I have it on my matt frame and you can notice it up close but I’m personally not bothered but I guess it’s personal choice 🙂

I’ve trained in many diciplins and run a kick boxing club for a short while and one major observation I’ve noticed over recent years is that a lot of clubs want to do MMA which again in my regional experience means the tutor is a jack of all trades master of none (some exceptions obviously).

I’d stick with a true boxing club or a traditional martial art as they tend to not have kids and adults with huge ego but simple respect for the art.

Go for it I’ve seen it change lives and families.

Just because the odd person may care I’ve re weighed it and it is in fact 30.08Lb with pedals (now on flats) so the 30.4Lb would have been right.

It’s a lovely bike and have been to CYB and have a Cwm uplift day booked and so far I wouldn’t change a thing.

Just beaten to it lol but basicly check L8 as it’s not always doom and gloom 🙂

I work for a water treatment company supplying Legionella control equipment and services (I sound like I’m trying to sell ha ha).

The HSE ACOP L8 is what needs to be considered by building designers and owners pre and post build for preventitive and remedial actions and will include risk assesments and details of mandatory testing and checks that are carried out.

I can assure you it is a LARGE can of worms and opinion on a public forum will just send you crazy, it does me and I live it daily!

If your friend is concerned go to the HSE website, search and download the above mentioned document and ask him or her to have a read – it is a pretty friendly document to waste some time reading.

    Enjoy!

This does not have everything on it but the more popular sections, I found it via Google some time ago.

On average I give a printed out version of this to one lost sole per ride 🙂

Some good stuff said here…… The weight is on the build card as that, I’ll get it weighed in front of me but honestly it really does feel as light as they say, or it could be because I’m running the wheels tubless 😆

The forks are a red herring really as they will be reduced to 160mm but I didn’t want to wait for stock to come in, the purpose behind this bike is a future proofed do it all build.

I think I mentioned the SLX was carry over from last bike and the XT rear mech is tempory so it will be full XTR which is more suited for a higher spec build.

As for the brakes, jesus after one ride I don’t care how heavy they are – they are wicked!

At the end of the day it’s got everything I want on it and it rides very well. I’ve had to add a longer stem and lower it too but so far I’m glad I wasted my bonus on it 😀

The cranks were from my last build and are fine for now but your right, when new XTR cranks and rear mech available I will be getting them anyway.

Ref forks – sore subject. I couldn’t get 160mm due to model year change over and wanted the bike built now so not to miss the best summer months of riding… as for weight there is only a few hundred grams in it really so fair point but I’m pretty happy with what I have for now.

    Thanks for the fix!

In truth I didn’t want the red but got the wheels a few weeks before I decided on the build so they had to do 🙂

I use a Gravity Dropper Turbo of the up or down two position type and it’s ugly compared to others but I LOVE it! It’s mechanical and easily cleaned and serviced and if you watch your southern regions I love the way it shoots up quickly but I have once caught the my crown jewels – eeak!

I’m spending a lot of money on a new bike and instead of buying a new post I’m going to shim it and use the GD, it just works for me and that’s all that counts.

I updated an old bike then decided to buy a new one thus meaning I wasted money on updating, thats me all over though!

It’s more money than you were looking to spend but if your local (ish) to Berkshire drop me an Email as I have a plan :0) If your miles away the plan would never work lol

    Cheers

I got one of these today

Even after a couple of hours on it I can see it will help with MTB skills, really glad I got it.

I run 1×9 on both of my bikes and switch between 32 / 34 / 36 up front depending where I’m riding and how fit I feel.

I find 32 spins out far too easily for me, 36 is a bit much for some places which means I’m changing gear a lot and losing my “flow” and 34 is about bang on for everything I do.

I ride a lot of Swinley, Cwym Carn, Aston Hill & Afan and all good for that :0)

My other half said I’d be crazy at 30 to get a BMX but with the opening of a sweet track only 2 miles from me and reading this tomorrow I will mostly be buying a BMX!

    Sweet!

I just cable tied mine to the gear cable outer that ran along my top tube, not the best looking but functions ok.

Hope that helps (a bit!) 🙂

This is my work horse, I’ve had it for a couple of years but didn’t ride it (hobbies changed etc) and now given a few tweeks there is nothing else on the market I would buy if I had the money, feels perfect 🙂

Probably for the best as I paid £1900 new for this and now they are thick end of £3k!

Well everyone is right the tyres are shocking but I may as well kill them before I replace them, I only started out needing a frame and was going to swop bits over from an old Scott I had but got carried away and now I have no £……oops!

Regarding chain length I wasn’t sure at all, is there a science or at least better way to guage what length it should be – I’m clueless to say the least.

As for the colour I would like to say it looks better in the flesh but no, it is what it is and she likes it and to be honest I do, this could be to do with the red bits swopping over to my other bike well should I “need to” 🙂

ha ha tyres, brakes, chain set and bars were the only bits I used from my old bike, pay day next week do not worry 🙂

I’ve just gone 11-32 rear and 22-36 front on an SLX Double and bash..

If I’m honest I am finding it hard to get used to the 36 up front, I think a 34 may be better suited to me as I find myself shifting between the 22 – 36 a lot and it really effects my flow.

I’m going to carry on but on my other bike I have single 32 up front and 11-32 cassette and I love it! Perfect for me and where I ride.

A single specific ring will help, but some form of chain retention will be a distinct advantage. A locked out front mech would be a cheap and perfectly functional option.

Super, I’ve got a few spare so will do for now!

Ah yea fair point yes, also forgot to consider chain so cheers 🙂

    I’ll be using a single specific ring @ 34T.
