    There's At-Bristol and the Aquarium.

Otherwise plenty of good ideas here. SS Great Britain was surprisingly good when I finally went after 20-something years of assuming it would be shit.

Propedal off all the time on a Five. I hate propedal, makes every bike I get on feel fidgity and nervous…

It is a lot of money but my '08 one has been such a little star and reliable as, that I reckon they're easily worth the initial outlay.

That said, in '08, my pro was only about £2200! Positively bargainous by today's standards now!

I always found it easier to bunnyhop a FS

You may be running your rebound a little bit too quick then IMO…

Again, living with the woods on your doorstep and actually being able to commute via them helps a lot 🙂

Cheers for the link flatfishy, nice not to have to trek into Bristol!

I did only look at the CX sport one mind… rest are a little more reasonable.

Probably also worth pointing out that Mrs Lake is only a fraction shorter than me 😳

Just don't spend too much time fretting about it – it really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things

I have been charged with this task and this task alone, don't take that away from me 😉

Ok, thinking of ditching the pram and doing sling, chair and car seat.

That Baby Jogger looks great but we both like the idea of having the option to face baby if we want to. A most likely contentious topic so let's not go there today 😀

Cheers again guys! I'm only 5'8" and we have a C-Max so all good on that front.

Interesting about the mixed views on the pram attachments and getting separate car seats…

Not a total yummy mummy, just want to make sure it's good enough quality as it will see a lot of offroading where we live.

We have managed to acquire a Baby Bjorn harness which is good.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I think I'm going to get that Which trial as well.

I think we'll go new because parents and grandparents will be desperate for stuff to buy no doubt 🙂

Word from Madison is that there is no actual plan in place to discontinue 9 speed at the moment so expect it to remain fairly current for a few years yet.

The Five is actually a brillaint climber as soon as it gets really techy, the back end grips like spiderman!

If the climbing is fairly mundane it's more than acceptable at climbing, I think what the MBR guy is saying is that it's not bad, you just don't sing and dance about it.

It's always feels like it was worth taking the Five out when you point even slightly downhill. Nothing seems to carry and pick up speed in the same way IMO.

Winter and can't be arsed to ride but know I should = road bike.

    Otherwise MTB

Full outer, cables routed in an almost straight line from shifter to mech. Cheapo generic stuff is fine, esp if you use SRAM, if you're on Shimano splash out on an XTR inner.

What are you hoping to gain from it?

If it's, they look nice or, I want different length width, rise sweep etc, then yes.

If it's save weight, or make bike magically faster, then no.

Never really had one but I got told the other day I look like Tyler Farrar, not sure I'm all that pleased about that…

Testing the full set (bar, post, stem and grips) at the moment. Build quality is nice, it's not all that heavy considering the price is reasonable, graphics are a bit marmite. The 710mm bars are lovely!

Twin bolt Thomson esq clamp works nicely.

renton: have you checked my suggestion? I only ask because I'm talking about the same car which I still own which had the same symptoms.

I think Lewis has actually shown much improved race craft this season, and even seemingly managing his tyres better than "smooth" Button.

Can't imagine how dominant he'd be if they hit the ground running with the car like in '07/'08 again…

Yeah, Hamilton was in the wrong but was punished to letter of the law, Alonso was just too slow to make anything of it.

Hamilton wasn't going to bow down to Alonsos when he was a rookie, he certainly isn't now!

I know it's not wide but I second the 50 f1.8, for the money you'd be mad not to and I use mine so much!

Also got the Canon EFS 10-22…

Mine did that and it was a cracked intercooler pipe.

Just ordered some presciption lenses for some existing Half Jacket XLJs, £165 for clear.

Really wanted vented Jaw Bones but already had a fairly new half jacket frame.

I must admit the disappointment when you a pub serves you a casserole with a pastry lid is sometimes a little hard to disguise.

Or get 10 speed XT when it comes out, more gears = faster doesn't it?

    GaryLake
    Free Member

    No not really.

Maybe the shifters but the rest will all shift just as poorly 20 miles into a desperately muddy wet ride.

And a well maintained and serviced Deore works better than a slightly less well maintained XT.

Changing to X9 rear shifter and mech and 100% cable outer does give serious mud proofing though.

I've never ridden at GT but if I regularly ride W2 at Afan without stopping, occasionally singlespeed, I can assume 6 right?

For all round I'd just go Advan front and rear mate. I personally don't get on with them even in the much softer compounds but I know plenty of riders who class them as the ultimate allrounder…
