Favouring the Talon 22 after your comments. I looked at the Gourdon when I was in Ambleside last week (I have loads of Alpkit stuff)

Did you have a look at rucksacks in Biketreks while you were there. We stayed in the lakes in november and got a couple of vaude day packs in the sale. Really good wee bags, waterproof cover, enough pocks, pockets on waist strap. Had a look and they still have some on sale but not the ones we bought.

I used to do them much the same as the op but didn’t add extra sugar, plus used mixed nuts and dried fruits and added honey too.

Also covered them in melted chocolate. Stopped making them as they had about a million calories each. Always enjoyed making them though so might start again.

I hang them so it’s obvious which are short, 3/4 or full length.

I have a space in the drawer for short and another space for 3/4. I don’t do full length bibs as I hate having my legs fully covered when I’m on the bike.

Why do you need to hand them up, I just put mine in a drawer. The only time they go on a hanger is when they’re drying – and they just go on anormal wooden hanger.

Fish as well, but best using Ling

    Harsh but probably fair.

Stick some liquid smoke in your slow cooked chilli beef too.

Yeh it’s very easy to get a bus or taxi at the airport. But car hire for a week will only be about £70, if that. Assuming you can drive.

Pre-booked airport transfers are generally a rip off.

Rapha hardshell is the best waterproof jacket I’ve owned, keeps out hours of torrential rain. Think rapha have them in their sale at the moment.

If the internet was restricted to things people need to know

I’m talking real people, not made up characters on a bike forum.

Its not a question you’re really going to get an honest answer for. To do so would mean everyone that thinks they have healthy assets declaring what they have, that’s never going to happen.

I would never divulge on an internet forum how much money I have in the bank/investments or what my assets are worth, I’d discuss with very close friends only, but only if it was brought up for a reason – discussing investments for example.

It’s not something people need to know.

It makes you sound middle ages at best

    Gary_M

Jeepers were you all born middleaged?

I’m 50, that’s past middle aged. I don’t need to pretend I’m young anymore and I like comfort.

And someone saying ‘jeepers’ whilst castigating people for wearing sippers is a bit off. We you born pretending to be an american?

    This does sound pretty dodgy.

forgot to say there was a vodaphone sim in the package.

And is your current sim only ‘contract’ with vodafone?

Harris Tweed slippers, barefoot if sitting around

In winter I’ll just wear shoes

Why would you want to keep shoes on in the house?

I’d want to know who sent me that and whu. Although I don’t know if the courier company would be able to give you any info, data protection and all that.

I’m no car expert, but is it really possible to drive to morzine on one tank of diesel

I guess it depends where you live, how much fuel your vehicle takes and how many mpg it does. I guessed the chap lives about 500 miles from morzine if he can do it on one tank in the average car. He also doesn’t stop for a pish which is even more impressive.

Will I be able drive to morzine on a single charge like I can on a tank of diesel? Thought not. Im out.

Does getting there without stopping really matter that much?

So I guess you must drive about 500 miles, so you’ll need to stop once to recharge the vehicle, hardly a big deal.

Do you not stop for a pee in your ‘non-stop very important trips’ to morzine?

I’ve been to the Birchtree for lunch and it’s nice, food was good. It was refurbished a couple of years ago so rooms should be fine. I used to think Dalbeattie town was a bit of a hole but t’s not, spending time there gives a different impression to just driving through. There’s a nice community feel to it.

I wouldn’t have any issues staying at the birchtree

    I’ll ignore your first response.

As for the costs of doing inventory etc – thats the landlords issue not the tenants and £156 is way over the top for that. an hours work for a minion in the office does not equal £156

Landlords pay the cost of the inventory at the start of the tenancy, if a tenant has then lived in the property it’s reasonable to expect them to pay it when they leave.

I thought you owned a property, or two, anyway, not rented?

What’s a check out fee? Do you mean money subtracted from your deposit to cover ‘damage’?

I’m a landlord and never heard of a checkout fee, although I use an agent.

:) If I ever get back on the A77 Iain, the ice is holding me back a bit! Set off yesterday morning and ended up heading home for the car as was sheet ice once I reached Fenwick.

You ride down the road first, then onto a fire road, then join the red trail halfway along its route

I never had any success in finding this route in so usually rode in from Colvend whenever I stayed at Sandyhills. I’ll have a look at that option next time I do a big loop round the forest.

weekend no. 2 is looming, how we all getting on ?

I’m only a short termer, had last drink of alcohol on the 7th. Wife away skiing tomorrow and I need to drop her off at 6:30am so nothing tonight and won’t have any booze while she’s away.

I don’t drink much really but will be nice not to have a malt whiskey fug tomorrow morning :) Looking forward to a decent ride on the cx bike too. Also been very good in terms of snacking this week and had virtually nothing bar breakfast/lunch dinner and down to 74kg, should be down to 72 by the end of the month once I start riding properly again.

Can’t see the point of having a lawn right next to a major highway

Bearing in mind there isn’t a single car passing in any of the pics I wouldn’t say it was a ‘major highway’.

Having a nice front garden enhances the look of the house anyway, it’s not just about use.

    Good work OP

Still touchy about pulling out on someone then?

No, it was about 20 years ago.

As above it will go down as your fault OP as you were pulling out of a side road even if the car that was indicating left was driving like a plum.

As above, may not be the case.

I tend to drive in every two weeks usually, but shoes trousers etc are all in my locker.

Usually take in a load of shirts and underwear, clean towel when I drive in. If I don’t drive I’ll take a wee camelbak to carry a shirt, etc.

The more you can leave at work the better.

As above Kippford or Gorsebank are both great. You can ride straight onto the Dalbeattie trails from Gorsebank and the ‘wigwams’ are great.

Also have a look at Coastal Kippford Holiday park[/url], very nice lodges for hire, 30 seconds ride to the trails and a nice walk or ride through the woods down to the Anchor in Kippford.

Don’t know what Roughfirth House is like as a B&B but it does look a bit tired and I’ve not seen many cars parked outside and I’m down there a lot.

Rosemount Guesthouse in Kippford is also really nice. The anchor hotel has rooms but they’re also bit tired, clean enough but in need of some TLC.

I thought we were being asked what was life changing, not what we could get by on.

It was really a response to people saying they need £5m to be able to give up work

I had a window cleaner knock on the door last night, told him I already have a window cleaner. He was fine with it.

Other stuff happened since then but I haven’t bothered sharing.

The only reliable information an indicator tells you is that the bulb is working. You should always wait to see if someone is actually turning for exactly this reason.

Slips into the top 3 of most condescending posts for 2018. Is the OP 8 years old, don’t treat him like he is

This happened to me many years ago, claim was 50/50. Some on here may argue that that isn’t possible but speaking from experience that’s how it went for me.

    Gary_M

As said before it depends on your current situation. I certainly don’t need millions as apart from going to work life is just how I want it, about £100k would sort that.

I don’t need a bigger house, new cars or an income for life – I’ve already got investments and savings to cover that. I just need to stop going to ******* work :)
