Thursday 22nd May, the ‘Descent to Olette’ with Altitude Adventure.

It’s worth going onto 4od & watching a little series of short ( 6 or 7 mins each ) films with Guy Martin where he describes his passion for racing, mechanicing & his Merlin engine.

Always done it anticlockwise, ‘cos I hate riding up Rooley Moor Rd! The climb up to RMR from Waterfoot is rideable but hard going though. I always prefer a short(ish) steep climb to a long draggy one.

Think I’ll pootle over & watch this. Rode up it last Sunday & did the steep bit (the section with the handrail on the wall) in 2:14…the KOM on Strava stands at 46secs… 😯

We’ve got two at work, a 1.6 HDI & a 1.2 3cyl petrol. The 1.2 is surprisingly sprightly despite me thinking that an engine that small would struggle a bit in a car that big.

What really pisses me off is those that write of instead of have.

can anyone confirm if this engine is ‘chain’ driven rather than a normal belt? ive been told it is.

The 1.6TDCI/hdi engine is belt driven.

I had a C-Max 1.6TDCI that I bought with 58k on it, so phoned a Ford dealer to ask when is the belt change due (thinking it would be at 60k or so) they said it’s at 150k or 10 years whichever comes first… 😯

Sad news.

I go along that road quite a lot on the road bike & have seen many cars as well as motorbikes being driven/ridden by complete arseholes who must think that they’re on a closed road.

Does anyone know if the ‘professional’ photographer still plots up on a bend near the top photographing the motorbikes? That must encourage some to ride irresponsibly imho.

How about a Citroen DS3 ? 120, 155 & a mental 207bhp petrol engine range. Worth considering IMHO.

I had a 2005 C-Max 1.6TDCI & the engine management light came on after a long motorway journey back oop north from Somerset, had the fault code read, & the DPF fluid needed replenishing. That lightened my wallet by £200 at the Ford dealer…

Ref the pic above with the seats, just do what I did with mine, & that’s just unclip the seats & lift them out. Plenty of room for bikes then.

You only need a licence if you are watching or recording tv as a programme is being broadcast. You don’t need a tv licence just for owning the equipment.

Yep! Rode two days on the mtb, a circular overnighter, stayed at Mankinholes YHA, a few pints & eats sat outside in the sunshine at the Top Brink on Sat night. Just under 100miles covered & 11250feet of ascent.

Cant really add much more to what’s been said already. Been with Ciclo 4 times in the last 5 years, brilliant rides on superb trails, Tourettes, Elephants Tail, Janet Street Porter, Lanjaron 70, Lost Bridge, Extreme Canal Towpath, & many more. Oh, & another recommendation for the overnighter in Granada. I need to go back there.
