Any decent commercial printers should be able to do it. Take an old race number into a printers and ask them.

I replaced a cheapo scart lead we had in the tv in the kitchen with an ‘expensive’ one as we were having a lot of problems with electrical interference, new scart lead solved the problem.

Do you mean there are 4, can’t think of a 4th one and I know I’ve only been to 3?

Dunno I only fill my diesel car up about once a month so I don’t pay attention to prices, and my wife fills the petrol one up since I don’t really use eaither car very often.

As above, it doesn’t equal 2 it’s rounded up to 2.

True DezB, going home should be fine as I have my ‘commuter’ style lights anyway. It’s just the bit across the moor that was dodgy in the dark and hopefully the fog will have lifted and I can use the helmet light.

My wife has my battery pack with her, I asked her to bring it as she usually passes me in the car on her way to work but she got stuck in traffic this morning. If anyone would like to pick it up for me from Hill Street in Glasgow and bring it to the south side I’d be very grateful ;)

Depends in the agency you’re using, only thing I needed was to join the Landlord Registration Scheme – but that’s in Scotland only afaik. The agent I used a few years ago required electrical safety certificate (portable appliance testing) carried out every 5 years but last agent didn’t bother. But I don’t have gas and have smoke alarms.

True about the mortgage – but thats if you tell the bank. But if you’re buying a second property its not easy to get out of telling them.

It’s too dangerous, I’ve been MTBing for 15 years with minor injuries

I’ve been riding on the road for 4 years with no injuries.

I don’t have many friends but the ones I do have are very good friends – friends for life. Sometimes I don’t see them for years but they’ll always be friends. The rest are just casual aquaintances that I can’t be bothered with. Who needs ‘baggage’ in their life?

Yep I’m in, have been for about 4 years now. Shortage of long local trails means my routes are a mix of road/off road so a cx bike made sense. The I enjoyed the road bits so much I bought a road bike. I really love it, out for a couple of hours means you can actually go a fair distance and see interesting countryside. I also commute on the road.

My commute this morning was quite interesting, 10 minutes into the ride and into proper darkness, go to switch on lights on the bars and realised I’ve left my battery at home. I’ve got a helmet light but its not got enough run time to get me in and home – used it on low beam but then the fog decended and helmet lights are nae use in the fog. So the 10 miles of proper dark bit was ridden with my cateye el530. Guess I’ll have to finnish at 4pm though to get home in mostly daylight.

20 miles each way and I do it 3-5 times a week, although it’s not very often I’m in the office for a full week so on average 3 times a week. The darkness is staring to get to me now, the first 2 months are fine but January is hard. Can’t wait untill mid March so I can get in to and home from work in daylight.

It’s January, really what do you expect? Turbo work is incredibly dull, can you find another way of riding – commuting, road bike, etc.

Also, my dad had a credit card in his name only (not attached to a joint account with my mum). Would this debt now be written off?

When my dad died he left about £800 on a card, I called the card company and they asked me to send in the death certificate and cancelled the debt.

My mum doesn’t get any benefits and she’s far from wealthy – gets by okay on I think half my dads pension but that’s it.

spend around £1600 on mortgage, school fees, etc and my sister and I pay my mums mortgage too. But that £1500 is between my wife and I who earns roughly the same as me. Save a bit and spend the rest on holidays, fun and no.1 son. New kitchen to be paid for tomorrow then we’re redoing the bathrooms.

Oh and my Rapha habit costs a bit ;)

Firsty surfer I’ve yet to see a post where someone earns ‘big bucks’ and secondly the title is clear – if a forum dweller doesn’t want to read what people earn then they don’t open the thread and don’t get all sensitive about it, simple.

Had a Bosch washer/dryer for the last 10 years and to be honest it’s never been that great, spin is poor, noisy and the tunble dryer is rubbish. I’ve had to to some repairs to it over the years – new brushes on the motor etc. At the moment it doesn’t spin very well, door needs banged shut several times to get it to start, been sticking with it till we get our new kitchen in 3 months then we’ll be glad to see the back of it. I wouldn’t buy another bosch.

Yes but its virtually insensitive IMO given other peoples situations.

I have a lot of sympathy for people who have been made redundant however the thread title is pretty clear. Do you think we should put a ban on ‘new bike’ posting until this recession is over, just incase it pushes someone over the edge.

virtually insensitive mm interesting use of words – it either is or it isn’t.

Referring to an earlier post that mentioned it’s no-ones business what an individual earns and it’s a taboo subject, it doesn’t bother me if ‘people’, and I use the term loosely since it’s a virtual world, on here know what I earn. I don’t know anyone on here so why on earth would it bother me if they know. I can understand that if I was friends with folks from here, but I’m not so it doesn’t matter. It’s all virtual i’nit.

maybe pk-ripper didn’t lock the brakes intentionally? I don’t like people riding on my rear whel either, pretty rude if you ask me. If I were you I’d just have stayed behind him rather than getting in front and not getting away from him cleanly.

Degree in Economics (maths, physics and bionics ;) ) after going back to uni in my mid 20’s. Earn just under £40k from employment. Plus some more as a fat cat landlord.

yep shelf stacker, whatever. Friend of mine has recently been made redundancy from the banking sector, he’s waiting for the right job to come up whilst he sits on his arse. I’ve told him it’ll end in tears.

BoardinBob I really think you’re getting a bit too hung up on the camping thing. It was a throwaway comment and it’s not really the point of the discussion. You’re right, I’m wrong – can you leave it now.

Is this really the only input you can give to this thread – the cost of camping v. holidays abroad. There is a bigger issue being discussed.

So you continue to have the bike but payments are suspended.

    Gary_M

just found some info on it on my laptop

    Maternity / sick leave
Salary sacrifice can be taken from normal pay/any statutory pay.
Employer may either suspend or decrease payments until employee returns to work.

If I leave the scheme early or end my employment before I have
completed my hire term, will I have to give my bike back?

If you leave the scheme or end your employment for any reason
before you have completed your hire term, you will be liable to pay
the amount outstanding from your final net salary. If you take paid
leave during the period of the hire term your payments will
continue to be deducted and you will be able to carry on using
your bike. If you take unpaid leave or leave where your pay is
reduced to a lower amount than that deducted, your payments will
be suspended until you return to work at which time payments will
recommence for the remainder of the term originally set out.’

As far as I remember if the employee is on maternity pay then deductions are put on hold during that time.

depends if you’re going abroad ‘off season’ or not though bob. I should have said ‘can be as cheap’. We normally go camping in the UK for summer holiday, not this year though. The last 2 years have been terrible weather wise.

    Gary_M

I think after a few years it’ll all go back to the way it was before. We’ve had recessions before and this is looking like the worst ever. I predict increased greed and people willing to take more risk.

‘Less Benedorm, more Camping’ – eh camping in the UK isn’t cheap. It’s as cheap to go abroad.
