People who think you need £Xm to secure an income for life clearly aren’t familiar with compound interest, investing and safe withdrawal rates.

I don’t think most people are taking it that seriously :)

    Probably buy a nicer commuter

You wouldn’t be commuting anymore :)

The thing is I don’t want to change my life, I’m very happy with it as it is. If I didn’t have to waste time going to work that’s pretty much the only thing that would make it any better.

Very surprised that people think they need £5m to get by for the rest of their lives!

My sons iPhone 5s did this last year, just consonantly reads ‘searching’, also wouldn’t do a software update.

Googled it and it’s a known issue, fix suggested heating up phone with a hardryer to reset chip. I was dubious about that but gave it a go, worked for about an hour.

Not sure if it’s worth getting fixed or not.

I’m 50, paying off our mortgage in two weeks time, wife took very early retirement last year and we have everything we need. I’ll be retiring at 55 so all I would really need is enough money to get me by until then.

We have saving etc so I don’t necessarily need to continue topping up my pension.

So say £2k a month, which would still allow me to save a bit, for the next 54 months, £108,000. That’ll do me.

    commute is 35 mins

Try doing it in 25, that’ll keep you warm. :)

Feel your pain on the cold hands warming up thing, it really is a horrible feeling and makes feel very sick and light headed too – I guess that’s the blood rushing into my hands to warm them up. Thankfully only -3 for me this morning and hands were warm with lobster mitts and Castelli Corridore Gloves underneath.

How far is your commute? Better hand warmers and making sure you’re putting on warm kit will help. Also make sure your wrists are kept warm, maybe an extra hand warmer that sits against your wrist.

    Were your feet warm?

Pretty grim but can’t really see how it would affect your business to be honest. Unless you run a crèche from home….

Well, the thing is that he is eating them because he is hungry,

Is he hungry though, or does he just think he’s hungry? I’d suggest it’s just habit, does exercise, feels dizzy as that’s what always happens, etas chocolate, stops feeling ‘dizzy’, magic chocolate has worked.

The whole thing is just a habit that can be stopped with a bit of rational thought and determination.

Oh and fasted riding works well for me which I usually do around March to get rid of the last remaining winter bulk.

Really sorry to hear about your mum, hope you and your family are okay.

We’ve been through this recently although much simpler than your case – one house, some cash and split between two.

We did probate ourselves which was quite daunting but once you start it’s okay.

One thing to remember is that is that if your mums partner has also passed away and didn’t use any of the inheritance tax allowance you can use ‘doubling up’, where you can double the allowance when clearing up this estate.

Simple put assuming its just nine of you involved then everyone gets a ninth and if the wanted to stay where they are they would need to pay the value of the property back into the pot – so they buy the property but still get a ninth of the estate.

I use tennis balls and a foam roller to ‘release’ tight spots on my hips, works well for me.

Had a load of physio sessions last year due to severe stiffness in my hips and back. I thought Myofascial Release was pulling the skin to release tension on the myofascial tissue? I had it done and the burning sensation is very odd.

Are these older lights so you’ve gone direct to Exposure rather than lights still under warranty where you normally need to go back to the place of purchase?

I bought mine in October 2016, remote went a bit temperamental in December ’16 so I just emailed exposure and they sent me a new one.

I need to shift at least 5KG (preferably 7) to get back to a reasonable weight.

same here, I was 75.5kg after the festive excess so need to lose around 6kg. Lost 1kg over the past week but should lose more with no alcohol over the next 2 weeks, and eating breakfast/lunch/dinner with no snacking in between.

I dropped my strada on the concrete floor in the bike shed last year, light then wouldn’t work. Contacted exposure to explain what happened, the said send it back, they repaired free of charge, battery came lose, and didn’t charge for return postage.

Remote switch also stopped working, replacemnt delivered the next day.

Great products and a after sales great service.

I wouldn’t have thought so, how would the insurance company ever know you’d had a repair done.

I’m pretty sure you can fix scrapes on your car without telling anyone.

Has the school offered to pay?

Yes, but in typical middle class fashion we’re umming and ahhing about taking money from a poverty stricken state school.

Ah so it’s a moral dilemma, could have told us that at the start.

Clearly if you’re prepared to refuse the schools payment which option you choose will be depend on how much excess you pay on your insurance. If it’s £500 for example then paying out your own pocket might be the best option.

I’d be taking the money off the school, surely they have insurance to cover such things.

There’s no doubt who did it or when, there were adult witnesses.

Erm should that person not be paying then?

Why would the school be liable, surely parking is at owners risk?

Not getting at you at all, just wondering if there’s info missing.

But as above chips away type guy should sort it. Edit after new info.

I’ve been having a look at turbo trainers over the last week and unless I’m mistaken the Elite Turbo Muin doesn’t allow training apps to change the resistance. Is that right?

We’ve camped at this site[/url] loads. It’s in Boot in the Eskdale valley at the bottom of hardknott pass. Used to be a camping and caravan club site but now a private site.

Lovely location, great site and 3 fantastic pubs within walking distance.

As I said I’m cutting down, rather than cutting it out altogether. I was away at the weekend so walked down to the pub Friday night for a couple of pints, went for a long walk Saturday and popped into the pub for a pint and had a couple of gins last night. Won’t have anything the rest of the week and my wifes away skiing next week so should be off it for nearly two weeks.

Rapha usually, although years ago I used to pay almost full price. Now I know they have biannual sales on and discount codes every few months then why pay full price.

Those of you worried about my colleagues and/or hair (WTF?) really do not need to worry, thanks though

I don’t think anyone is worried about your colleagues, why would we be? But riding 13 miles then wearing the sames clothes, means that without a wash, you will be a bit smelly. You might not notice or care though. If you wear a helmet your hair will also smell a bit.

Also if the road is in the slightest bit damp then even with full guards you will get some spray on your trousers.

My personal phone is an iPhone and work phone is android. Some big samsung thing, I hate it with a passion. It’s just so clunky with stupid things constantly flashing up on the screen. Yes I’m sure they could be disabled but the settings options are so confusing I haven’t bothered.

Why would they have different reasons? They would both use it to repair their bike? It’s not me being prejudiced.

I don’t know, it’s your scenario, you’re trying to depict a scene of injustice, not me.

Or maybe they grew up in a deprived area where police abusing their powers was rife.

Desperate attempt to get dig in at the police there.

A middle class middle aged person out in the country side likely wouldn’t be arrested. A young kid riding about in their local council scheme, park or woods is another story.

Obviously, because clearly the reasons for carrying said knife are entirely different. Are you too blind and prejudiced to see that?

    Anyone else had anything similar

Yep I’ve had it for about four weeks now. Had the start of a cold four weeks ago, went away within a day as they normally do, lost my voice a couple of days later then had a week where I felt rubbish. Started to get a bit better then cold came back last Saturday, still a bit chocked up but it’s on it’s way out hopefully.

First time I’ve had the lurgi for years.

I have a lock knife in my walking rucksack. I’ve used it a couple of times, cutting a bit of rope for something and some other reason. I have zero reason to worry about carrying it as the chance of me being stopped and searched on a hill walk must be fairly remote.

    Or losing them :)

As above if you’re thinking of wearing a baselayer and a shirt then that’s going to make you sweat more, the base layer will transfer sweat away from your skin so the shirt will get damp.

I wouldn’t ride 13 miles to work without having a wash though. If you wear a helmet your hair will be a bit stinky anyway.

I’d carry a shirt, or leave them at the office, and definitely have a wash on arrival.

They have to be taken to a special place.

Like a phone heaven (or hell for that nokia)? I have people to do that special place thing anyway.

Stuff goes in a bin, the stuff that’s in the bin gets recycled. Our refuse from the office is sent to a recycling plant.

Do you not put your recycling in a bin? Do you specifically say ‘I put it in the recycling’ so everyone knows you’re environmentally conscious and it makes you feel warm inside :)

That’s the same model of nokia I threw in the bin earlier funnily enough.

So the elemnt bolt I bought was delivered yesterday. Had a play about with it last night and it’s bloody brilliant. The ability to set up pages using the app is a massive improvement on a garmin.

I have an issue with the 60 strava premium offer though as after going through the process I’ve been charged for a years membership. I’ve emailed strava support and I’m waiting on a response.

Hold on I tidied out my office drawers this morning and threw out what I thought was my old work phone, just realised it might have been yours.

I was going to put it back tonight when I was ‘visiting’….

that did not happen at all in NYC.

It might not with us, likely the child will want some tv time though :)
