I've had some Elixirs on a test bike with the Ashima air rotors and they felt underpowered for Elixirs…

It would need a bit of bodge to take luggage I reckon. It's got the rack mounts but the disc brake is a complication…

    I'll email James at Genesis…

Zukemonster – the 2.4 Rubber Queens are pretty epic in size. If Cy had some fouling with the 2.4 Advans I'd expect the same from Rubber Queens.

Currently got one in on test – it's pretty fab – a bit wrong but so much fun. Though in all honesty it's way too heavy to be a road bike at 25.5lbs. Unless you want to genuinely mix it up and go off the beaten track a little get a road bike.

I've been tagging along on club MTB rides on it though and it's proper fun if a little brutal!

Trout, converting Pro2s is a doddle. Had to do some Crank Brothers Cobalts (to 15QR) the other day and in the process of trying to mallet bearings out and pop new axles through – really appreciated how easy the Pro2s were!

Cable/hose length aside, that looks really tidy and nice!

IMO you answered your own question here:

The Fritzz felt more planted and plush, but the Orange was so much fun and a bit more lively.

A Diamond Back Ascent bougth out of the paper for £50. It was a stupidly massive 18" frame I was only 12, I had to stop next to a curb or steep bank if I wanted to get on or off the thing. And I'm pretty sure I had some serious hyper extension going on in the leg area just to reach the pedals.

I remember having many non-stop rides due to it not being unlike trying to get on a penny farthing and stopping was too much effort!

Still, after learning my trade on that poor fitting clunker I did alright after that!

OMG, it was one of these!

SeanOrange – comparing DTC to Stick-E has more of an effect than the two different tread patterns…

When you ride from Goodridge to Street – do you know yet what road you'll be taking around or through Bristol? I can ride from Bristol to Street with you if it's welcomed.

Punch in the throat – that's brilliant! If he'd not backed off and just took it in the face he'd have probably been able to carry on his assault. But instead you've floored him in one go and probably not messed your hand up in the process.

    Get that man a medal!

It's deffo not an ST4 replacement as that fork is clearly 140mm. So unless they're going 140/120 or something perhaps to site between the blood and the ST4. I fully expect the Five to be about but in the guise of that MBR special with the bigger seattube and tapered head tube.

I expect Dave Flynn is reading and will leave us to wild speculation. Dave has been riding the above bike in a lot of variations and colours so they're clearly putting a lot of work into whatever it eventually is.

    Don't WTFU…

I came back from Holiday with a Gastric Flu bug, wiped me out for a few days. Tried to MTFU coming out of it and ended up with Viral induced Pericarditis and Myocarditis – basically swelling and inflammation around the heart presenting itself with heart attack like symptoms and responsible for 20% of sudden death cases in young people – epic!

One ambulance ride, more xrays/ECGs/scans than I can remember, a few nights in hospital, a lot of powerful pain killers, 2 weeks stuck at home later – I'm only just almost better. I'm only 27 and never been ill in my life.

So yeah, WTFU might not be the best approach if you're body is crying out for a break!

Just out of interest, why does it matter to you if the frame is made in SA or not?

Again, it's very debatable whether it matters or not in the end. But if you take Orange, there's something kind of cool about the fact that they just weld a bike up one afternoon and take it for a spin to see how it goes. It might not be the ideal way of doing things these days but they resisted the temptation to sell out on the back of Peaty's success, they carry on doing it their way, there's no doubt the end result is good – it's admirable and fun if nothing else!

I'd have said SMB8 but I've got a feeling the Maxxis is tougher… I'd also wager the Schwalbes will be more delicate too.

If you love the Crossmark, give it another punt and hope it was just bad luck. Sometimes it just happens – I've gone two years on Kendas without a single tear and then ripped 3 in one month! But been fine since so go figure!

I'm amazed your FS's, 5's etc mentioned don't get nicked when you leave them.

Drag it up into the office innit!

Often commute on my Five, I go past a lot of trails so if it's nice I'll take a cheeky xc commute and take in some of the mini DH lines.
