Mine keeps doing this at Home PC FF3 – yet at work, Mac FF3 it's fine. Will try the above guys, cheers!

Wow, mine's arrived already! Nice one Leisure Lakes! I had a parcel turn up at work and I couldn't figure out what it was, only expecting a Macbook and some tees at the moment – it just seemed too early to be the seatpost already esp as it was listed as coming soon!

Ok, out of the box, it's heavy, let's not pretend otherwise!

Looks – not bad actually, remains to be seen how it looks on the bike but it's a country mile better looking the the GD posts and it's fairly discreet (red handle aside).

I have no idea what the action is like purely because there's now way I could compress it on arm strength alone anyway!

Sadly all my bikes are dead right now awaiting some part or another but will feed back and include pics once I finally get it fitted! AT this rate it'll be going on the singlespeed first as the Five needs a new bearing kit…

Both my bikes are 27.2 so I might stick a spare saddle on it and a) swap it between bikes and b) save it for nice days as it’ll no doubt keel over in one wet ride like most do…

As votchy although Stick-E Blue Groove on the front.

Haven’t actually ran a Nev for awhile out back due to my twisted love affair with the small block 8…

Oh, I got 8/10 on the helvetica/arial test – seeing as I’m a designer I’m relieved I didn’t’ fair any worse than that otherwise I might have to rethink my career choice LOL – it was the all caps that caught me out…

    Lose the type.
    Make it much smaller.
Go for a more vectorized outline style.

I’ve got an ’09 Genesis iO – it was too good to stay rigid though and I had a set of Fox Floats kicking about so on they went – those cheap 520 Genesis frames are wicked fun!

The fact that my facebook page only seems to feature mostly photos of me doing said hobby, with just the occasional photo of me doing something that normal people consider to be social, tends to get the message across just fine…

Afan is now littered with warning signs on every slightly technical feature… Not sure if it’s coincidental but the signage is all new and everywhere and slightly over the top…

Isn’t Rowan Sorrell faster on his Five on the CC DH run than most people are on actual downhill bikes?

What about an AM Five? My mate went for an SE but specced bigger brakes and Fox 36s – almost as light as my Pro (I’m less flush than him!)

But ultimately, the goal is the same though? A more evenly exposed image, not directly possible by today’s cameras?

I turned to HDR/Tone mapping but found it difficult to get natural results – I found it a horrid tool to use (Photomatix). I actually got what I wanted by just manipulating raw files and some old school photoshopping…

In the right hands and used cleverly it’s a perfectly good technique to have in your toolbox. Like many techniques, including HDR and tone mapping, the Internet’s full of people abusing it. But that’s not to say it should be dismissed entirely, or that it’s wrong to piss around with it until you either find an appropriate use for it or get bored with it.

With regard to HDR and tonemapping, I find a better and more natural result can be achieved by just shooting raw and carefully manipulating that before bringing it into photoshop… the recovery, blacks and fill light sliders give you a fair amount of control and don’t result in that horrid flickr hdr pool esq eye burning look! Clearly you need a good shot out of the camera to work with though.

Hope pad changes are fairly easy but the pad life is unreal so it’s not like it’s a regular job! Couldn’t help but laugh on a Snowdonia riding holiday last summer with guys going through pads in the wet snowdon grit in just two days, I was running nearly year old organic hopes at the time and I’ve only just replaced them another year on…

(And yes smart arses, I do ride a lot thanks)

I don’t find power an issue on the Hopes but then I’m only 12st kitted up so I’m probably not in a position to discuss brake power – even the bottom of the range, not even deore Shimano OEMS on my singlespeed feel powerful lol

Unfortunately it’s like HDR in that it’s wicked the first 2 times you do it and then you just feel a bit hollow and bored with it…

I was looking at the Orange and was told it’s quite ‘light’ – i.e. not built for a good pounding… I think the Duster is quite a bit more hardcore…

    What are you after?

The Prestige is sexy as – interesting that there’s a few about still! 😀 *strokes chin*

Went rigid through the winter (got a new SS), it has improved my riding no end, it was only fun in a novel kind of way but didn’t last and since putting suss on it, I’ve had more fun…

Kept the rigid fork, probably pop it back for the winter.

Think of your commute like this…

You’ve essentially been training to ride really fast for 50mins.

I reckon you’ve got so fit over an hours riding that when you tail off it’s more pronounced…

I do remember seeing that this required about 40nm in the manual though…

Question, on descents I keep resting my right heel on the front of the swingarm. Not a biggy but why do I do that? Anyone else?

Nope, tend to drop my heels when descending and push forward through the pedals…

In the longer term – if they can stiffen up the ST4 a little (it’s not overly flexy, I’m just talking compared to the Five) I wouldn’t be completely surprised if they dropped a bomb along the lines of a ST5.5 in a few years time.

That said, the ST4 works because of it’s geometry and I don’t think that geometry (well, the BB height mainly) would work well with more travel so I’m probably way off.

Yeah, cant see the Five going – commercial suicide surely if they ditched it, the ultimate if it ain’t broke bike? (Along with Heckler and Superlight I guess)

The whole time it keeps embarrassing more modern and sophisticated bikes, I really don’t see it going anywhere.

That said, I didn’t think the Patriot would go so suddenly so what do I know? LOL

FOr some reaosn I really love that Chavbred commuter! (I don’t mean that in an insulting way, I’m just oddly drawn to it given that it’s meant to be undesirable to thieves! lol)

I went down to 40mm on my Five – it was like the steering response was hard wired to my brain! F*cking crap on the climbs so settled at 60mm. 😀

of course, it’s bound to be me because I don’t agree with the stw massive, sorry for asking a constructive question

Meh, I personally don’t think they’re as good as claimed, I’m luke warm about them at best.

I think there’s some truth in “how you ride relates to how you get on with a tyre” – I can go much faster and harder with a Kenda Blue Groove up front than just about any other tyre on the market – I’ve clearly just clicked with it and I now have a few in 2.1 and 2.35 sizes so I can run it on all bikes, it works most of the season for me (frankly if it’s so horrible that they won’t work, I’ll be at a trail centre anyway).

I must ride the fork hard because I can also run a Small Block 8 on the back for most of the year too and I find most other tyres on the front cause me to wash out… bad technique? Possibly, but the Blue Groove works and doesn’t seem to slow me down.

Bit of a bummer dude, I’ve never had this particular problem. I do get the honking noise after I’ve riding for a while which I’ve been told is the hose rubbing on the rubber bung on the swing arm, blob of grease sorts it but I’ve never been bothered enough to get round to it.

I only met Mr Poddy once, he bought one of our club t-shirts and popped round to collect – a very affable chap from what I could tell… 😕

I always assume these threads in question are somewhat unremarkable stories given a tweak for internet humour purposes…

I think most 5.5″ bikes have more in common with 6″ bikes than 5″ bikes – I consider my Five to have more in common with an Enduro than a Stumpy…

    GaryLake
    Free Member

Nearly every bike in here is 5.5″ not 6″ but I think a S-Works stumpy is pushing it completely bearing in mind the OP started us off with an Enduro…

Argh! 16th is the Brechfa Enduro and I’ve just registered without checking this thread… oh well!
