovery than if it had just been tendon damage.

I’ve got the tour horn as my text alert.

It’s good fun when it goes off while I’m out riding.

I went to see a house on Friday afternoon, when I explained that I liked it, but would wait a few days at least to make a decision the agent seems confused. Even after explaining it was a result of the brexit result he still didn’t seem to understand. So, we’re putting our house hunting on hold for a while. Not going to bother looking at anything else for a few weeks to let the initial storm settle and see if anything becomes clearer about what the future might hold and how house prices will be impacted.

Flaperon, I agree when we bought our first house in 2007 the estate agent mortgage advisor told us we’d be lucky to get a mortgage even with our deposit. We went to a couple of banks and a building society who told us we could have almost double the amount we needed. The guy was clueless and very patronising, we where in our early twenties with good jobs and savings, but he spoke to us like we where 10 years old, stupid and wasting everyone’s time. Safe to say we’d never go back to them and when we come to sell our property we won’t be using that agency.

Do both is a great shout.

I’d be tempted to hire a bike from one of the town bike shops in Keswick or Ambleside and do some of the natural trails. The lakes has so much to offer.

Better still, stay on for a few days after work and do both trail centres and some natural stuff.

Grizedale is ok. There is a bike shop that hires bikes (probably better to try a demo bike as they’re better than the hire fleet) and the cafe isn’t too bad. Be aware that it might be busy with kids and families during August.

Whinlatter is only 45-60mins away and has a better selection of trails from the bike shop (Cyclewise). Cyclewise also hire bikes and have a selection of demo bikes that are a better spec.

If I was you I’d head to Whinlatter.

I have some of the wiggle basics bib tights. They’re not fleece lined, I’ve not used them since the weather got warmer so I can’t comment on how they would be in the summer. The pad isn’t the thickest but they were comfortable for all my long rides (up to 80 miles on the road).

When we bought our current house it was the vendor that did the viewing, very relaxed and told us loads of stuff before we asked.

Congratulations! You got in before they close the gates. You clearly have no intention to work and I bet you’ve already got a free house, been to a free dentist and have been signed up for all the benefits going.

That’s my pain with the whole process. Todays viewing wasn’t a complete waste of time but we’ll not be putting in an offer. Again the estate agent didn’t know if it had an alarm. The best part of the viewing was when I asked the estate agent how much it was on the market for, she didn’t know! Following some shuffling of papers and looking at the details of a different house she went back inside to ask the vendor. I bet the vendor feels like she’s getting value for money from her estate agent.

How hard can it be for the estate agent to spend a little bit of time before the viewing to remind themselves of some of the basics about the property. It’s not like my questions were difficult, I asked how much the house will cost!

Hey ho, another viewing booked for Friday.

Give it 12 months and Boris will be in the running for the Tory leadership (and by default the new PM!). If we remain I don’t think he has a chance but 12 months is enough time for people to forget the rubbish he has spouted during this campaign and enough time for him to go back to “loveable Boris” the peoples Tory.

I hope they put the blindfold lego walking on TV. It could lead to a whole series of other tw*ts being made to do the walk.

I’ve read a few articles that would suggest we’d have an election if we vote to leave. Mostly because the tory party is so divided on brexit.

Thanks pimpmaster. It was what I was thinking and any viewers can see the car on the drive. As it won’t sell for lots of money I’d be wanting cash on collection.

It is an MX5 (Monaco special edition). I’ll have a go with ebay.

Any scams I should be aware of. I’ve never sold a car privately before.

I though someone better start the andriod v iphone debate.

I’ve had iphones since the 4, because I like them and it works for me. I don’t really care what people use, but I do enjoy winding up friends who are anti-apple.

Being serious an app for the forum would be good, even if it was only available to “P” members.

We’ve not been for a couple of years but Palma is on the list for a few lazy days in September. The city is small with some good bars and restaurants if you avoid the tourist trap rubbish.
