Foxy: assumed you were Surrey/Sussex way – we should probably catch up for a ride at some point! Exmoor would be a good halfway – not that I know any routes there mind.

I think 38 is a bout right actually.

I rode the top end one with Fox Floats and that was around 36.

Thank you GaryLake – someone who understands the business – are you in it yourself?

We recently had someone in wanting an eCommerce site that would dovetail with his Sage accounting system – design, build, hosting etc.

    He had £1k.

    We suggested an Ebay shop.

But if you have a sensible budget, we are small (four of us) and always at the end of the phone. Based in Yorkshire, but work with clients further afield than you (Morzine x6, Slovakia, New York)…

Yeah, I'm 10 years into my career in digital and am currently senior designer for a boutique agency in Bristol.

Don't assume that because you want just 2-3 pages it'll be any cheaper.

Most companies will be building on some kind of content management system (even if they don't actually give you access to it) so page count very rarely has any direct affect on price.

Cost will be driven by the design, and the initial cutup into HTML (web page code to normal folk)

Price then gets driven up depending on how bespoke and in depth the design gets on a per page basis and the subsequent extra development time.

But basically, a simple 1 page site won't really be any cheaper then a simple 2, 3 or 10 page.

You'll find someone who'll do it for £500 – it will be ropey though. From £2k – £3k for someone small but good.

Lovely bike and they ride well! RE the granny ring, They are surprisingly good climbers. I whipped past a couple of middle aged wheeze bags on ASRs and Top Fuels at an Afan Demo day.

However, from a design point of view, the upward kink in the top tube is bothering my somwewhat – I assume that it's to clear the shock at full travel? Ruins the lines of the bike a bit…

Mind you, coming from a Five owner I should probably STFU and move along 😀

Genesis Altitude 10 at £999 is close in spec to the top end Kona at £1200 at first glance. So unless "Kona Chromoly" happens to actually be 853 – looks like a tough sell at that price.

The Pearl Izumi zip feels pretty tough and they have a lifetime warranty.

I think the cuffs are going to be an issue like with most winter boots though – I've not been out in an epic downpour yet – just geenral trail spray.

Neoprene gaiters look the business! I think I might even have some old wetsuit boots I can cut the feet off of and use!

Pearl Izumi Barrier GTX here. Bit bling and expensive but OMG, they're like MTB slippers in terms of comfort and warmth! Go up a size though. Very waterproof too but like all winter boots, hinges on your ability to keep the water out of the tops. But I generally hose them off after a ride with them still on and they are water tight for sure.

I'm actually not looking forward to the warmer weather because it'll mean not being able to wear them!

Did I mention the warmth? My circulation and cold feet issues are quite bad and these have been the answer!

My much unloved (by others, I love it) Fools Gold has been great. Not too far off stanchion colour so works with all fork colours. And in terms of wear – it stays new looking longer than all the other colours I've seen, and hasn't got a single chip in the paint despite my apparent desire to write the bike off in a crash on a regular basis.

    Very much for.

But as many have mentioned, getting the safe guards in place is the worry. Got to make things stringent enough to make sure people aren't offing relatives, but also don't want the process so drawn out that it almost defeats the point of being able to end your life when the quality of life issue has long gone.

I was always all about the downs and a shite climber. Problem is, if you're last or mid pack to the top, you're not first in line for the descent.

I set about getting quicker just so I could do my best to skin everyone on the ups (I'm by no means fast but you get what I mean) and get the uninterrupted first run on the descents I so craved.

As I got fitter and better, I started enjoying the climbing, but I also got faster going down. Particularly on the Afan-type stuff where a lot of the downs are quite flat and drawn out in places and require a lot of tempo and pedalling to get the most out of them. So it was kind of win-win…

If you're on a budget I'd go Air – if the spring's wrong for you in the coil you could be looking at a bit of cost and faff, esp if you can't do it yourself.

The bit that CFH is advising to skip on Penhydd is currently closed due to the conditions anyway so you're be forced to follow what he described as the diversion anyway. I take that diversion all year round though – you don't miss anything fun.

HT will be fine. Depending on your fitness levels you can do all sorts in two days there. For normal reasonable fitness I'd say do Whites and July (the half skyline, turn right when presented with the same signs pointing left AND right). The do the Wall and Penhydd the other day.

If you're super fit. I'd say do W2 starting at Glyncorrwg, taking in Penhydd on the way round. Then on day two do Skyline and Whites again if you've still got the guns left.

Just switched my sub to STW from WMB. I'd be done with WMB in an hour (and skipped very little either). STW lasts me a good week and a bit.

In case anyone is interested, it's mostly good on Whites, Wall and Penhydd.

Penhydd is a bit puddle strewn on sidewinder. And that pointless section before Hidden Valley is closed as usualy this time of year.

Wall, generally great, bit plastered after the final descent though.

Whites, all perfect except the exposed area on the Energy section which is a total cack fest.

OP: ignoring all the debat, I've experienced "understeer" (bars crossing up in turns and bike going straight on), for me it's usually tyre related.

Look for something quite sticky and without straight line gaps laterally across the tread. Think spaced out blocky treads.

I quite like Kenda Blue Groove 2.35 in Stick-E compound for what it's worth. Both my bikes have them on the front.

I did a 2 day REC with Kath at Active First Aid: http://www.activefirstaid.co.uk/html/home.html

Can't argue with being trained by a member of probably the busiest Mountain Rescue team in the country (Llanberis)!

Really good, to the point, practical and brutally honest as well. Deffo renewing mine with her even though I'm in Bristol!
